Little advice: If you're gonna watch the movie, stop the DVD as soon as the Enterprise appears (after the crew gets reunited for the memorial of Data) and play this video instead.
The film would have been so much richer had they left this in. Hopefully once day, like Superman II a few years back, it'll get a decent "directors cut" style redux (although without said director).
I like how the film actually ended - Picard leaving B-4 with the hope that he will one day have his friend back. It ends things on a more meaningful open-ended note, than a few goofy sketches with the new 1st officer.
Makes me kind of sad to hear the ending song knowing that it's over. If I had the money, I would fund one more TNG movie...serving with you, has been an honour. The Honour was mine...captain....sigh.
What was the point of killing Data? I can understand the whole 'giving his life for another made him human' thing, but he risked his life for others almost every episode, it wasnt like he learned something new in this movie, then they didnt even have the balls to go all the way by hinting that his memories might manifest in B-4, if that happens, whats the point in killing him in the first place if not to evoke a cheap emotional response?
@TheRhinehart86 Actually I think they did hint that Data's memories are in B-4. I mean at the end of the movie, B-4 was humminh/singing Blue Skies as Data sang that same song at the wedding in the beginning of the movie. B-4 would have no way to know this if Data didn't download his memory in B-4.
@2188los Yeah, thats what I meant to say. The only reason B-4 was in this movie was so that they could kill one of the most popular characters in Star Trek history to evoke a cheap emotional response but not piss off too many hardcore fans and possibly(albeit remotely) bring him back if they ever revisit TNG(which i hope they dont). I dont mind that they killed Data but this was a stupid and pointless way to kill off a classic character, something Star Trek movies excell at :P
As much as we rip Stuart Baird for directing this movie we dofor get that this movie was a hair shy over 2 hrs long. As he said in the DVD comentary, he had to cut alot of parts. Many parts were crutial in telling the story. But honestly the studio could have pressured him in to keeping it a certain length. I would have paid more to see a 3 hr long version of this movie if it was done right!
Deleted scenes such as this are better than the ones that they leave in, most of the time. Especially in the ST movie series. They have too many gratuitous action scenes in places where their should be scenes like this.
Why couldn't they have let Crusher and Picard have that, what, 20 second snippet to leave their little romance on a nice note? They just couldn't even let them have that? Pathetic.
The director was an absolute idiot. All of the deleted scenes would have made Nemesis much more rounded and given the TNG characters a respectable last movie, even if it wouldn't be accessible to non-fans. Instead, they made a film that was not only inaccessible to non-fans but didn't even satisfy the core audience. Pathetic indeed.
Denab?? Denab System?? ... Denab was a planet in the Sluis Sector of the Outer Rim. Prior to the Battle of Yavin, it was the site where Rebel Alliance starfighters led by Commander Grisserno defeated the Imperial Fourth Attack Squadron, composed of Victory-class Star Destroyers, at the Battle of Denab.
Abrams hasn't ruined anything. Watched this film the other day and it's pretty clear the franchise was boldly disappearing up its own rear-end. Terrible effort that even failed to cater to a captive audience. Things might have been different if this was another First Contact, but it wasn't.
I have to agree this ending would have been much better . It does give a sense of closure to the TNG era but lets us know that a new chapter is just beginning . On a side note , Enterprise E is much better than D even tho they are explorers the Enterprise E just has a much more "battle ready" feel to it .
I have seen this scene before but, i thought that the order of succession in the case of the First Officer would br Riker-Data-Worf. So should not have Worf been the next Number 1 instead of the other guy?
@SpaceCowboyEd Worf is no longer a member of the enterprise crew after the enterprise-d was destroyed he transferred to deep space nine in this movie Worf was a guest at Commander Riker's wedding the enterprise was taking him back to deep space nine when it was diverted by admiral janeway to go to romulus, with no-one left they had to look for a new one, geordi may have gotten the job but i couldn't see not being chief engineer.

I cried for Data's death and I didn't cry for Spock's. Is it normal?
I cried like a baby, for more than 5 minutes at the end of The wrath of Khan, not when Spock died, but when I heard the trembling voice of Kirk during the speech.
@MasterMacLeod Actually he´s not that dead he returned in the prequel of the next movie( I have heard Abrahms saying its non-canon but fuck it. it expandes the movie very well and basicly fills some data that was missing in his movie)
@TOK150 Perhaps, but it is not Jar Jar Abrams' word. ST policies is that unless it is shown on TV or movies it is fanon. Bad? Yes, but what can we do about it.
@MasterMacLeod I don´t know I´m getting kinda sick of the only canon being the show and the TV-Shows (yes I know gene roddenbary said so when the comics in the 1980s came out but the books and games do a great part in expanding the ST-universe(With the words of Linkara:Why would I wanna read (or play) something that didn´t actually happend!)With all the content we got the ST-universe is still hold so small.
@TOK150 Well, you're not the only one, Paramount really needs to loosen those rigid parameters and allow more things to be incorporated into the canon. Or, you could buy ST online and find out if Data's still around in the 25th Century. I can't buy it due to lag.
Ive seen these scenes before however while the joke of the new commander getting put on by Riker was funny I think Worf should have become first officer. Also if Im not mistaken isnt that chair the same chair from Enterprise?
Why.... Why... Didn't these make the cut... for gods sake, its exactly what was needed to actually give nemesis an ending! maybe not the comedy bits, but, GRIEF!
why was it a disappointment??????? u trekkies, christ.... u may know the trek game, but u know nothing about movie production. U all moaned at Generations.... now the superb ending for the TNG crew cant even escape trekkie stupidity. Glad the film made a gold bar or two, well deserved.
Nice editing and alternate ending. This movie was great in some ways and a dissapointment in others. The biggest dissapointment is the death of Data, and then they brought him back as a child like duplicate? I can see why they did this so this new android could learn, but felt really cheated by this. Also I suppose they had to end the TNG Trek cuz Jonathan Frakes was looking to old. I saw some 2010 pics of him and he looks like a senior, but that is the aging process and it happens to us all
@williamskidfears I never saw Genies work on GH near the end only in the mid 80's when I was a kid. Sorry to hear they made her evil near the end. Laura was so sweet
@RedPortiaOne Gotta love how Patrick Stewart ages gracefully, but Frakes is more like milk. To be honest though, look at a lot of the actors now. Spiner is old as well.
Oh, and I totally agree about the death of Data. I actually cried. He was by far my favorite TNG character.
@delgadorevolver Ya I agree on what youre saying about them aging. Picard, even when he was young had an...I dont know...an older man look to him, so its not so noticible on him. I cried when Data died too, just like I did with Spock. Sad thing is that they brought back Spock, and Data is still dead. I felt very saddened and cheated by that
I'm sick of TNG fans dumping on the new film. Abrams did Trek a big favour by taking a tired and worn-out franchise that only appealed to an increasingly small number of people, and turning it into something that many could enjoy. Or should we just wait for another wholly derivative, shit film while the greatness of Trek disappears up Wil Wheaton's arse?
The complete irony is that the haters really miss the point of Data's axiom about embracing change.
@jimbopumbapigsticks I'm not a TNG fan. I'm a fan of the TOS movies 2-6. The Abrams abomination WAS a "wholly derivative shit film," employing every worn-out cliche in the franchise's arsenal.
Far from it being a change to be embraced, it was a one-dimensional mockery of Gene Roddenberry's(and Harv Bennett's) work and yet another addition to the "tired and worn-out franchise" who had to rip a page out of the Doctor Who playbook to make everything old seem new again.
@williamskidfears as a TOS and TNG addict I couldn't agree more. Abomination in every sense of the word. Especially what they did with that stupid Spock Uhura thing and Scotty and Sarek going emo (Sarek of all people!) and...well everything except the music, the cadet uniforms, Nimoy and the new warp effect the whole thing SUCKS!
@sideim People who call others 'fags' and refer to things as gay are usually closet homosexuals. In your case I'd say a closet homosexual troll. Have a nice day little man :)
@williamskidfears JJ completely ruined Star Trek with his action crap. It has none of the elements of Star Trek. Someone needs to make a Star Trek Movie that is like the original TOS with new actors for Kirk Spock and McCoy. ANyone see New Voyages? Now thats what Im talking about :)
@RedPortiaOne Maybe even a movie based on the New Frontiers novel series. MacKenzie Calhoun would be an excellent captain to follow in the footsteps of the TNG trio.
As for the Abrams abomination, it wasn't so much they had new actors for old characters, it was that the writing sucked, the cliches were well past worn out(ESPECIALLY the time-travel/alternate universes crutch), and the acting was nonexistent.
@williamskidfears I agree with you 100% on what you are saying. What JJ created was a fast paced action film, but in no way was Star Trek at all. Have you seen the new web based series Star Trek New Voyages?? It has all the wonder, chemistry and character interplay Star Trek TOS had. Additionally it has current CG special effects on the old style TOS Enterprise and sets :)
@williamskidfears I really enjoy it too. And this is only a web based fan created show. It captures the spirit of TOS very well. Well all we can do is wait to see what happens in the next Star Trek movie. I know that JJ wont be doing it, and that gives me peace of mind in our hallowed Star Trek universe. By the way, Im posting a series of Star Trek TOS documentarys on my YouTube channel. If you havent already checked it out, stop by and have a look :)
@Zenutheduck Agreed. Who ever directs needs to realize that we 'Trekkers' made the franchise and they need to cater to the core of what we want, which is the Star Trek TOS storys and characters that we love and value...NOT to this new generation of shoot em up movies...you know?
@RedPortiaOne - "Who ever directs needs to realize that we 'Trekkers' made the franchise and they need to cater to the core of what we want,"
They have no obligation to do so. The core of what Trek fans wants varies from fan to fan. Everyone is different. That's why some will like Enterprise the best, some will like Voyager the best, some will like DS9 the best, and so on. The newest film ended up proving popular with Trek fans, it is another take on the franchise as everything before.
@RedPortiaOne - "Who ever directs needs to realize that we 'Trekkers' made the franchise and they need to cater to the core of what we want,"
The core of what Trek fans wants varies from fan to fan. Everyone is different. That's why some will like Enterprise the best, some will like Voyager the best, some will like DS9 the best, and so on. Yes the real ending was much better. Here's is too much stuff that has nothing to do with the story. But nice to see what they did beside the final cut :)
@williamskidfears Nah, man, parallel timelines. They went out of their way to point that out in the Abrams movie to try and avoid the nerdrage about changing Star Trek history.
@williamskidfears Actually if you read interviews with the writers of the JJ Abrams reboot, they specifically say the original canon timeline goes on unaffected using quantum physics as an explanation. The new movie is simply a parallel quantum reality that does not replace the "prime" reality. Also see TNG episode "Parallels"
@newton2105 But, what I'm afraid of is that Hollywood will want a "new" Trek franchise set in the "new" timeline of the Abrams abomination, and the fans will go right along with it.. If the next ST movie isn't set in this "new" reality, I will have the Big One, right along with Fred Sanford,
At least JJ Abrams burriend legend with "phasers blazing"... look what happened to Terminator(s), Predator(s).... and pity, that this ending wasn't acutally in the movie. Return to exploration, and...seat belts...
I've been reading around the internet, and there's still a chance that this will not be the last TNG movie. I certainly hope they do one more, so that things are ended properly. From what I've read, the cast wasn't thrilled the way this ended. I'd love to have J. J. Abrams do the last TNG movie. The only thing that gets me, is that I can't see B-4 being an officer on the Enterprise, but who knows...maybe the movie can be about bringing Data back to life...??
They should make a new tng movie one will they will peace with Romulans, like The Undiscovered Country. But Paramount sold out frigging props for god's sake. It's never going to happen.
@mkoo What would be nice is a TNG movie where ex-Senator Cretak(from the DS9 episode "Inter Arrim Enim Leges Silent")took advantage of the Senate being vaporized and Shinzon getting himself killed to become Praetor herself and make the Feds pay for Section 31 screwing her over.
Call it something like "Star Trek: Reap The Whirlwind."
This is great, an improvement on the original ending, I think it just hads a little more too it, a lighhter side, so its not all sad, i think its sad that the last thing we see of Deanna was of her crying, at least in this, it gives a sense of completion and closure to The Next Generation that it so truly deserves
It's weird. I watched Nemesis in theatres when it came out. I remembered seeing the Riker pulling the new commander's leg and him calling "Jean Luc" in the original theatrical release. Then the DVD came out and it was changed (probably to what you all remember). Now you redid it and it pretty much went the way I remembered in from the theatre. Odd.....can anyone else remember this?
I always thought that it would have been good if B-4 was singing or trying to whistle "Pop goes the weasel" instead, as Riker mentions his first meeting with Data and tried to remember what he was whistling, as B-4 is accessing Datas memories. But I can see why they used this, Data did sing it at the start of the film so its easier remembered by us.
@kmg4 in the relaunch books, Crusher comes back. And worf is the new number one. They also gave Riker and Troi their own book series, covering the Titan.
I guess the spacedock has been destroyed or something... it never appeared once in all the TNG movies. I always loved that monstrosity of the spacedock.
I always liked how each of the original movies started off on earth.. then launch into their mission.
@SNK038 Yet, they used it in the first season TNG ep "10010101010[sic]," in which Riker's holo-girlfriend Minuet and the Binars make their appearances.
@redgaridose No. Lore ended up getting shut down permanently by Data at the end of the seventh-season premiere "Descent, Pt. II," the second part of the "Descent" two-parter.
This scene is funny and I like the last line "it's a place where no one has gone before," but the one they went with was better. Picard walking down the corridor and Patrick Stewart with one expression summed up Picard's whole resolution to not only the movie but to his life. It made us feel like the best days of his life were over, but he was content with his life and the rest of his days.
@jssstephenson No, Riker became captain of the starship Titan in his own novel series. He and Troi appeared in the final episode of Star Trek: Enterprise to seek advice from Captain Archer and the crew of the NX-01 in a holodeck program about informing Picard of something important.
@fROmTh3fUTURe the end of star trek: Enterprise was about a 7th season episode "The Pegasus" i think 12th episode Riker and a admiral was going to stand trial for the use of a cloaking device. Riker was collecting material fo his defence.
@fROmTh3fUTURe "These Are the Voyages," was supposed to have been set during the TNG episode "Pegasus," and Riker was using the holodeck recreation of Archer's last voyage to reconcile the conflict between his loyalty to Admiral Pressman and his duty to Picard, concerning the Pegasus' illegal cloaking device.
This ending is 10x better than the theatre one, every bit that was cut should have been left back in.
"About time." :D
I loved Star Trek XI, but I would love to see at least some of the TNG crew one last time at least, maybe we can get a really GOOD TOS/TNG crossover with Picard and Kir (and maybe on the way they can bring back Data and Shatner Kirk and fight a Klingon ship and make everything right with Trek again in one go...)
i hate Hollywood love fuck love real life is not like that

I cried for Data's death and I didn't cry for Spock's. Is it normal?
I cried like a baby, for more than 5 minutes at the end of The wrath of Khan, not when Spock died, but when I heard the trembling voice of Kirk during the speech.
msinvincible2000 1 year ago 3
@msinvincible2000 I gotta admit I almost cried when Data died. I hoped there would be a sequel with him returning.
And had it been Picard, I would have organized a horde with pitches and forks and would have hunted down the script's writers.
MasterMacLeod 1 year ago
@MasterMacLeod Actually he´s not that dead he returned in the prequel of the next movie( I have heard Abrahms saying its non-canon but fuck it. it expandes the movie very well and basicly fills some data that was missing in his movie)
TOK150 11 months ago
@TOK150 Perhaps, but it is not Jar Jar Abrams' word. ST policies is that unless it is shown on TV or movies it is fanon. Bad? Yes, but what can we do about it.
MasterMacLeod 11 months ago
@MasterMacLeod I don´t know I´m getting kinda sick of the only canon being the show and the TV-Shows (yes I know gene roddenbary said so when the comics in the 1980s came out but the books and games do a great part in expanding the ST-universe(With the words of Linkara:Why would I wanna read (or play) something that didn´t actually happend!)With all the content we got the ST-universe is still hold so small.
TOK150 11 months ago
@TOK150 Well, you're not the only one, Paramount really needs to loosen those rigid parameters and allow more things to be incorporated into the canon. Or, you could buy ST online and find out if Data's still around in the 25th Century. I can't buy it due to lag.

RedPortiaOne 1 year ago
@RedPortiaOne Gotta love how Patrick Stewart ages gracefully, but Frakes is more like milk. To be honest though, look at a lot of the actors now. Spiner is old as well.
Oh, and I totally agree about the death of Data. I actually cried. He was by far my favorite TNG character.
delgadorevolver 1 year ago

The complete irony is that the haters really miss the point of Data's axiom about embracing change.
jimbopumbapigsticks 1 year ago
@jimbopumbapigsticks I'm not a TNG fan. I'm a fan of the TOS movies 2-6. The Abrams abomination WAS a "wholly derivative shit film," employing every worn-out cliche in the franchise's arsenal.
Far from it being a change to be embraced, it was a one-dimensional mockery of Gene Roddenberry's(and Harv Bennett's) work and yet another addition to the "tired and worn-out franchise" who had to rip a page out of the Doctor Who playbook to make everything old seem new again.
williamskidfears 1 year ago
@williamskidfears as a TOS and TNG addict I couldn't agree more. Abomination in every sense of the word. Especially what they did with that stupid Spock Uhura thing and Scotty and Sarek going emo (Sarek of all people!) and...well everything except the music, the cadet uniforms, Nimoy and the new warp effect the whole thing SUCKS!

williamskidfears 1 year ago 19
@williamskidfears JJ completely ruined Star Trek with his action crap. It has none of the elements of Star Trek. Someone needs to make a Star Trek Movie that is like the original TOS with new actors for Kirk Spock and McCoy. ANyone see New Voyages? Now thats what Im talking about :)
RedPortiaOne 1 year ago

@RedPortiaOne I googled it as soon as you first mentioned it, and watched a couple of episodes. Very well done.
williamskidfears 1 year ago
@williamskidfears I really enjoy it too. And this is only a web based fan created show. It captures the spirit of TOS very well. Well all we can do is wait to see what happens in the next Star Trek movie. I know that JJ wont be doing it, and that gives me peace of mind in our hallowed Star Trek universe. By the way, Im posting a series of Star Trek TOS documentarys on my YouTube channel. If you havent already checked it out, stop by and have a look :)

@RedPortiaOne - "Well all we can do is wait to see what happens in the next Star Trek movie. I know that JJ wont be doing it,"
J.J. is producing it, and has made no decision on directing yet since the script is currently being worked on.
Zenutheduck 1 year ago

Also see TNG episode "Parallels"
newton2105 1 year ago
@newton2105 But, what I'm afraid of is that Hollywood will want a "new" Trek franchise set in the "new" timeline of the Abrams abomination, and the fans will go right along with it.. If the next ST movie isn't set in this "new" reality, I will have the Big One, right along with Fred Sanford,

Barneystudioz 1 year ago

He and Troi appeared in the final episode of Star Trek: Enterprise to seek advice from Captain Archer and the crew of the NX-01 in a holodeck program about informing Picard of something important.
fROmTh3fUTURe 1 year ago
@fROmTh3fUTURe the end of star trek: Enterprise was about a 7th season episode "The Pegasus" i think 12th episode Riker and a admiral was going to stand trial for the use of a cloaking device. Riker was collecting material fo his defence.

@beetlejuise Ah so that's what was concerning Will, I have yet to reach that episode of TNG.
fROmTh3fUTURe 1 year ago
@fROmTh3fUTURe "These Are the Voyages," was supposed to have been set during the TNG episode "Pegasus," and Riker was using the holodeck recreation of Archer's last voyage to reconcile the conflict between his loyalty to Admiral Pressman and his duty to Picard, concerning the Pegasus' illegal cloaking device.
