My favourite movie ending, ever. Instead of going with the usual anti-Hollywood-establishment-Tarantino bullshit ending and killing everyone, Tony Scott instead gave us a little moment of ecstasy. I'm so very grateful that Clarence and Alabama got to live happily ever after, walking into the sunset with their beautiful little boy.
fuck romieo and julliet or whatever, am drunk i know but this movie made me cry.. QT rocks and this movie rocks so much....i am gonna name my son ELVIS... and i swear on my mother....
but clarence and alabama (slater and patricia arquette) are exactly the persons why the people love this movie. so i dont think it could get any better than this.
No film has ever touched me like this one. It shook me up. Fantastic script, casting, performances, direction and especially the score. It's even better how not that many people have seen it. And I always make women watch it with me :)
@tokiluv1 Well, that's your problem. Tarantino is know for choosing the most random actors and actresses to be in his films, and his random choices usually surprise the audience. You never know.
After she says "...except maybe I wouldn't have named our son Elvis" and the score kicks in to the shot of them playing happily with little Elvis on the beach, I always get goosebumps. It's so beautiful. What an epic film.
Don't know how many times I've watched the alabama confessing scene to the guy, when she said she's a call girl.. I think I would never ever see that kind of a scene in my whole lifetime,, than she says m trying to come clean,, than she laughs , than she says it was part of the act, and than she pauses and again she's depressed,, ghosh never gonna forget this scene and her face till I die..man honestly,,,, If i had one wish, I would go back to 93 in that scene,, and kiss her lips, and walk off..
I'm so very, very glad Tony Scott went with this ending instead of the one from the original script. The original was grim and depressing and the ending Scott came up with is...ecstasy.
Should check out my 'True Romance' ending, it has alternative music of my choice, it's not as good as John White obviously but it's fun if your a fan of the movie!
If anyone has any idea's for other scenes in movies and music idea's please do PM me and I will get back to you asap and talk about creating it, also giving you full credit for the idea of course. Look forward to hearing from people.
Just the scene with Hopper and Walken was one of the best scenes in cinema up there with pacino and deniro scene in Heat true romance had sooo many good actors in it and the fact it is such an unheard of movie is kinda shocking
A truely amazing movie, without a doubt my favourite movie on my top 5,Alabama is soooo sexy,Gary Oldman played his best role ever,i once read somewhere that the scene with Hopper and Walken was done in one take, the joke with the eggplant and cantelope was adlibbed,a true work of genius that can only be done with professionals, and some cleaning products!
When this movie came out I rushed to see it,when it came out on video I rushed to buy it and watched it once a week at least memorized the dialouge. It remains one of my favs of all time the cast the writing and the direction is wonderful. Funniest I have ever seen Brad Pitt..... "and get some cleaning products" or " I don't have a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of .All I got is Fuckin' Floyd"
haha in the original screenplay by Tarentino, Clarence was killed in the gunfight and Alabama went back to a life of crime..the ending was considered to dark for Hollywood by the Director and changed to this one..
if you watch Resovouir Dogs you can hear Mr Brown say 'whatever happened to that b*tch Alamba?'
@jonrad5 Man, that's a hard truth, but I believe you. So, afterall, was it a good choice, to change it; to end it the way it does? Or not? It's just a movie, I know, but, wouldn't it be pointless to go on in a world where love, loyalty and courage meant nothing? I love the twisted characters and the destructive ways they interact, and I don't usually need a Hollywood ending, but I can't see wanting to live in a world - fictional or otherwise - where Alabama doesn't triumph. She's True, no?
@lighttakesthetree Tony Scott changed the ending cause he wanted to see Clarence and Alabama to get away with it all, to live happy forever, he wanted that their love goes on. Tarantino at first was unhappy with the choice, but at the end was satisfied by it saying that he would if he directed do it different, but than again as everybody know the whole thing by his direction would be different.
@makilovi66 Thanks for posting the additional info. It helps me be at peace with the artistic choices that went into making the movie. It was killing me to think of Clarence and Alabama in defeat. Come to think of it, isn't the fighter, Bruce Willis's character, (warning! givin' away the ending) allowed to escape alive, finally, with his girlfriend in 'Pulp Fiction'? (And then Tony's brother, Ridley, directs an almost happy ending for Nick Cage in Matchstick Men?) Thanks again for the info.
@mrlefty8 Yep. I know that. I'm glad he didn't have directorial control over the movie because I thought that Tony Scott's ending, while it was unrealistically upbeat, somehow fit perfectly into the crux of the story. Tarantino's ending just seemed downright wrong for the film.
damn, I didn't remember there were so many big names on this movie. I watched it back in the day, when it was released, I remembered Dennis Hopper and Christopher Walken, but not Gary Oldman, Brad Pitt and Samuel L Jackson, and definitely not Tarantino. But anyway, they were all not really popular yet at the time Interesting...
What made this movie so great was that Tarantino DIDN'T direct it. Thank god! that fan boy has a way of going so over the fucking top with his shit that it becomes a parody of itself.
@paintballing489 I think you're completely right, I got hung up on the similar music and the hushed, whispery female voice. Malick is a great director to make an homage to, which is probably the case here. I should see the movie before I mouth off about it. Sorry for the surprise; I've never seen this before. Thank you tinez78, jodieisagoodname, and paintballing.
One of the best movies of all time. Not that many people know it; all the better. Maybe it's our little secret. Seeing this movie was when I realized Tarentino was an insane genius. Also, sometimes I watch Medium for no other reason than to see PA.

I Did, and after it I was Like, "omG, what was a Fucking Awesome Movie!!! WOW!!!" :)

OMG, this makes me so upset (in a good way). I think I have found my true romance and she is really "so cool". I love her so much and easily as much as Clarance and Alabama love each other. A truly remarkable film, a masterpiece - for example; the opening speech to a bag of coke bursting on Elliot then Clarance's Dad getting hit by Christopher Walken and then Clarance getting shot. And the final speech is just sooo nice. :)
To write a movie like this and to get some of the finest actors to play in it must be like winning the euro millions . the speeches the acting the way it makes the audience feel is up there alongside it's a wonderful life with jimmy stewart which just goes to show a movie like this is a once in a lifetime experience . Even to this day I think how lucky clarence is to have a girl like Alabama
@xMadelienex I got it at this store in Cincinnati called Spin it Again. Pure luck. I always look at the Soundtracks at all music stores. That's how i find them. Most the CDs i end up buying are soundtracks. Use Cokepoints to download my other music off napster currently.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
This movie is awesome, but I hate the music. When I watch it, the only thing that feels old is the music. Everything is soooo fresh. Story, the acting, the look, but the music takes it down a notch. Every dramatic scene is just so shitty cause of it.
I saw this movie when I was about 13. I said i all-ways wanted a woman like Alabama. Im 32 now. I just meet a woman from Detroit... destiny maybe? IDK. But shes mine now. AND IM LOVING IT! LMAO
I saw this movie when I was about 13. I said i all-ways wanted a woman like Alabama. Im 32 now. I just meet a woman from Detroit... destiny maybe? IDK. But shes mine now. AND IM LOVING IT! LMAO
What a moving scene with that beautiful music and Alabama's lovely innocent voice expressing her feelings so innocently. A brief respite before the oncoming horror and bloodshed in this extraordinary film.
This is my favorite movie. As you might have guessed by my user name I adore the character of Alabama. I have found a love like Clarence just without the bullets and cocaine. :-) Great video.
this instrumental is on the final trailer for how to train your dragon. was trying to remember where i heard it before and came here .youtube : when youre dying to remember something and need relief lol
"Nazis playing guessing games (and Stuntwoman talking car movies) is not as interesting as gangsters talking cheeseburgers.Pulp Fiction was his masterpiece; he might not top it" - memento313
Hold on cowboy, you're sayin Pulp Fiction is Tarantino's "Hamlet" ? LOL! Dude,
QTs masterpiece has yet to be written, nevertheless do mark my words, in 100 years time they'll make kids read his stuff like they make us read Shakespear today...
It's interesting how much impact a director can have on the actor's performance. Patricia Arquette hasn't done anything much since this movie, at least not that I'm aware of. Her sister was big in the '80's.
100 years from now High Schoolers gonna be reading Tarantino plays like they make us read Shakespear today... Just so they can get a glimpse of what our era was like.

Finally scored this soundtrack after wanting it for about 17 years or whatever. Love used soundtracks.

@amishcar where did you get it from? I love this soundtrack too,it's very beautiful.
xMadelienex 1 year ago
@xMadelienex I got it at this store in Cincinnati called Spin it Again. Pure luck. I always look at the Soundtracks at all music stores. That's how i find them. Most the CDs i end up buying are soundtracks. Use Cokepoints to download my other music off napster currently.

such a great film. I can't believe Quentin wrote it sometimes... I think its one of his best scripts. Fantastic cast and so romantic. <3

The casting alone is mind boggling. Then you have the writing. Everything about this movie is simply brilliant.

This movie is awesome, but I hate the music. When I watch it, the only thing that feels old is the music. Everything is soooo fresh. Story, the acting, the look, but the music takes it down a notch. Every dramatic scene is just so shitty cause of it.
