  • I Swear Miyazaki is God.

  • I really want to find some way to listen to these, but the version of the DVD I got from 2010 doesn't have the two songs from the original American release.

Anyone know where I can find the two songs from the US release?

  • @papershadow69 I know!!! I was so pissed!!!!

  • :3 LOVE THIS MOVIE :D along with Ponyo, Spirited Away, Howl's moving castle,Castle in the sky, and other Hayou Miyazaki movies.

  • for some reason the dvd version of disney's dub has the original japanese version rather than the english version

  • This movie was one of my favorites when growing up. I love this song and the one at the end. I wished I could fly like Kiki even now when I'm 20 yrs old. Man I miss my childhood sometimes. Thanks for sharing.

  • I love this song so bloody much. If only I could buy this and the other from the movie somewhere.

  • I wish this was on the DVD... It's only on the VHS I used to watch when I was little!

  • @l4dybu61 it is on dvd i have it on dvd came out a year or two ago

  • DAMN it must feel great to fly on a broom like that

  • Love anime& this song<3.

  • its all about preference i watched this as a kid in english and it gave me more nostalgic feeling than the japanese version. man i wish i was a kid again.

  • On the DVD, they cut out a lot of dialogue and music, they were trying to stay true to the original Japanese cut of the movie. I just wish they might've added this song and "So I'm Gonna Fly" as an extra download or something.

  • They should have kept the english songs for the english version. If you wanted to hear the japanese versions, then switch the audio to japanese.

  • Love this song. Too bad its not on the re-release of the DVD.They stuck with original japanese songs.

  • Very uplifting song. This movie came out the same year that I was born.

  • Thats weird. I have this movie, but not this song. I got the Japanese one: Rouge no Dengon. I kinda like the Japanese one though...:\

  • I got the dvd this christmas and all those years after listenin to the english version on VHS, I like this version better (might be because I grew up with it tho) anyways , I like my all-american kiki that just happens to be in a japanese anime movie and just happens to live in japan hahaha

  • @TJakaTrace but kiki doesn't live in japan. She comes to settle in the town of Coriko in northern europe.

  • where's the japanese :(

  • I prefer the Japanese version much more

  • Lol Jiji did talk, and I think it was one of those annoying voices. I did like it tho, but LO THIS VERSION IS KIND OF GREAT LOLOLOL

  • *raises hand* Anyone else get chills whenever listening to this song and "I'm Gonna Fly"? Cause I do~ <3

  • OP got a few of the lyrics wrong; but I think we can all hear what they're supposed to be. Always loved this song-- we have an original 1996 VHS edition with what may be Phil Hartman's last OD work.

  • The removal of Sydney's material is one more lamentable move by Disney/Buena vista. The rumour is that she had a falling-out with Disney and they have been minimising her presence as a noncontracted performer/writer ever since.

I always love anime J-pop but without the VHS version(s) we just don't have much of Sydney's material out there.

  • i can imagine the cats voice in the japanese version sounding soft and boyish (which i can imagine is more fitting)

  • @Potatoslice I (think) the cat didn't even talk in the original version.

  • They took out a lot of Jiji's snarky/sarcastic dialogue in the DVD release, along with the two Sydney Forest songs. It made me infinitely sad. :c Phil Hartman was beautiful in that movie, his lines were wonderful~

    Makes me glad we still have the VHS and a working VCR. ;u;

  • I know that the US voice is different from the Japanese version and when comparing the 2 it's maybe a little annoying sounding. But i watched the US version first and it always makes me happy hearing Jiji's sarcastic american voice.

  • They replaced both songs on the new dvd with completely Japanese songs, and they took out lines, and Jiji's meow is completely different at times. I was disgustingly depressed because Kiki's Delivery Service is my favorite movie of all time. I'm getting an authentic original VHS copy as soon as possible.

  • I need to watch this movie now. Great. =/ This and Totoro are probably going to be my favorite movies forever.

  • im tring to fine the movie

  • I have nothing against this song, but the song they played in the japaneses version is a million times better! I have know idea why they didn't play it in the moive. The ending japaneses song is better to.

  • this song reminds me so much of my ex... she loved this movie when she was a kid. I miss her so much. I hope shes happy wherever she is.

  • This is one of my all time favorite movies from my child hood.

  • i love this movie!!!!!!! i still watch this!!!

  • 去年くらいに再リリースされた北米版魔女の宅急便DVDは主題歌が日本版と同じものに差し替えられていますね。買って驚きました。日本版の英語音声はまだ古いままですが。

  • Man, Jijis German voice is far better and matching to the character of the cat as intended. The US version went too much US american and lost a lot of the nippon charme.

  • @NoMac90 Hmm, that's really interesting. I'll have to listen to the German version.

I grew up on the US American version so it sounds perfectly normal to me, especially since I've never heard the Japanese voices. The US American voice actor for Jiji passed away after this ):

  • @Reiizm Well, that's sad. But still, about the song I'd say it makes (a bit) more sense to stay close to the original. The US version has been changed in many aspects (yet approved by Ghibli), so the intro does not fit so much in my mind. I like that good old doo-whop song "Rouge no dengo" or whatever it was.. (Originally, I was going to post about the song itself, but I got stuck at Jijis voice :X)

  • @Reiizm realy she passed away ?

  • @NoMac90 Dude, you're entitled to your opinion, but I love Phil Hartman as Gigi.

  • @NoMac90 Man don't talk shit about Phil Hartman he was the bomb

  • @PoetryMyLove Dude, this is your opinion. I have my own. Do you have any right to contradict other opinions. I don't think so. Grow up a bit before yelling "DONT TALK SHIT" to someone not agreeing with you.

  • @NoMac90 lol wow you are way too defensive. I was kidding. I mean I do love Phil Hartman the most but I don't care like what you like

  • @NoMac90 Really? I've always thought that Hartman's voice was one of the main things that gave Jiji so much character. He made Jiji so . . . sarcastic and cantankerous half the time. I love it. xD

    RIP Hartman, by the way.

  • @NoMac90 agree, French voice is way better too, like a cat voice. Here it seems to be Bruce Willis voice lol

  • great...now suddenly im the flight attendant....and who the -bleep- disliked this?

  • i feel like i'm soaring too ^_^

  • @Assassanable Shh, enjoy a beautiful movie however it's presented to you D:<

  • 英語版は曲が違うんですね~知らんかった;;

    ぜひ日本版を観てほしいです!

  • memories come flooding back, but on the dvd my friend gave me it had the songs

  • the DVD doesn't have this song T_T it's only on the tape

  • I miss this song :'( Its not on the new DvD. Neither is "Im gonna fly".

  • @JVcrow44 SERIOUSLY? WTF... Those two songs are what brought this movie to life D:

  • @Reiizm yep. They also removed ALOT of Jiji's dialouge. And bits of Kiki's :(

  • Comment removed

  • @JVcrow44 I think they did it because they wanted to restore the movie so that it was close to the Japanese release, so they put back the original Japanese songs, removed the added sound effects, and omitted all of the extra dialogue and music that was added specifically by Disney when they first released it.

  • @Kasidy92 Hmmm? I wonder y they didnt restore the opening theme to Totoro than? Its still in English.

  • @Reiizm i loved it when the tape was out! it was sooo adorable

  • Comment removed

  • @Reiizm

    I know, right?

  • @Reiizm I KNOW! THEY USED A DANG(not gonna use the other word since kids might look up this song.) JAPANESE SONG THAT WASNT HONESTLY EVEN GOOD.THE JAPANESE SONG ACTUALLY IS A TAD ON THE ANNOYING SIDE AND ISNT EVEN SUNG THAT WELL.THINK THE LESSER SONGS FROM DRAGON BALL...THEN MAKE THEM EVEN WORSE.

  • @Reiizm Worse...I think Kiki got a new,but CHEAP voice actor...Everytime she spoke it was like very...stereo sounding....like a camera recored the audio and they slapped it on over the original...it didnt sound natural.

  • @JVcrow44 I actually returned my copy when I didn't hear Soaring or I'm gonna fly.

    They were perfect for the movie. ; A;

  • @bleachboy14 i wouldn't returned mine cuz i still love the movie but its sad they dont have these anymore.

  • @JVcrow44 i didn't know that they brought this out on dvd

  • @TheFiredancer101 Yeah, along with many other Ghibli films.

  • @JVcrow44 Hmm, I have it on DVD and they are on there.

  • @JVcrow44 the old dvd is still available on amazon if you dont already own it.

  • @mestupkid185 Thanks. Happy Halloween :D

  • @JVcrow44 You too :)

  • @JVcrow44 SHUT UP. How?? Why??

  • @FooFooFlower Wha? Y did they take the songs off? They wanted to restore it to its original Japanese roots.

  • @JVcrow44 D= What did they replace it with!?

  • @EtherSalad The original Japanese songs.

    The original opening song: K63hAN1mOW0&feature=related

    The original ending song: UTGnLY98n6U&feature=related

They're not bad songs IMO, but I grew up with the Sydney Forest songs, so that's what I'm used to.

  • @JVcrow44 I don't quite understand. The two songs were in the actual movie, and to cut out the songs would take a large amount of work, possibly re-recording the lines. Do you mean that they weren't included as special features? Or are you saying that they actually were taken out of the movie? I don't mean to be snarky, I'm just sincerely confused.

  • @TehRantare Well, I'm sure that when making the movie, they didn't save it all as one audio file. I mean, I'm sure they have various tracks. As in, they have one copy of the audio itself, and then one with the music. And, of course, them both together in the actual release ^^

I figure they just pulled out the old audio file with the cast reciting their lines and then put in new music.

Still, it's ridiculous. Sydney's singing makes this movie even more beautiful.

  • @JVcrow44 DD: what? those were the two songs in this movie D:

  • @JVcrow44 exactly dont bother getting the blueray version :(

  • @JVcrow44 Yeah just rented the dvd from netflix and it didn't have either song on it.

  • @JVcrow44 "I'm gonna fly" is on the dvd I think. It rolls during the ending.

  • I love kiki :-*

  • MEMORIES!!!! :D

  • I'm cosplay Kiki to an event soon!!!! =D

  • Let your heart take flight.

  • I love this movie and listening to the opening and ending makes me cry.

  • Nostalgia~

  • i day dream about being free and not have any problas for th day

  • @KaedFuyou You and I both want to be freed of phobias. Gotta find our own inspiration to stand against them... ^_^

  • This is a great song but i do have a question for you, do you ever day dream when you hear this song and if so what about?
