Nice job! Good 4 You! Too many ppl. believe their food originates @ the Grocery store and turn their noses up in skepticism at our delicious wild finds.
I was talking to a lady. She had claimed her elderly mother couldn't eat them anymore, they made her sick. Tongue swelled and vomiting. Said she had ate them all of her life. Maybe it wasn't the morels , but what they fried them in. But the swelling tongue, sounds like poisoning?
My GreatGrandmother Julja picked(and dried) all types of mushrooms till she died (82 years old). She always loved hunting them AND eating them. Never, ever caused her anything but happiness!
P.S. she was strong and healthy to the very moment of her passing - I hope I'm so lucky!
I saw a place in Indiana where they were selling dried up morels for $39.99 a pound. They did not look very good. I wish I could find them like where you are finding them!
Stuff em with cream cheese and blanched asparagus then fry 'em in some butter. Tasty or the always foolproof fry pan and butter

Morels do have Helvela acid which is toxic but its termolabil. When thy are cooked the Helvela is destroyed. They are toxic only when they are raw.
