The inflections of this version are undeniably religious, whereas the original intent was not. I can't stand Aaron Neville, and as a former resident of New Orleans and fan of other Neville's, I was particularly disturbed by this when heard on the radio in SUPPORT of our stupid war in Iraq. Yes, that's what I think Aaron was communicating as well.

aaron neville always stayed true to his christian values throughout all the years of his success. he never lost sight of his roots and always gave 150% in his performances and interpretations. truely earned his salt and i give him all the credit in the world. excellent colaboration!

limewire Neville Brothers album Yellow Moon song With God On Our Side.
On the album, I remember the guitar as a leaving a little more space, and they do all the verses (6 or so).
This version is great too.
