  • This music is much different than the US one, whats up with that?

  • I remember you could advance to the next stage if you kill one guy and then advance your other... my bro and I were on the last stage and mothra made it through, but then he killed godzilla... so we lost...

  • STILL THE BEST 1973

  • Not a difficult game, just very long. Had a pretty good ending as I recall and yes very good graphics for the time.

  • @HylianShadowrunner amen to that. We were blessed in the US for getting such a damn good soundtrack

  • Don't know why the US version didn't keep Godzilla's themes for the title and intro. I always wondered where they were played when I found them in the Sound Test.

  • /watch?v=2Ic4orqUum0

  • "GODZ!, That's a good sign, his body is blocking half of the title"

    LoL AVGN :3

  • @UltimatexShadow1 Calm down,AVGN fanboy

you should at least try to play the game instead of blindly listening to AVGN

P.S:Irate Gamer is better than AVGN

  • @KilleRotom nope

  • @IMADRWILY I know he's not, I was just trying to troll him

  • @KilleRotom don't do that, you'll make yourself look like a dickhead without any support

  • @IMADRWILY I know, but that's a risk you have to take when you attempt to troll another stupid dickhead

  • I actually love this game.

  • This shit was classic

  • this game was soooo awesome!! great childhood memories here!! thanks for posting!!

  • My dad brought me this game when i was about 8 years old and ive loved it

ever since i now own 9 copies of it the music is great the graphics are great for an 8bit game it was well ahead of its time.

  • I played this game into the ground.... LOVED it!!!

    I had the English version.

  • Man, I remember this game. I miss playing it.

  • I remember how much fun this game was! Godzilla was basically the go-to guy for everything, and you just needed to hope you could get Mothra to survive a mad dash to, and through, the ending stage for each planet.

  • GodZ!!!

  • I LOVE THE 8 BIT GODZILLA SONG!

  • Ye gods, I remember this game from waaaay back in history....well my history anyway. Odd, I seem to remember the music sounding different

  • Damn this is a beautiful game! What memories does this bring back! :)

  • my first game snif

  • so if the title screen is different in the jap version is the planet x version still the same or the jap opening theme

  • OMFG I remember this game, Sadly mines was eaten by my Dg when i was a Kid T_T

But then i was intro'ed to Super Godzilla and i was happy, but i still mourned for this game

  • how do u breath fire in this game??? i cant figure it out

  • start button

  • This game was way easier to beat playing as Mothra, lol!Great game!

  • Also take note that in the Japanese version, it's spelled "Gezorah", instead of "Gezora" in the other versions.

  • My little sister cried at the end when my brother and I beat it. Classic!

  • @ronin1011 why'd she cry lol

  • This game was awesome. The graphics also looked pretty damn good for an 8-bit NES title.

  • @TypicalJoe1900 True that thinking about when I would rent this back when they had Video Tyme (thanks mom).

I remember there was a cheat to match up with the other monsters like..typing Destroy all monsters(something like that). Memories.

  • Japanese title screen and intro trump the US version by far; I remember accessing the sound test and wondering where in the game tracks 00 (main title aka Godzilla main theme) and 01 (intro screen aka Monster Zero March) were used.

  • Some of the scariest bosses I've faced. In movie form they are less scary but in this convulsing sprite format placed with the pitch black background, and incredible (for its time, especially) soundtrack... quite excellent.

Wish I could hear more stuff from this composer.

  • His name was Akira Ifukube. His soundtrack work is very renowned in Japan, but not so much in the States

  • I wonder why the title/ intro music had to be so different for the US version... weird.

Akira Ifikube's stuff is the best for the Godzilla/ Gojira films!

Hey can anyone tell me what the piece of music is called for the password screen? I know I've heard it in other forms before, and other movies, I'm sure of it.

  • I still have Monster of Monsters and play it every once in a while...(I'd play it more, but its too much of a fight to make my NES work and if some one takes a step in the other rooom it resets...) if only it was a PSP port...

  • yeah download the NesterJ emulator

i have it and this game and its too funy

  • this is my fav godzilla game, no lie

  • The main theme during gameplay has been embedded in my head for over 20 years (approx)

  • I DO remember this game and beaten it with Godzilla.

  • Hell Yeah! Retro Gojira kicks ass!

  • never played this game before, but now I REALLY want to play it! What are old Mogera and Gezorah doing in the game? I didnt think that they appeared in any Godzilla movies...

  • they didn't... moguera was in Godzilla vs. Space Godzilla but this game predates that movie by 5 or so years. I'm not sure why they didn't go with Megalon, Titanosaurus, or some other monster actually in a Godzilla movie... but whatever, this was still one of my all time favorite NES games. Although after seeing the famicon version i feel a little cheated on not getting 8 bit renditions of Ifukube from the films but oh well, the U.S. soundtrack to this game was decent.

  • I was just a tiny little kid when this came out. A few years later (when I was old enough to walk, talk, and hold an NES controller) I remember renting it from this ONE ODD BALL VIDEO STORE in my hometown. Nowhere else carried it. And of course, these were the dark ages just before the Internet, and I couldn't buy it anywhere either! Thanks for posting! Nostalgia is good for the soul. :)

  • the theme is awesome!!!

  • The NES godzilla had the best music of any NES game ever, hands down.

  • This game rocks

  • This game is hard

    Thank you, Game Genie

  • wow gezorah is one cheap son of a bitch! @_@

  • LMAO I remember this game =D.

    it was so Hard O.O

  • Good God this clip reminded me of how annoying it was to fight Gezora. I'd always get cornered like you did, but he'd never back off, so It'd be an instant lose. :(

  • So that's where those Music clips I found in the Sound Test Mode that I couldn't find in my version of the game came from.

  • this game was hard when i was 4 years old

  • I remember this one, fond memories from my childhood. Why didn't you show any Mothra gameplay though? Mothra rocks! :)

  • "If anyone remembers this game, give yourself a pat on your back. This was one of my favourite games on the NES."

Remember it??? Dude, I HAVE it... it's also one of my fave on the NES!

  • You're a fucking prick, you goat shaving ass!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • dude this game was the fucking hardest game ever your gonna get fucking hit no doubt about it to theres to much shit in the air

  • I like the english version's intro/storytelling screen

  • This game is better then barney's hide and seek game.

  • i got this game when i was real little (like 3or 4 i think) lol and still play it today.. :D

  • gezorah theme the best !

  • cooooooooool

  • The music and gameplay kicks ass.

IIRC, if you put the password "Destroy all monsters" in, you can fight all of them on the first level

  • I fucking love Godzilla

  • this game was the shit....gotta dig up the old nes now!

  • God, I love you. This was one of my favorite games of all time. Bless you, sir. I never beat this, but I loved it so. Again...bless you.

  • I wish words could describe how I feel seeing this. This game was by far one of my all-time favorites. Still is. Bless you! :)

  • Music of the US version perfect!

    Thanks for video.

  • I really liked this game as a kid, though I never beat it until I was in junior high. I always killed Mothra first, what a useless character. I still have the original cartridge btw.

  • This is the JAP version, the US and EUR versions had better opening music

  • this game had awesome music!

  • dman....i was about 7 years old that i played this game....

  • Baragon? That one was from Frankenstein conquers thw world.

The Frankenstein mutant ends up fighting it and winning.

Baragon had a red heat ray kind of like Godzilla's... But I doubt that is was as powerful.

  • Ah! GODZILLA!

Oh how I loved to play this game.

The only thing I never liked about this game were the homing fireballs that could kill a monster if it hit just right. And unless you could hit it with a full breath attack... it would always strike your monster.

  • I know what you mean, about those fireballs, I hate them. If I had known the swear words back when I was that young, I probably would have been like: "What the f---!?" when it kills the monster in one go.

Then there's Gigan, whp pins you against the side and tears you apart, not really giving you a chance to fight back, bleh.

  • to avoid the homing fireball, use the breath attack right before it strikes, it will still hit you, but will keep going through you as opposed to pushing you along while killing you.

  • i wanna buy this

  • Toho cinefile soft library. They appear also in Dr. Jeckyll & Mr. Hyde, a completely worse game.

  • yeh i remember tht game.. never played it tht much.. i was only 6 wen i played it and i might play it agen

  • Japan Thinking that there is 7 planets = FAIL

  • The music is definetly NOT the same...

  • oh... I love this game :-)

  • If you put in this code in at the password stage you can get the all the music Jap/US

    S0UND

  • lol the 1 red alert ok just joking

  • Not bad. now i wish I had bought the game when I had the chance.

  • For some reason, I remember the stages being longer...

This was one of my favorite games as a kid. It makes me want to hook up my NES and throw it in.

  • No one told you to play it. I like the game. Opinions are opinions. You have yours. I have mine.

  • Good times.... i remember playing this all the time when i was a kid

  • I was never lucky enough to get an NES, but used to have an SNES over a decade ago until it broke =[ I had the Godzilla game for the SNES and from what I remember of it, it was about the same as this. Except for one monster per level and when you killed the monster that was the end of the level. I think there were powerups like Nuclear reactors you could (eat?) Honestly though I thought Godzilla for SNES was sort of boring, but I was playing Killer Instinct I and II and Mario Paint too ;)

  • i have both nes and famicon! with both of these games!

  • used to play this game for hours, and using codes helped a shit load. some of those badguys ive never seen before

  • Glad to see you use Tohokingdom. Do you know where I can find NSF files of the fami. version?

  • I loved that game, but Gigan just wouldn't die!

  • Remember it? I still own it. Both NES Godzilla games actually. ^_^ This game was such a pain in the ass tho. Some of the monsters were relentless.

  • it was awsome!

  • The music in the intros is so much better in this version!

  • I could never figure out how to beat the first fucking map!

  • this game was rated 10% from TOTAL Nintendo magazine

thought Id give it a go, my GAWD this totally sucked!

  • You don't know what a good game is, and that's sad.

  • my favorite NES game of all time along with SMB3 but I never understood why he was teamed with Mothra weren't they mortal enemies? And I thought Baragon was

his friend, he aided him in a fight against Biollante

    once

  • It depends on the movie. Godzilla movies are like pro-wrestling. One day they're a team, the next day one is hitting the other over the head with a skyscraper.

  • lol! I know, I even remember a movie where Godzilla was fighting Ghidorah and Ghidorah was the savior of the japanese people!!! and the same is going on in WWE right now, I wouldn´t be surprised if Brian Kendrik turned on Paul London and hit him over the head with a chair

  • also...why did they portray the big guy as blue in this game? i mean what the hell

  • this game had such cool music. i must admit, while i really enjoyed hearing the actual godzilla tunes (specially the part where its all like in the year 2xxx, thats one of my favorites) i missed the tunes they made for us version (course you just have to play mars and planet x. also moguera and gezora totally blow hahaha.

  • I allways back to my child hood

  • Good graphics and sound for an NES game it's my second fav. First is TLOZ

  • Are you serious man? The game is great and all, but you seriously need to do alot better.

  • My fav NES game!!

  • haha i had this, only a couple of years ago though

  • the us intro music was better

  • This was one of my favorites. Right up there with Mega Man and Mario. Ever tried the code GH1D0RA and then used the password it gives? You'll go to a bizarre, random middle-of-nowhere level.

  • lol this brings back memories

  • the music is incredible

  • Compile's NES/Famicom games have good music in them. Wow. Guardian Legend, this, and I think the only other one I've played is Zanac.

  • Yes, I agree 100% MegaFantastic187. TGL and Godzilla have, in my humble opinion, the best overall music scores in the NES kingdom, bar none. Compile was right on the money on these two gems; haven't played Zanac though. BTW, I LOVE the font these two video games use for their passwords and messages. Perfect tens all around, both games!

  • long movie

  • I got the PAL version, i love the music for both versions, awesome.

  • Did anyone actully beat this game .

  • I have, years ago.

  • can't wait to see. wasn't there also a code in this game too.

  • This game used to get me pumped like a weightlifter!!!

  • Was that Moguera?

  • Yes, it was. The games featured many monsters from the monster films. I may do more levels in the future.

  • I love the music in the background and thanks for putting up this vid. It brought back alot of memories.

  • This was such an awesome Godzilla game b/c it so many of the monsters...

  • I cannot tell you how happy you made me by uploading this video. Thanks man.

  • what the squid monster from cause i dont see him in any godzilla movies

  • The squid monster is Gezora and he's from Yog Monster from space. A toho monster movie but not a Godzilla movie.

  • Hes from Godzilla vs King Kong. King Kong actually fights him, not Godzilla.

  • This was one of my favorite NES back in the day! I would keep renting it from the video store, because I could never manage to get past the bloody Jupiter stage because of the mob scene there.

  • BOY do I recall this! Took me HOURS to complete but what a satisfying feeling.

  • dose anyone have the english one

  • i so remember this game man

  • Wow, I do remember this game. I just remembered it being a lot cooler than this. Oh childhood memories, how distorted you are.

  • Why don't you use the kick more? It's much more powerful than the tail swipe.

  • LOL, I OWN this bloody game! And yes, it's very wierd! Hard too...

  • By the way. I posted a video repsonse with my Godzilla video to yours. Loved your review.

  • nice

  • now im godzilla1992 not godzilla is coming

  • oh just so u no theres somat rong wif this account so ill im gettin a knew 1, ill tell u wot it is soon.

  • YES! YES U SHOULD! DO IT! DO IT! NOW!

  • I wonderif I should add anymore.

  • Awesome! I loved this game, be sure to check out my new Super Famicom Godzilla fighter vid's!

It's the best Godzilla game ever =)

  • Yes the music is awsome. It really gives it that retro Godzilla feel!..

  • You're Welcome!

The music was also good in this game. I will admit that.

  • Ah yes i remember this game well! I played it when i was about 3! Thankyou for remindig me about it!

  • Wow I had no idea Compile (Zanac, Aleste, Puyo Puyo)made this too. I loved this game when I was younger.

  • Great video, dood! Godzilla rules!! ^^

  • Cool music!

  • There is a Gamera game fro the SNES in which you have to avoid the monster attacks Tokyo or something. You moved your unis throughout a grid, and so did Gamera, in turns.
