man, i love him. He has so much power and such great respect to his art. He' s nearly 70 years old and still looks like a litlle fucked up 50 years old guy.
Whats a multi-millionaire like Mick got to sing the blues about ? He should try living in England at the moment looking for work to no avail like me, I got the fucking blues man big time. But anyway Mick if you're looking for a plasterer at one of your many houses, I'm your man baby, great song by the way.
@peedutt Well, things are not exactly like that...mick remained modest and "true" during all those years of fame, unlike bono and other showoffs.. few yrs ago my friend's dad saw him buying groceries in some cheap store looking like a "bum"-how many rock stars would do that. Also,my friend's band played in some pub in ireland, and their singer got terribly drunk that night. Mick and Ronnie Woods were there, they jumped up and played with them...how cool is that
@peedutt What's he got to sing thew blues about ? Well he's been honing his craft since 1962 when he truly had barely any food. He didn't even think about being famous at the time he was just in love, as was Keith, with American blues. They paid their dues. They came to America and recorded a blues cover album with Decca and proved their "blues worth". Hell, Keith says Mick is in the top ten of best blues harp players in the world. So if he wanna bring out the blues now & again, he can & will
I love how people here think that to enjoy this version, one must not be familiar with the Elmore James original. Closed minded idiocy. It is possible to be massively familiar with the blues greats and still enjoy their musical offspring. Why do so many people claim to be authorities on something as subjective as an opinion. It is both impossible and moronic.
casu3---- Being "black" has nothing to do with playing blues, you ignorant piece of shit. The experiences they sang about we're their's and no other white blues guitarist will sing about picking cotton. (that's obvious) But playing as well as singing blues is for everyone who feel's it. Did SRV, Joe Bonnamassa as well as other's steal the blues from "black people"... Fuck no. So go fuck yourself and your inbreed sister in the cornfield while you ponder your Ignorance. Asshole
There is a time to stop for an artist, Mick had to stop 10 years earlier. I quickly listen to the divine Elmore James and forget this rubbish(by the way the guitarplayer sounds fine, but what a difference with Elmo)
Let it be clear every singer maded a lot of rubbish even Elmore James, Elvis a.s.o. did this too. But besides that we know from most great singers some songs or covers that can't be beat. We are talking'with Elmo about 1 certain now famous Dust my Broomcover. If I am correct this one was amongst his final recordings. That one is the best ever...(besides that we know a few other takes/covers of this song by Elmo who are not 100%. I think you 'll know what I mean...
people always expected-expect far too much from the stones-mick...and always so easy to judje them or indicate how they should act or play or not to play etc.. thank god they were much more clever than anybody can imagine! otherwise they wouldn't have so colourful & versitile career
Finally, a Jagger performance (since 1972 or so) that doesn't make me cringe. He should never play with more stage space than this. The limited area keeps him from pointless running around, lame new dance moves and keeps him focused on his singing. I've dissed Mick alot these last couple of decades, but he's still got it when he tries, and in the right context. I always suspected he did too. Nice to know i was right. Stones 'Striipped' in the studio was another great moment.
@ironbuttermilk you make some good points here, but when he gets going on those catwalks,it really is something, but he rocks in a club setting, me too, I've dissed om him,but when the lights go down and he steps on stage, you know you are seeing a legend.
Love Jagger with a classic-style blues band doing what he originally did - accompanied by blues guitar and piano. Looks likes he's having more fun than with the Stones doing this type of cover he's great at.

I missed The Stones everytime they played a small club in Toronto, so it's cool to see what it might have been like - minus the other Stones.

Guess they never thought to restrict him in a tiny cage right from the start....so to become a great choral vocalist..!
