  • just turn it on full blast and starting jumping up and down... finish that in half in an hour

  • boyhood hero - james, 28!! :)

  • someday I'll be that fast...

  • Imagine seeing this guy in the gym.... Running next to you. For 2 hours....

  • 196~195 steps per minutes------ if you measure it in this video,

Am I correct ? If I am, I was wondering how many people can normally run this cadence of 195 without getting strained ? When I did that, my LCL (Lateral collateral ligament) got injured !

  • @hunghua1309 I started running with a metronome and a playlist at 180. It took a while for my mind to get used to it on long slow runs. This summer I trained with some folks on the track for the first time. I found that during 800m repeats I was running more like 190 because the brain tries to "solve" the speed prob with faster cadence. I found that I could still do the same pace by dropping back down to 180 -- but it felt easier at 180. For whatever that is worth... :>

  • 150,000 hits. you would think they could make more money

  • His fucking stride... Perfect.

  • nothing like the great HILE G/SELASSIE true ethiopian

  • grabeh nge

  • The treadmill is probably more worn out than he is.

  • 24km/h....that's some fast and smooth running for 4min

  • Lol this should be how they do the actual running events lol, all on treadmills, no need for a massive track and easy to watch lol haha

  • I will bet that he his 1/3 man, 1/3 robot and 1/3 amazing......

  • Graceful form. :D

  • to funny for me but the effort for our hero

  • Me compro una trotadora.... seguro...Jajaja

  • that's a funny move-

  • Every time I watch a video of Haile I always want to go out and run. The effortlessness of his stride and the joy he has while running is truly inspiring.

  • Does this thing go any faster

  • greatest form

  • adizero tempo>> nice!

  • this event is described in one of the early portions of the book "run" by matt fitzgerald. Haille was promoting some gear for adidas (notice what hes wearing full-body), and talking about the gear while running at like 4:50 pace, but then goes off topic and works his way down to 4 minute pace, still talking with ease and with his brilliant stride lol, totally ignoring the adidas promoter

  • @anUHkins Yes, Matt's description of Geb is spot-on. I was the one who asked Haile what pace he was running when he was at 4:50, and I think he took it as a challenge.

  • @TheJoggler1 haha that is cool to be there and be part of that. Haile has great charisma it seems.

  • I like how the treadmill is on a track.

  • @athleteization Easier you can increase speed ... Not as hard on the knees as a track....

  • so cool

  • He's not even out of breath afterward.

  • WOW!! I hope to be at least almost this good in the future!

  • @PT0088

man if you would be just half as good as the great haile you will probably be better then 90 % of runners in the world..

    good luck

    cheers

  • @happytobeproud If you were half as good, you would run marathons in a tad over 4 hours.

  • he is incredibly talented, i wonder they had to find an special machine to be able to run fast enought for him.

  • dang i want a treadmill that can go that fast

  • He is too good for words.

  • I really like those shoes, too bad they only fit racers and would have casual runners injure themselves. I bet gebreselassie would rather walk without them too.

  • I bet this vid gave the adidas marketing crowd a real hardon

  • While he appears to float, straight on, his form has an awkward motion with his left arm. Supposedly from 12 miles a day running with books to and from school. I once heard a commentator saying how inefficient he was ... as he won the race of course. I was fortunate enough to meet the man and hang out with him for a couple of hours back in 1997 days before his World Championship in Athens. If you think he seems nice ... he's even nicer in person. Even bought me a drink.

  • @turtle1448 In what circumstance were you able to meet him? I know this sounds silly, but I've always wanted to fly to Ethiopia and run with him just once.

  • @turtle1448 with running there is no "correct" form per-say. Your body adjusts and just does what feels natural - and what feels natural is usually what is most efficient. You can't say the same about cycling, where your body is utilizing a foriegn, biologically unfamiliar object to move.

What a textbook says is correct may not apply to someone who has even the slightest degree of abdominal asymmetry. Our bodies are built for distance running, like any animal we must simply do what feels right

  • @turtle1448 I read your comment a second time and I understand your point a little clearer. And you are right, if you regularly run with something that would throw off your natural form (ie. a bookbag) then you will likely develop a counter-productive cadence.

  • I want his Shoes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @NoWarMakePeace ive got them:) they're amazing.

  • His running form is simply a thing of beauty.

  • That is a neat looking treadmill

  • Visualize his cadence, form, relaxation and beauty when you run at any pace. You will be inspired to run faster!

  • 4 minutes mile ?holy shit

  • After the best part of a year building up to 30 miles per week on the roads and trails, I've got into treadmill training. I been doing intevals, 11km/hour warmup then 18.5km/hr for 80m, then 11km/h for 80m, back upto 18.5km/hr doing this 5 times. A short break then repeat. It totally does me in! What I found absolutely incredible is that Haile Gebrselassie runs at over 20km/hr for 26.2 miles! My legs can't even go that fast!

  • wow haile run run show them what u got

  • Haile is simply "the greatest".

  • Just makes you laugh at when you see some fat guy trying to run 9mph on a treadmill

  • @Rogerio34567 lol i take you mean kmph , there arent many fat people who can run 9mph thats the speed i do a 10k at and i think im pretty fit.

  • @idalgleish87 hah i seen a fat guy turn on the treadmill (no warmup) and set it straight to 9mph (as i was running next to him). Surprisingly he managed to run 9mph for 5 seconds with his short legs but began to panic and soon set it to walking pace lol

  • @Rogerio34567 lol i got the wrong end of the stick. Whats worse is sometimes i go to my gym and theres a row of 4 fat people taking up all the treadmills and just walking for a hour while they watch the tv.

  • Comment removed

  • @idalgleish87 don't underestimate the calorie burn from walking. Any excercise is better than none. That said I hate to wait for treadmills too just wanna have it for myself!

  • The reason he runs with such great form is because he went barefoot most of his childhood. But most moron runners would never try such a thing, so they will always have sluggish and crap form.

  • @toby099 you're retarded, go home.

  • @MuffinFace220 toby099 is completely right, he's definitely not retarded. Why do you think so many Americans aren't up in the competition of longer distances? Goes back to the fundamentals, bad running form.

  • @Noobie295 Ya i gotcha, i just think if I were to pick up barefoot running out of the blue as he's suggesting, i would get injured. I dont even remember commenting that...pretty harsh lol

  • @MuffinFace220 It would be a bit of a leap of faith but it naturally makes you go on your toes because it hurts to land on your heel. I would definitely start with getting shoes that are more flexible and not as think such as flats or Nike Frees and learning how to run forefoot in those first

  • lol ?????

  • I want his shoes.

  • it appears to be so easy for him xD

  • wtf means "4-minutes-per-mile pace" ? How much minutes is that in one kilometer ? Yeah, i know i can convert, but why would i bother ? Speak in kilometers, or meters like everyone else in athletics, ffs!

  • That's an american sports camp, in america, watched on an american website, by mostly americans. I understand the limitations of the system we use, but with all due respect, fuck off.

  • @coabg it's 24.1016 kmph

  • @coabg- 4 minutes per 1609 meters

  • wow

  • :O awesome !!!

  • does anybody know where to buy a treadmill that fast and how much it costs thanks for help, I'd appreciate it

  • @Pandamatrix85 it is a woodway treadmill. You can purchase a refurbished unit for around 3,500 american dollars or purchase directly from the manufacturer for a bit more. Hope this helps :)

  • thanks bro

  • @Pandamatrix85 just get an unpowered treadmill and set it at 45º angle, see how fast it goes!

  • i want that treadmill

  • he ran 10 miles to school ever day and back

  • i think he said 10K, so a little over 6 miles. still a crazy feat that probably led to him being the man he is today

  • 10k, not ten miles

  • Twas kilometers friend :) But at altitude for us that would be more like 10 miles alright!

  • ...and running in that temperature!

  • @isakswahn actually ethiopias temperature is averaged at about 70 to 75. now when it comes to altitudes thats something else

  • @kushlion Cool, it sounds like a very pleasant climate. I spent some time in Mexico City, which seems to have a similar climate, very nice!

  • @RasIziahGilham wrong, 10k to school and another 10k back so 20k total, check wikipedia

  • @Pandamatrix85 that is what i said.

  • @RasIziahGilham actually you said miles not kilometers, 1000 meters are in one kilometer, and 1611.6(commonly rounded to 1600) meters in a mile, so there's a big difference, I just thought it was worth mentioning

  • @Pandamatrix85 I thought a mile was 1609 metres, to the nearest metre?

  • @GOATAli it is, I used to think it was 1611.6m because I read that a quarter mile track is 402.9m so I went 402.9 x 4=1611.6, but its actually 1609.344m

  • Woodway Treadmill, I run on one at school. They are amazing!

  • He use to run 6 miles to school every morning as a kid and he ran the same distance back, which gave him an excellent running posture.

  • his form does look good, but i saw a video that said that since he carried his books in his left arm, it gave him this weird crick in his left arm's motion

  • Man look at his form. He's so smooth just like floating!

  • @GetBackJack123

really thats even harder on a treadmill because it shortens your stride.

  • such good leg turnover!

  • I love him. And happy to see him running on a traidmill. I my self is preparing for Maration and i wish to run,on day, with the Great Haile Gebreselassie.

  • @semerethegreat dream big! lolololol

  • impressive stride
