Your Basic steps are wrong - Starting on the left it's left foot left and the right foot left and finaly left foot forward then right foot right left foot right and right foot back - You are starting gooing forward on the left and back on the right on the 1st and 4th beat

You chould know that if you teach Dominican Bachata ;-)

@HotFemaleDancer i agree a disagree with you. That is another variation of basic steps, indeed. But to say that it's wrong is inaccurate...who's to say who's right and who's wrong. hell, i've been to dr, taught and trained there not to mention, started the 1st bachata festival in santo domingo. There is no such thing so "dominican style", we only created that term here in the USA for marketing purposes. majority dance out of timing there.

@iBachata Yes it's another variation of the steps like many of the fusion styles steps are but these have nothing to do with dominican way of dancing bachata no dominican dance these steps they are starting in the wrong direction - The problem here is that it confuse people by writing it's Dominican and there are confusion enough about the Bachata Dance..

So people like you and I who prefer the more natural dominican way of dancing must see to that newcomers get it right ;-)

@HotFemaleDancer you are focusing on the starting point, but that doesnt make or define the "way dominican dance" I have seen many dominicans start that way in the barrios. Of course, we really cant pinpont their starting point because it changes everytime you watch them,

@HotFemaleDancer unless, you are watching the schooled dancers in DR, then you would either see breaking on 1 (tapping on 4 and 8) or breaking on 3 (tapping on 2 and 6). Many discount breaking on 1 as true timing, i disagree (it matches the bongos) while breaking on 3 matches the bass guitar

@iBachata You mean tap on 3 and 7 - If that was the case you chould have done it from the beginning of the dance - poor excuse :-)

@HotFemaleDancer nope 2 and 6, and no, i didnt teach it that way here because USA are so used to 4 and 8 with breaking on 1, an hour wont suffice and they wont get it. As far as 3 and 7, nah, i know the timing, but it's not natural...that actually would look like off-timing. 2 and 6, goes with the base of the music, and most dominicans i trained with, dance that way

@iBachata Most Dominican Social Dancers tab on 4 and 8 some on 1 and 5 and others on 2 and 6 Anyway I was writing about the way you are dancing the basic steps in a square not the timing of the break or tab ;-) Will you still argue that it 's such social dominicans dancers do them?

@HotFemaleDancer ok ok lol, now i see your point. you are talking about the BOX Steps. i though you were talking about basic stationary. i never got to explaining that part, didn't i...the box steps i was teaching here is based on bolero. I have changed teaching this method ever since because dominican dance it differently And you are correct in this sense, indeed it's left foot left and the right foot left then left foot forward then right foot right left foot right and right foot back .
