One more thing even tho Boca or any other company will say the bearing is dry when you get it its not dry really and will NEVER spin like it can unless you do a good flush on the bearing. you REALLY REALLY need to flush then before you install them. also remember when oiling spool bearings use VERY VERY little, with a pin type oiler let 1 drop build up and drop it between the races. I run all my spool bearings seal-less they dont get clogged and will preform better without a seal.
@ofnaman They are dry and you do not OIL ceramic bearings it makes them break down.. I leave the seal on because if you look close they do not actually touch the inner race
Also if you want the best long free spooling and protects very well lube, get you a bottle of TG Rocket yello and red rocket fuels and blend then 1 to 1 and bingo.. unblended red is to thin and yello is to thick... if you go 100% red you will have super thin oil for max spool speeds but its super thin and spins out to fast yellow stays in better but is a little to thick but blended you will have lightning fast free spool and only have to oil your spool bearings every 2-3 trips.
I fish only high end USDM AND JDM Daiwa reels, Boca orange seals are good bearings but trust me if you want the best ABEC7's use TG Rocket or ZPI, I use 99% ZPI's but they spool bearings from ZPI will be hard to find from them but easy to find from TG Rocket and they only cost about 10 dollars more then Boca O/S's... They will out free spool ABEC9's with ease. Boca ABEC7's are like TG and ZPI ABEC5's.. not saying O/S's are bad they are great bearings just telling you for a few more $ theres.
As for the smoke vs the lews I would have to say the smoke it just manages better alot less backlashes with the smoke but they cast about the same distance with same rods line and lure!
I have alot of reels. LOL And as for the reason I change the bearing. It let's me cast SO MUCH farther so in return I cover alot more water stay farther from the fish and allows me to catch alot more fish!
Your relpacing perfectly good bearings with "better bearings" that wont help you catch one more fish. Yes they may be smoother but the antibacklash and your thumb put enough drag that it wont matter. Wait until the stock ones blow up (if they ever will) and then replace them.
People have told me this reel is very loud is this true or no? THANKS!
