Was that someone sitting near you singing along? How annoying. This is why it's difficult to go see a musical that has garnered a lot of attention [and more of the "rock" variety]. Some people don't understand you don't sing along at the theatre. I don't care if this isn't technically a theatre performance - you still don't do it. Broadway performers put on solo concerts and no one sings along. Not unless asked by the performer, and even then they'll shut everyone up after a line or two. lol
@overthemoo Its actually kind of traditional to sing along to Rent. It has been done since it was on Broadway. While I agree normally it is rude, during certain productions it is ok. Its just like have audience participation and call outs during Rocky Horror. Its just one of those things that developed overtime.
@magicgal86ify1 I went to a tour production not too long ago and no one was singing. I know someone who saw more recently and again, no singing-along. Also, no, singing along is not like RHPS participation. People go to RHPS screenings/performances because they're fans who have seen it before and know the "parts" or at the least know of the experience. When you see Rent, you are not certain everyone has seen the show. There should be no singing along. It's always rude to do so.
will anyone post David Burtka solo, he sang the first part (i believe) on Will I? i hope someone post it, one thats my favorite number in RENT and I really want to see David Burtka!!!!
