Auto repair videos: How to Change a Car Antenna

is it possible to replace a 'Metal' mast with a rubber one as easily as this? We allways have to keep our mast (which is retractable) locked down as the local kids swing on it as they go past. We dont always listen to the radio however when we do, its a pain havng to stop the car just to unlock the mast -_-
