Hi. Amazing job on this video! I'm using it as my example for how I want my videos to look. It sounds like the HVX-220 with Redrock is for advanced filmmakers? As a beginner, should I use the HVX? Or do have any recommendations for a camera that will give me similar look - I saw that you recommended the Cannon CD Mark II - is that a camera a beginner can handle?

@sinkingship101 believe it or not, we used some old Nikon primes. I wish I could be more specific on what we used, but I shot this video 5 years ago. The song was from the film Tenacious D and the Pic of Destiny .
did they shoot it in 1920x1080 progressive mode or 720p? since i see a clear slow motion so i'm sure if you used slow motion in the editing room or you change the frame rate during shooting...
i also got that Camera set! HVX with Redrock, love that look! But as i saw some footages of the 7d Camera (here in Youtube) i was a bit disappointed.. is ist worth it to keep my Hvx or should i buy an 7d Camera? 7d got a much higher Resulution but what about the Colors ? Do you know some other critical Points? I need your help.
This video was shot on an HVX-200 with a Redrock Micro M2 lens adapter. If you want a similar or better look I would suggest buying a Redrock Micro M3 when it is released this summer to go along with whatever camera you buy. You could also look into buying a Canon 5D Mark II, this would give you a similar look.
i subscribed and favorited the video! I Luv The Quality Of This Video! Im REALLY lookin Into Buying 1 Of Those Cameras, Cuz I Luv How It Makes The Video Look! Do U Have Any Recommendations On What To Get and What I'll Need To Have The Same Amount Of Quality as your video?
I've seen this vid a couple of times and im really impressed! How did you manage to get rid of all the darn vignetting that the redrock causes? I have issues with that. I'm also using a hvx200 and a redrock m2 cinema. Right now i'm zoomed in to z76 and it wont dissapear eventhough that's the recomended setting? I'm also using the hardmount kit, maybe I should encrease the distance between the cameralens and adapter by putting stepringsbetween or something?
@AdmirSarajevo Thanks for the compliment. Sorry I never saw this post. Hopefully you managed to get your adapter setup properly and were able to capture some beautiful images.
@jderango oh of course. thats on the list too. I'm in school for film production and most of the recommendations have been shooting towards the hvx200. That adapter makes it look so clean.
@jderango do you need just the adapter or is there step-up/down rings needed as well? could you by any chance send me the link to where you bought the exact thing?
They are quite similar. I prefer Redrock as a company. They have an incredible support staff and quality product. If you are looking into renting or buying, I'd give Redrock a chance...
AndraFilm, not sure who answered you here, but as far as this video goes, it was pretty straight forward. I used a Panasonic HVX 200 with an original Redrock M2 adapter and Nikon primes. If memory serves me, I used no filtration. I also used my Kino Flo ring light extensively to get that mid 90's hip-hop reflection in his glasses. The lighting also plays a huge role in making any video interesting. The flash frames were done in camera by reflecting the throw of the ring light with my hands.
What else was used to make the video look like this? I am sure you guys used some techniques or equipment to make it look like this. Great work. I would like to music videos that look this good. Would love some feedback. Thanks!
there is the cinematography, the lighting, teh actor placement and lots of other thigs involved in making those videos. filters and lenses are a big help with the lighting.
Great job

It's a good camera, but it wouldn't have looked nearly as great without the Redrock M2 35mm adapter

@jderango Great video but I have a question wts the differnce between Nikon primes and Zeiss thanks a lot
tareq1897 1 year ago
It is just going to be the overall quality of the glass. Nikon makes good lenses, but Zeiss tends to make great lenses.
Also, Nikon can refer to the mount. Nikon makes lenses with a Nikon mount, but Zeiss also makes lenses in a Nikon mount. Hope this helps.

@jderango Can you hook up a bigger lcd monitor to the hvx200 and what kind of editing software did you use?
