Keep in mind this is a VERY outdated review. Pre is actually one of the best platforms for gaming now, it actually has more solid 3D games than Android. The release of the PDK changed everything, with real hardware acceleration. The Pre plays Gameloft games like N.O.V.A. as well as Android devices with double the RAM and clock speed. I know because my little brother has the HTC Droid Incredible, so I've seen them both run. Android actually is less efficient than WebOS as of now despite JIT.
All of you who say one phone or another is a POS because YOU break it are just stupid. Quit breaking your phone! One more thing, don't buy stuff when it first comes out. No one fully tests and does good QA R&D anymore... especially on electronics. I have a used Palm Pre, that was very abused and everything works on it. So I can't say what others were doing to those poor phones. If it's any testimony, I test the Windows Phone 7 daily and I have access to all the latest hardware- WebOS is better.
@KoinGames well they do have a point with the pre, i have ordered a pre and have been looking into the pre community. you see a LOT of faulty pres. i really doubt it is the consumer in these cases. some people never have problems though. even so i love webos so i'm all with you there. if i have to deal with subpar or hit and miss hardware to get it, so be it. it's better than my moment and my hero. people have been putting the pre's radio into pre pluses for more storage ram and solid hardware.

Absolutely. As long as I don't have to deal with Sprint's PR, I really like the service. But I have had many issues with them in the past. They even charge $ (or used to) just to talk to a live person! They'd rather run you through all the automated service crap, in which I just kept getting the run around & it was hard to get an operator. If it weren't for the fact that my entire family uses Sprint (free mobile to mobile), I'd have switched carriers long ago.

I ran several tests myself just to begin with lets go with durability, starting with the pre I dropped it out of a car door and destroyed it, the iphone? I dropped it from a three story building onto flat concrete and it suffered a minor scratch with no errors, test two the toilet drop, then stuck each in a jar of rice and waited three days, and behold the iPhone was revived, it has now been two weeks and that pre is fried (pre was different but iPhone the same)
really if ur looking for these kinda phone my advice is pick ur carrier the pick ur phone. but if ur on AT&T I feel bad for u cause AT&T has a crapy network.

The Pre looks nice, but I would never go back to Sprint. I had them a couple years back and rarely had a strong signal. Now I have my iPhone 3GS and my Verizon phone. I really love AT&T, I have a relative strong signal wherever I go. I will be canceling my Verizon account this month. I don't want to sound like a Apple fanboy, but this is my first iPhone and I love everything about the phone. The only feature the Pre has that I wish the iPhone wold have is the flash vdeo on the web.

I have both...the Pre is the best for programming...the OS is way better than the Iphone...the only thing that the iphone has is apps...but remember that the pre is only a baby...the pre has not given me any problem accept for it's poor craftsmanship...other than that it can do ANYTHING the Iphone does and more...the google android is still playing catch up

The pre can try but seriously noone is going to understnd the true capabilities of these phones unless someone actually compares one to a jailbroken iphone, because everyone can fn do it and it makes the iphone capable of absolutely everything, the pre cannot even begin to think to step on the first stair it takes to get to the level the iphone is at, and no im not just some huge apple fan, just plain and simple every aspect of the DEVICE is better then every aspect of that piece of plastic crap

I ran several tests myself just to begin with lets go with durability, starting with the pre I dropped it out of a car door and destroyed it, the iphone? I dropped it from a three story building onto flat concrete and it suffered a minor scratch with no errors, test two the toilet drop, then stuck each in a jar of rice and waited three days, and behold the iPhone was revived, it has now been two weeks and that pre is fried (pre was different but iPhone the same)

The only bad thing so far about the Pre there's no video recorder..u can watch videos on it but cannot record how stupid...i wish windows was on it with wmp like my old treo so now i have to either buy new music mp3 or convert all my old music files

the only reason the iPhone did so well was because they marketed properly, they directed it towards the teenage population while at the same time making it a business man type phone. the G1 is actually pretty good...but their advertising for it was pathetic-also-iPhone is released Globally, i dont even think the G1 was released outside of the USA or Japan (japan has everything lol)

U probably have never even touched a palm pre... They are totally different phones... back etc are used by swiping the phone using a finger gesture.. they have some simular features but by no means are really close to having the same interphase... get off apples botoxed balls.. They both are cool phones.. depends on what u like.. I can always tell when somebody just seems to be talking

just copped my pre and i tell ya palm is back havent stop playing wit it since yesterday my bf has a iphone and my best cuz has the g1. i used to be jealous but not anymore the pre is hot love it. been a sprint cust since 04 wouldnt switch for the world unless att comes out wit a cheaper plan but for now i very very happy with sprint...

The Pre looks nice, but I would never go back to Sprint. I had them a couple years back and rarely had a strong signal. Now I have my iPhone 3GS and my Verizon phone. I really love AT&T, I have a relative strong signal wherever I go. I will be canceling my Verizon account this month. I don't want to sound like a Apple fanboy, but this is my first iPhone and I love everything about the phone. The only feature the Pre has that I wish the iPhone wold have is the flash vdeo on the web.

Agree with every point, the flash is due to the linux based OS on the pre....really too bad that the iPhone doesn't have flash (otherwise there would be no reason to have any other phone than the iPhone)

thank you for such an unbiased good review. its funny to see all the iphone users talk shit about the pre like its some sort of threat to their master(steve jobs). I almost cant take any of these kids seriously when they pay money to break thier current mobile phone contracts to side with at&t and the iphone because the "cool kids" are doing it. the pre and iphone are both amazing smart phones, both having pros and cons that the other doesnt, but also consider that the iphone is 2 yrs old

I have both...the Pre is the best for programming...the OS is way better than the Iphone...the only thing that the iphone has is apps...but remember that the pre is only a baby...the pre has not given me any problem accept for it's poor craftsmanship...other than that it can do ANYTHING the Iphone does and more...the google android is still playing catch up

i think the iPhone is better because it runs smoother and faster in comparison to any other phone ive ever used or had. iPhone is the best yes becuase of its apps. but look at what those apps have done. they've refreshed a really 'crap' market and some of them have saved lives. and iPhone has got other phone companies scared. if you dont believe me look at the LG Arena. what has happned since iPhones release? loads of touch screens competitors. like this pre.
