  • Nice trakkies lmaoo

  • how long does 1 tank last???

  • fail lol

  • just follow hpi getting started guide

  • lol break in is a pain in the ass

took me 30 minutes just to get it to idle and not die out

is tornado fuel good?? apparently blue thunder and tornado 20% the only thing my hobby shop sells..

  • ok idleing a tank is a horrible idea because you dont get sufficient engine lubrication

  • first off, you NEVER break an engine in on grass, it increases the friction/resistance required for the idle process, bad idea, number two, first thing you do is adjust the idle so the wheels don't spin, number three you didnt mention richening the high speed needle until a steady amount of raw fuel is drippin out from the exhaust, number four, monitoring break in engine temps using either spit method (less accurate obviously) or a $15 handheld temp gun, there ya go

  • @jaroncyr no u dont i broke my nitro in on grass and he probly has the trotle trim high and u dont ned a heat gun

  • can u use this method with any nitro offroad vehicle soon i'll be getting a Ansmann Vapor and was wondering wheather u cud use this method?

  • U bist Deutscher denn alle Sachen sind von Conrad

  • Könnte ein paar einstellungen gebrauchen

  • good video bro and nice savage. savage are very reliable then again most hpi cars and truck are reliable. A whole lot better then traxxas that for sure. Also team associated and losi.

  • @gateway123456778900 AMEN on da traxxas thing.

  • i followed the directions on the manual sooo...it said break in process involves 3-4 tanks of fuel...6th tank i was goin full throttle is that ok??? everything thing is fine though in ma savage r/c

  • einfahren immer auf aspahlt sonst muss der motor sich so anstregen

  • OMG!

1st tank of gas you idle it, 2nd tank you give it 3/4 throttle for 2-3 seconds at a time, 3rd tank of gas you give it 1/2 throttle for 2-3 seconds at a time, 4th tank of gas you give it full throttle for 3-4 seconds at a time, 5th - 7th tank of gas you simply take it easy and tune your truck in the process !!

  • first up 25% fuel is a no go secondly running the car in on grass is a bit daunting as it could stall almost every time for other people...and last of all at least there are a few people on youtube who are actually helping others with their cars you being one of them and many others keep up the good work you get 5 stars from me m8 UK all da way!!!

  • When running in a engine you don't want to go to easy on it because it will glaze and never run in properly but you don't want to be to hard on it causing overheating i.e head warping, seizing etc....... Some people say run it in like you would use it. Others worship their engine. But in the end you are the one who has to use it, do what you feel comfortable with.

  • Ah they dont use piston rings dude, with a two stroke/4stroke engine that uses piston rings you are correct but these are two stroke ringless motors that use the pinch of the piston and sleeve, with these motors a slow rich break in at low throttle is the best, my sts.28 runs PERFECT because I took my time during break in.

  • ahh thanks.....but i could have swore my gs had rings mmm..... what was i smoking.. lol

  • na dog u only use 20 percent nitro cause it is the perfect amount of nitro and lubricant.

  • you can not use 25% fuel if it is a brand new engine you can't be that into rc if you did not know that m8

  • is a savage x 4.6 reliable? do they over heat and are they easy to maintain? please reply

  • yes the savage x is good for you

  • im looking to get a savage 4.6 and i have had a HPI MT2, and havnt had much luck had to use three diff engines in the ned looking to sell it now. Is the 4.6 reliable? plz can anyone answer this question?

  • they are pretty damn good engines. i would rather have an axial .32 though

  • Just to add to your point about the after run oil... after you run your engine, a little oil from the fuel is left in the bottom of the carbereter. This is fine if you use your car regularly as it will just rinse it out the following time. However, if you are planning to leave it for over two weeks then u may want to undo the glow plug and empty any oils in the engine. This increases the life of the engine and helps the engine to run smoother. The oil can also prevent the car from starting.

  • Do You Have to put after rune oil???? because i dont.

  • Well it makes the engine last alot longer, in the fuel there is methonlol which obsorbs moisture and can rust the engine up a bit, after run oil stops this from happening.

  • Ok thanks

  • @jakegwilliam ok mr know it all 1.) it is nitromethane and it is volatile which means it evaporates and 2.) it protects against rusting it doesn't stop it oxidation is gonna happen

  • why use after run oil? can you explain please?

  • it pre vents corrosion inside the engine.

  • did your savage start that easy the first time you got it out of the box

  • it was a bit of a pain as it was cold so i brought in indoors for 20 mins let it warm a bit ,it was startign then cutting out and then after a while it started, i had a problem though, my throttle increased to like half throttle and stripped my spur, had to get a new one but it was the positoing of the enigne. i repositioned it and it is like the perfect spot it has only stripped twice but i dont take out the engine, i remove the gear case top as it makes it 10x easier compared to my savage 25

  • ok thanks

  • hi m8 how much did u pay for your savage because i relly want one because i have got hpi firestorm and i have run 7 tanks through it it now it wont start:(

  • check for common problems, check glow plug replace if nessecary, reset needle if it wont start reset it then unscrew it to half a turn, check your idle, could be the clutch/bell.

i got my savage for bout £300 quid but that was like 2 years ago so they are going down in price a little bit, btw you might want the savage x 4.6 with reverse as it comes with it and i got it in my savage it is really good.

  • pinche vato pendejo

  • gd vid tho mark latest coment as spam

  • these cars are exactly the same as a reall car you the engine instuction manual will tell you the oposit to wat the car muanul does you should go staight out and drive straight away

and give it little bits of throttle for the 1st tank then a bit more throttle on the next tank

im tellin you not to go this because you lose performence this way

  • No these rc cars are NOT exactly the same as a lambo this is the proper way to break in a Nitro Engine (Not just the savage) Doing it practically any other way can lead to engine failure/lockups down the road. Get some facts before you start posting. And, by god learn to use some punctuation.

  • sorry mate but youre running the engine in the rong way

if you just bought a brand new lambo you wouldnt jack it up on bricks and let it idle now would you......

  • what a noob (rcdandennis) take off the air filter why its running to put in after run oil TWAT

  • letting a new engine idle for a whole tank is hard on it, you actually should bring a motor up to operating temp by driving it, around 200 degrees, and driving on short grass is not too bad but it still heats up the motor( too much load on it) it is soo funny seeing people tuning their cars and trucks without using a temp gun! the smart people use them and retune their engines every day they drive(cause every days temp and humidity are different)

  • 1. you not supposed to drive it on grass.

damn during break in i was flooring it up and down the road, jumping it off hills and straight up bashing and no troubles

  • cool vid how many tanks until brock in iv done 3 and when do i lean the engien

and i take the air filter off and put 2-3 drops of after run oil in the carb while its runing and then cut the car off

  • what is the extender for? does it make the savage go faster? or stronger? I got one and when I installed it think that my savage runs stronger and faster than it did before, but I dont realy know maybe its just my imagination ;)

  • The extender is to keep the oily exhaust from getting on the truck. After a few tanks without it you will have an oily buildup on your rear susspension. As for increasing performance ,it will create a little more backpressure, wich is what pressurizes your fuel tank, wich inturn helps the carb to get fuel ; so in theory it could help your performance although not by much.Hope this helps

  • good vid but bad mistake with starting it up, first thing, do not rush to take out your auto starter and as soon as u start your car wait 6-10 seconds before taking out your glow starter, r could risk of damaging ur glow plug over all, good vid

  • Why would your glow plug get damaged? I never heard of that.

  • because its not true it will damage your glow plug if you leave it in

  • That's exactly the way I always thought about it.

  • nice vid man

  • nice video kidda, missed a few bits like ya acctually ment to work up to half throttle thenlet off and cruse instead of hold it on and the idle was way to hing and acctually the best thing to check would be the glow plug.

ignore all the people havin ago tho its more or less right. your defo right about the roto start, the new one is crap, speeds up to slow, i used my old one for my girlfriends savage x.

  • wrong!!!!! u never break and engine in like that

  • BAAAAD when the car stars the wheels are supose to STAY STILL!! not go full power -.-"

  • not when its new

  • @MihailTube my reply may be late by about two years but what you said is NOT true!

A brand new engine is set to a specific point so that it has a good idle and runs rich, by this I mean IT IS ONLY FOR BREAK IN! You have to tune the engine afterwards, this is not how it will be set permanently. The engien is not at full power like you stated it is simply idling in its break-in stage....If you don't know what you're talking about don't post anything!

  • Nice little vid.

    Cheers.

  • DOH, engine guard fitted :D

  • Excellent video buddy, thanks to you i have just broken in my Savage 4.6 RTR, now to figure out how the engine guard fits ....

  • To prime yr engine u can also give it a little press by your mouth into a presssure line, is a litta bit easier :, i do tht :)

  • Good vid m8, i got savage x ss with rs.28 monster evo nosram engine :)

  • very nice video.. you know about RC very well

  • nicee

  • this video is going to held alout

    i'm going to get a savage x 4.6

    thanks bra

  • huh you from london i never knew ppl out side of the us use rc wow

  • oh yes we use RC cars btw i live in the south

    west of UK

  • yeah my mate went to america and came back with a hpi savage 25 since then i wanted one so im getting 1 for christmas and we live at the very top of england where it is not as popular for rc but my wate lives down the road from me so that quiet good for me...someone too race

  • it really doesnt matter if u do or you dont have someone to race with you will still have a shit load of fun =)

  • it looks like youre doing it for5 year olds,

  • Ok, jake, ill give you a comment ON topic. I really enjoyed your howto. the commentry was a little hard to hear at times, but it was good nonetheless. I dont know how old you are, but kepp up the good work! and keep on R/Cin

  • i agree with netbird

NEVER break it in on grass, always on a long flat surface

  • Comment removed

  • no thats for traxxas only use after run oil

  • Comment removed

  • so u can use it as fuel sweet lol

  • Hold it. Why would you put a deflector on when breaking in your new savage? take that damn thing off.

  • NEVER break-in a car in other pavement than concrete. that grass resistance is going to put too much effort in the motor for the first run...but that's just my opinion

  • Ok sorry to ruin the fun but the savage x ss does not reach 60mph, its just not possible! A hyper 7 with a 2 speed and other upgrades may just but never, never a savage!!! To get your savage to have a big top speeed you would need a spur gear that has less gears than stock and a three speed transmission and engine so lean that it would blow. HPI lie when they tell you these figures. I would say a savage x 4.6 would get to about 38 mph stock.

  • half way into the break in of my savage something happend to me roto start so it wrong go im gutted

  • Haha wow. My roto start broke in the middle of break in to. The button is completly stuck. I found out you can use a drill to start the savage. I am untill HPI sends me a new rotostart.

  • man the same happened to me but i have a savage 25

  • HPI fails at break-in, lol

  • sometimes after run oil can do more harm than good in certain engines. dont know about the savage.

  • hpi always say is the best thing

  • i would just like to say that that video about the savage x 4.6 RTR hitting 60MPH is tosh, that's why it was removed from the site! it was the radar gun glitching

  • SO wait... The very first time it started when you let it idle for one whole tank- when the wheels spinning is that idle? Or should the truck not be moving? What if it starts up and the wheel spins but it starts to go faster and faster?

  • you need to mess with the idle speed dont open it to much keep it going but not running out of control

  • yo SVPrelude thats normal...if the enginegets hot u mught have 2 give a very tiny amount of break. and if when i broke in my savage x i did 8 tanks just for the hell of it....cuz ur only goin 2 do it once.

  • I have a savage x 4.6 and that is not the way you break in an engine. But whatever do it ur way, and the savage x geos up to 60 mph.

  • Very helpful. Thanks

  • nice vid...very helpful for someone who dont know about nitro engines !!!

    THANK`S !

  • it goes faster than that it goes 96 KM\h thats 60 MPH!!!(look on the hpi site)

  • Cool.

  • Ok, I asked you, is it X or X 4.6?

  • savage x

  • Anyway, ok. So, is that's Savage X OR X 4.6? Is it really fast?

  • yeah it goes 44mph

  • And you should NEVER put anything inside the engine!

  • yes you should after run oil is a must have

  • The wheels should stay stationary, not spinning that fast!

  • yes, very true my freinds, i noticed dat as well, i was liwk wtf?!?!?

  • nice vid...very helpful for someone who dont know about nitro engines

  • its my pleasure

  • i though it was how to break a savage lol, Thanks alot for the video.

  • great break in video mate thanks for ure help

  • cleared all my doubts, thankyou mate

  • cheers for that mate, i wasn't 100% on how to do it, now i do, thanks!

  • that was well gd u no well loads i dnt no a thing bout mine apart from startin and drivin lol

  • thanks

  • loll wat fun is it then??? if u cant go into the basics.....its just a toy then , isnt it?

  • You have a very good grasp of the subject!! Well Done, Perfect Break In.

  • yes it was broken in but it is the same methord

  • was that car already run in

why not use the hpi vid

  • well i read the manuals and go on hpi support

  • how do you know so much about hpi cars lol!

  • how much does the carb have to be open for the break in on the stand (static break in).

    thanx

  • u turn on the transmiter and reciver and then start it up u don not need to mess with the opening

the radio goes this for u

  • they shud be flush withe the groove.

  • that truck is bigger than u

  • hey m8 how old r u?

  • thirteen

  • do not run your car for the break in on the grass
