I hear the usual sterotypical comments with furry related topics.. Always a bunch of teens saying it's "a bunch of freaks want to rape animals/children," or "they think they're animals." When really, the fandom doesn't really matter by how it appears, it matters which furry you run into.
Due to the fact there has actually been child molestation taking place in churches, or teachers assaulting children.. It's easy to say that with any religion or crowd, you will have a troublemaker within.
Man.... I just don't understand. It would be less creepy and wierd, if you could actually have human emotions in the face area. But when you're in you're costume. You guys basically, look like walking sports mascots. i mean. I like the animals in animated movies that talk and have human emotions. But as a two legged standing figure... no that's just..... idk. It's almost like you guys are trying to fufill a fantasy, like everyone in the world is anamorphic.I try to be respectful. but it's WIERD!
@kylem1112 one step at a time they have masks with moving mouths and tear ducts and all sorts maybe that could be the next leap forward? Who knows. But you can (from what I've seen) get or make a mask with an incredibly high level of detail that look nothing like mascots at all I'll send you a link.
Rule 34... there is a porn for EVERY possible subject ever. There's balloon popping porn, sakes alive. I do not particularly agree with Yiff myself, but putting the spotlight on one particular group so often and so harshly would seem kind of unfair. If I was a troll, i'd put my energy into putting down pedophiles.
@fluteplayer7mce I hear ya. Truth is, this first documentary of mine was filmed using a convenience sample for interviewees (aside from 2 and Kage, who were hand-picked). Unfortunately, the only female who volunteered for an interview at the time had to cancel last minute on the last day of the convention. My next documentary will represent a deliberate effort to find more diversity in interviewees.
is it strange to think like this: i like furry art (and steampunk, but that isn't relevant) but i don't consider myself a furry: i don't wear furry clothes or make art myself. then again, i only found about in january of this year. but if genetics would find a way to make real furries, i'd be one fo the first to sing up, although you will never see me in a suit. is this really that strange?
@FL0D0S I don't think it's strange at all. Furry fandom is a very broad umbrella encompassing many different kinds of people who share an interest in the idea of the anthropomorphized animal. It lacks any central leadership or entry requirements. So really, if you feel you're a furry, you are one.
@FL0D0S real furries will be created when scientists find a way to splice human and animal genes, which if you listend to Loverboy... you'll get your referance=P
@FL0D0S it's a south park referance where Cartman tries to have a crossing betwen a pig and elephant and when they tell Chef they said it can't be done, he said "Oh children, haven't you heard that song from Loverboy? "Pig and elephand genes won't splice~"" etc. XP
I really wish furries existed, I'd like a lil short tigress to keep me company and cuddle her when I feel like it.<3
It's just like anime. People like anime, I like anime, so does that make me like hentai? Nope. I am also a furry, doesn't mean I like to 'Yiff'. I'm in it for the art and the fursuits. Next time furry haters, think about that.
I suppose it's not mandatory to have a fursona. It's just that our fursonas represent who we want to be...personality wise. Our fursonas are either just cuddly fuzzy version of us (or scaley , etc), or it's a representation of traits we want to be like, like being kind, confident, powerful, compassionate or even angry and ready to vent. Plus furries are into anthropomorphic animals. Animals that are like humans. We're already human, why wouldn't we make an animal side to us =)
I don't have any professional or academic experience with documentaries, I just watch a lot of them. It seems like this was more of a casual for fun project, but it's kind of dull :( I do like how it is mostly interviews and hearing from real people, but I would have liked to seen a better mix of furry footage with the interview audio laid over that. With this I feel like it should be some kind of podcast since there isn't much relevant stuff to look at. I still enjoyed watching though!
As a side-note, everyone, constructive criticism and reasoned points of view are welcome here, but outright inflammatory comments will be removed. Let's try to be adults. Thanks!
@LegendxWind you dont have to be a fur to be open-mined or be able to speak their minds and yourself. being a furry is your choice, not others. be who you want to be.

I always kind of wondered about the fandom, and I'm seeing that it's a way to kind of express who you are without being scared. I like it.
