If u surf like taj u could ride anything and make it look good. the boards are like riding stiff pieces of wood. overrated and they do snap unlike the videos suggest.
I have had a couple of firewires. My first was the 5'11 taj model which felt way to small and had so much rocker on it that it rode worse in small waves and so much rocker that it didnt work in the flats or weaker waves. I tried the direct drive, which was just horrible all around, it felt like riding a stiff piece of wood. I then decided to buy the 6'0 flexfire FST. So far I have ridden it about 10 times. It feels better but its still not that great. Can you work these boards in over time?
firewire's are sick i have a 6'0 flexfire and a 6'2 alternator and i put them through there paces and there hard to ding ...... top boards ....... although my mate has snapped 3 taj's
surfa, I've got a Firewire Fishtail (twin). I'm 6' and 180lbs, and I ride mine at 5'6". I own an Aviso Lost Carbon Fiber as well, and that little fish is THE FASTEST board I've ever set foot on. Damn thing almost came out from under me the first time I rode it, and that was on like 2 foot waves. Unfuckingbelievable. I don't agree that they're indestructable, but they are way tougher than PU boards. My biggest pro for these is the performance. Absolutely bombing rides on these things.
Factory board. Obviously there's going to be a difference between a custom and a factory, since you can dial in the specs to suit your riding style on a custom, but I don't feel the need to after riding mine. As far as materials go, no, I wouldn't imagine there's be much difference between Taj's boards and the factory offered models. Perhaps a bit more glass to toughen it up since he pulls big airs as often as he does, but otherwise, I'm pretty sure they're congruent.
i'm pretty sure if u buy tajs board you'll be riding the same one that he owes (1 of the boards he owns of course) firewires are extremely light. and like ben cool said pro surfers ride boards way more fragile (and lighter) then we do cause they need to pull big airs and they can afford lots of boards and we can't. i ride hand shaped epoxy surfboards and the only difference is the flex. u can feel it on turns. trust me those boards ding
@surfa01234 They go great! Very fast, light and responsive. The Taj model is pretty must Taj's exact board. The only real difference is he had glassed in fins.
They are also experimenting with the materials in Taj's boards this year but if those changes become permanent they will be incorporated into the Taj pro model also.
Just got a brand new 6'0 Dominator. Still waiting for the waves to get good, its just sitting there calling me.

The New Taj board is epic, loads of flex and snap, watching these videos makes you realise how fast Taj is, this board produces some serious speed.

are you saying pros have more glass on their board??
you have no idea
they have less glass because they need to be able to air higher so they need a light board,... its all about performance you fucktard
