great game.. shows the benefit of original scoring 81 back to 8 6 fantastic. unlucky for white there but he showed great resilience not to give up on match ball
Could someone explain what happens starting about 30 - player rather lazily walks right from centre and casually plays shot and next time finds himself completely in way of a forehand drive. But his opponent doesn't ask for let (and to my mind an obvious point) he just plays his shot, avoiding hitting him, and they play on.
I thought that was weird too. It looked like it could have been a stroke pretty easily. However, I think that maybe the camera angle made it look worse than it was. They're both at virtually the same depth in the court (White is slightly further forward), so White isn't really blocking the shot and Gaultier has almost the entire front wall to work with. I don't think there was any interference. I disagree with shadowbillyphone. I think the danger was the ref would call "no let" had he stopped.
you can't watch it like this, it's a mime act

Why do they keep wiping their hands against the wall inbetween points?

I think it's because there is still a risk that the referee would call it a "Let" but it is a winning opportunity so he decided to play instead.
Anyway, I could be wrong.

Gaultier is a great player, I just hate his attitude.

I do not know why the guys are complaining. The ball is clearly seen - small white fly that White is trying to smash on the wall.

European individual championship. Finals: John White vs. Gregory Gaultier. John was 1:8 down in the fifth. This is where the video starts...
