  • I really enjoyed this game because it did away with the traditional gaming structures of tiered levels with boss fights and item collection, focusing purely on platforming and puzzle-solving with occasional enemies in a coherent environment. It's a single escort mission taking place within one gigantic puzzle. Very well done I thought.

  • Just finished the PS3 HD version this morning. Never played it before. It is a gorgeous game with a beautiful ending.

  • This reminds me a lot of Link escaping from the castle with Zelda at the beginning of Zelda: A Link to the Past...

  • This game is awesome!!!!!

  • Never played a game as good as this. I bought the game purley on a magazine review ,never thinking i would be so spellbound by a boy with horns rescuing a damsell ln distres. A gob smaking game

  • Este juego es bueno pero me gusta mucho shadow of the colossus el que no lo jugo no sabe lo que se pierde ese juego es excelente !!

  • damn.....

  • This is my favorite game of all time si got the remakes

  • ...and they should've made the controls so u can hold and release the girl Yodra with just one click on R1. Who wants to hold down R1 all the time to drag her around....? NONE I tell you! What were the gametesting crew thinking there...?

  • @ZnApPy Sorry mate, I can assure you that the gametesting crew rarely has anything to say in the matter - it's the developer who makes the game and the rules. And if he says you've got to hold down R1 all the time then it's just that.

  • @ZnApPy You can choose to have it either way in the re-release. I prefer holding it down. It connects me more with the game and I am sure that was intended. However, with that said, I trust you did not let one gameplay element deter you from this great work.

  • @Grothmanus oh no no, it was a great game overall. Or well not like the SUPERGAME, but it was a game you can enjoy and take your time with, quite beautiful sometimes too. I didnt realize you had that option in the re-release?? That was actually the one I played, I clearly must've missed it! Thats an annoying thing to figure out after you cleared the game, gosh..

  • @ZnApPy Ah, well, if memory serves, It was in the options and you select "button ____". I forget the exact terms, but there should only be one option speaking of controls. I did not know until my second playthrough since I figured it was basically a keybindings option. Luckily, if you have not played the second time through with its extra features, you can surely do it again with your annoyance removed. Hope that was useful.

  • This is a really good game overall if you like the concept, I myself enjoyed it anyways. If you are a gamer who have been playing too much actionrelated games lately and just wanna chillout and think without time pressure and so on, this is the perfect game. The only bad thing I can say about the game is that they made a few minor misstakes including the first crane-lever around the Crane area not being useful at all to your advantage and the slow bitch Yorda climbing too slow at ladders..

  • I got stuck when I first gained control of ICO's movement. Fuck this

  • Comment removed

  • Love this game, even though you rage quit at a few times when Yorda decides to run to the pretty birdie unstead of to you, its still a fun game! Cant wait for 2 player version to come out, itll get rid of the only thing i didnt like in this game. If you dont like the game, dont post crap about it in here. People like me like the game and if you dont like it, you dont need to tell the world by using cuel language and hurtful things about it. Keep it to yourself if it could hurt others. Thanks.

  • @lyokocats9000

fuck you bitch. if you like it then dont post shit here. people like me come here to hate on the game and if you liked it you dont have to tell the world about it using stupid language that makes you sound like a fag or child with temper issues. rage quit? thats just cause you suck. keep it to yourself cause it could annoy others. thanks.

  • @k1n63d ME sound like a child with temper issues? Um...I think you need to re-read what you wrote, hun. And if it annoys you, dont post publicly like this, if you would like to talk to me, please be mature for once in your life and send me a private message. Thanks.

  • @lyokocats9000

yeah you! you retarded stupid ass immature little bitch. private message? you shouldve done that from the start. guess you failed at being mature. bitch man cunt

  • @k1n63d How old are you?

  • @fmcneillii

    Older than you.

  • @lyokocats9000 man read everything you wrote was exactly right

  • @kennedymarlonlopesde

    shut up bitch! lmao!

  • gay ass game. lame as hell. boring music. dragging around a useless bitch bimbo. faggot ass child with the stupidest fucking outfit. art? fuck you all, your idiots. boy was this game a colossal fuck up. underrated? no it sucked ass plain and simple. i got it when it first came out too thinking it was going to be good but man was it punishment to play. i couldnt play it for too long or id fall asleep literally. halfway through it i gave up. the story sucked so much ass it wasnt worth finishing.

  • @k1n63d It seems you didn't get the point of the game. People tend to hate things they don't understand.

  • @TengvallCompany

tell me the point. after knowing the point ill go play it again and ill see if it still sucks. if it does then your statement is incorrect.

  • @k1n63d Right, where do I begin... First: the point of the game, seen from the creators view, was to experiment with the technique, in details of layout, how to work the camera ect. It was also ment to give players a different view on what a game could make you feel (vibration when Jorda can´t handle the speed to make you symphetise with her and such).

Finaly: even if you hear the point, it doesnt mean you get it, since you still have to see what I'm saying first.

  • @k1n63d You're one of those guys who falls asleep during 2001, aren't you? There is a reason it was so well received by critics and nearly everyone who played it, and that is because it was worth finishing.

  • @Grothmanus

no. this game was not received well. critics opinions do not matter in games or food and very little in movies. "nearly everyone who played it" is just your small weak opinion. the game is not worth finishing at all. you failed in all aspects of your response including the insult about 2001.

  • @k1n63d Actually, I was not insulting 2001--it was a terrific film--I was insulting you. This could bee seen as a failure "of your response," and I would not be opposed to such a notion. Critics do not matter much in the long run; however, we look to someone who has more insight on a particular subject than laymen for determining whether we invest in a game, film, etc. Now, as to ICO's reception, it actually was received well by critics and a sizable portion of those who played it.

  • @Grothmanus

actually no. film? i dont see "2001: A Space Odyssey" anywhere in your previous rant so you AGAIN failed at trying to be witty. you failed because you cant be witty yet have no actual wit. A laymen huh? well sir you are wrong again. you would have been correct but sadly you were born in the wrong century. in todays world there is something called "Game Play Footage" and "Trailers" a person just needs that or common sense to know whether to invest in a game or not.

  • @k1n63d Actually, it is in there. 2001 usually refers to the Kubrick film. I am not trying to be witty, I am simply stating my points and refuting yours. Gameplay footage does not tell one much about a game just as a trailer tells us little of the quality of a movie. A review tells us a little more in depth as to what work in a game and what does not in their opinion. With this, we are given a little more to go on as to whether we should buy, rent, etc. From there, we form our opinions.

  • @Grothmanus

no see, if you really need all that bs you mentioned just to know if you should buy a game then you are taking these games too seriously or you are very cheap. you are also assuming everybody out there is as much of a old film trivia freak like yourself. most people do not here "2001" and immediately think "of course! the old Kubrick film!" most think of other things like the beginning of a new era or the terrorist attack or just the actual year in general.

  • @k1n63d I do not allow the review to determine if I buy a game. I allow it to give me insight as to the games quality and whether I should invest in it for full price, wait for a price drop, or rent in case it turns out to not be what I was hoping. The overall score from critics tend to be in line with the public opinion anyway, so it is an "okay" basis for pre-judegment. You are making the mistake of assuming that one should base their opinions solely on a review. I do not condone that.

  • @k1n63d As to the 2001 comment, the film was at a level so groundbreaking that most people do know of it. It is not a very old film, either, and it sure as hell does not feel dated as some films do.

  • @Grothmanus

a critic's job is useless. its a job that was made popular back in the days when travel was hard and word of mouth was a reliable thing. but today critics job is pointless. anybody dependant on it is really lying to himself. everybody is an individual and has different tastes. if anybody's job should be taken away for good it should be all critics. if a critic says a food is great but i taste it and it SUCKS.., or if he says a game is great but i play and it SUCKS, etc

  • @k1n63d A critic still has a purpose in society, but I will agree that it is greatly diminished with the sheer amount of options available to the public. However, we have gotten for from my point that there is a reason why most people and critics liked this game. I differentiate critics and the public to show that it was also well received by those in a more enlightened status when it comes to a particular medium. It was to show that most people do not agree with you statement.

  • @Grothmanus

a critic serves no purpose in society. their opinions are irrelevant. your small circle of film junkies does not count as "most people". if you go to random people and say

"You're one of those guys who falls asleep during 2001, aren't you?" i guarantee you they will not know what you are referring to. the movie was made in the 60s buddy, trust me everything about it is dated. your love for film and the hype it received must be why you think otherwise.

  • @Grothmanus

ok then if the game breaks some kind of significant record this second time at bat then you will be correct and i will abandon my negativity towards this game. but i bet you that the game will come and go like nothing. fan boys are the only guys foolish enough to waste money on it and the few dumbass kids who were convinced by the fanboys. this game is lame.

  • @Grothmanus

same for movies. point is that their jobs are just opinions and are irrelevant. if the critics study film and know about film in depth then they are not the average person so their opinions and criticism should best be saved for sharing with their own kind. critics and audiences do not shared the same thoughts. so in short,... FUCK critics.

  • @Grothmanus

it did not do well at all which is why it came and went and nobody noticed. the amount of people who played it was too low to even care for which is why the game stayed as a sleeper title. its coming back a second time but yet it will probably break no record and not make any notable mark in the game industry. just a piece of shit game for piece of shit fan base lol.

  • @k1n63d No, it did not sell well, but it did do well from a critical point of view. Popularity does not correlate to quality. There are a number of movies that do poorly at the box office but are generally terrific films. Also, the NA release had awful box art, which did little to help its sales. The rest of your statement is a bit peculiar. It takes a certain kind of ignorance to maintain a game that was groundbreaking and original and claim the opposite.

  • @Grothmanus

critical point of view or not the game SUCKS. and if the game had quality then it would have exploded in sales eventually as time went on and people gave it a chance but yet it still didnt. true movies that suck at the box office do good later but thats exactly what im saying. later those movies sell like hot cakes on vhs, dvds, illegal piracy, etc... but this game did not. just a weak fan base trying to get others to like it.

  • @Grothmanus

if you knew anything about japanese culture or even the games that only come out in japan you would know there was nothing original about it or the story. spending a good time on detail for the background isnt ground breaking at all. the game sucked so bad and the colors were so pale and bland that they knew they should put detail in the background just to help its sales. all games should do that but time and budget puts limits on the final product.

  • @k1n63d if you do not like the game speaks for ninguen not want to read the idiocy that you escrevel: (

  • @kennedymarlonlopesde

Learn to proper English uneducated troll.

  • This is not a game

    This is a masterpiece.

  • The name of the song is 'you where there' by Steven Geraghty

  • One of my favorite games of all time.

The only PS2 game that is better IMO is Kingdom Hearts.

  • This is maybe the best videogame of PS world (my opinion)

  • I wish i knew the name of this song!

  • whats the name of this song. so awesome!

  • @eyworld Castle in the Mist

  • You can buy Shadow of the Colossus and ICO together for PS3 now :)

  • lolled at the description :D

    I'm buying it :)

  • I love you Sony, for inventing this game. But at the same time, I hate you so much for making it exclusive for the PS2. We need a classic like this on every platform from every generation.

  • @rushiosan there is a version for the ps3 console

  • @technicallyhuman Not released yet... it will be probably cancelled soon.

  • i want to play this so bad

  • I bought this remastered for ps3 and I seriously don't get how it's fun

  • @xxSyphenxx do you play MW3?

  • Awesome game!!!!

  • 1:13 oh yeah, imma ghost

  • YESSS i have been looking for this game for like 10 EFFING YEARS !!! FINALLY 8D 8D 8D

  • Give me shadow of the colossus 2 not these pussy games like last guardian.

  • @themcbossman have you even played last guardian?

  • @themcbossman If you think The Last Guardian is going to be a "pussy game", then the beauty of Ueda's work is honestly lost on you.

  • who have played shadow of the colossus?

  • Y know what song fits this game almost perfect? The Great Escape by Boys Like Girls

  • This and shadow of the colossus were both remastered in HD for the PS3. TODAY IS THE RELEASE DATE!!! 40 bucks for both games!

  • @XXSoosaXX94 legend fofdragoon is not underrated, it's right where it is supposed to be. it's not that great of a game like everyone makes it out to be. it was mediocre. game play was alright, music was kinda bland, story i didn't care for or captured me in any way.

  • I fuckin loved this game as a teen! Shit was epic.

  • @XXSoosaXX94 This game, and also Legend of Dragoon, are both, piece'o'heaven.

  • If i were Ico, i would protect Yorda, even if i had to die... I wish i could find a girl like her nowadays, so innocent, so weak... Nowadays, girls are too materialistics, too self centred, girls like Yorda are endangered...

  • @Ljungdurst my girl plays this game xd

  • Comment removed

  • @Ljungdurst

    Same goes for guys today

  • @TheDragonforce45 fuck you man. not every girl is some foolish damsel in distress that needs a prince charming to save her. this is the same as stupid girls who want handsome, courageous, altruistic men to sweep them off their feet and accept them wholeheartedly for all their faults. get with the times, you sexist bastard. we all exist in the grey areas

  • @KoroED daym bro/woman, I just think it's a sweet, silly, childish concept. I'm sure the creators of Ico meant the same.

  • @o00o0o0o0o0o i'm not saying anything about the game, because i thoroughly enjoyed it. what i'm commenting on is the blatant generalization of all rl-women and the stupid ideals placed upon them.

  • @KoroED He's not saying they are. He's not saying they should be. And to overreact to such a simple, benign comment is, indeed, 'foolish.'

  • @pseudogenesis Not that I think this conversation will be going anywhere, butttt "Nowadays, girls are too materialistics, too self centred, girls like Yorda are endangered..." <-- Obvious generalization of today's women. "I wish i could find a girl like her nowadays, so innocent, so weak..." <-- Praising such passive qualities as ideal shows support for female subordination.

Where would the world be if we never bothered to stand up to anything? No matter how trivial the matter.

  • @KoroED It's true that "Nowadays, girls are too materialistic and self-centred" is a generalization, but I'd say it was a fair one. I would agree, and extend it to say that nearly everyone today is too materialistic, men included. He's saying that he wishes contemporary women were less self-focused, particularly when it comes to beauty. I agree; I hate when women wear makeup, but that's just me.

  • @pseudogenesis Then singling out women as being materialistic instead of generalizing it to everybody makes it seem sexist and holier-than-thou. >:

And how are men's brains "hard wired" to feel attraction to vulnerable women? Isn't it fertile-looking women whom men biologically react to the most?

I'm not arguing against Yorda's character. But for the OP to wish that more women were like her simply means that he wants a woman that he can play hero to. It's all a matter of stroking his ego.

  • @KoroED Well yeah, but I don't think he did that. I think he just left it out because it was irrelevant to the topic.

And yes, men's brains are hard wired to feel attraction to vulnerable women. Nearly every female mammal is less muscular than the males of the species. This is because, in terms of mates, it's the male's job to protect the female while she's pregnant.

And yeah, men need their egos stroked, also. ^-^ Where've you been lol

  • @pseudogenesis Black widows, praying mantis females, and other species exist where the female have much more power than the male. There are plenty of cases.

I still stand by the point that men want strong, fertile women who look like they'll be able to withstand pregnancy. That's why fatter women were more desirable way back when we were cavemen, because frail/weak women would DIE.

    Men want their egos stroked, but how about women? I have pride too. ;_;

  • @KoroED That's why I said mammal. lol

And yes, they want that too, of course. Again, it's biologically programmed.

And, umm, take pride in the fact that women have earned their (Near, but not my fault, sorry) equality in most developed countries, and also the fact that women are more intuitive, and also live slightly longer on average. :D

  • @pseudogenesis Last comment:

Quick research into sexual dimorphism reveals that there are actually mammalian species with larger/more powerful females, but I admit that that they are not the majority.

The concept of a woman being "weak and innocent" contradicts one who is "strong and fertile".

Equality? Even for most developed countries, women are under-payed (compared to men who do the same job), hold less positions of power, underrepresented in government, sexually exploited in media, etc.

  • @KoroED Yes.

Fertile, yes. I can't explain why females are less muscular than males, although it may have something to do with using nutrients for childbearing.

And yes, all that is very true. But it is greatly improved in the recent few centuries, you must agree. I can't tell you why women are treated as inferiors; it makes no sense to me whatsoever.

  • @KoroED "I wish i could find a girl like her nowadays, so innocent, so weak..." Well, innocence isn't a passive or subordinate quality in women necessarily, but it is a desirable one. Men's brains (This is coming from a man, btw) are hard wired to feel strong emotional attatchment to girls or women that are innocent or vulnerable. It makes a lot of biological sense.

Yorda wasn't really a subordinate, either. :P She was only really physically weak because she was imprisoned all her life.

  • @TheDragonforce45 Why does a girl have to be "weak" in order to be the right kind of girl? Think for a moment: according to you, vulnerable, feeble girls are the ones who are doing it right. "Strong" does not mean cruel or selfish. There's a chance that what you idealize isn't as common as you want because you want people to be a way that's unpleasant. Celebrate the art, but don't let it control your opinions of the rest of the world. ;)

  • @TheDragonforce45 Go to Japan. Being a useless, retarded blob is literally their idea of beauty.

  • @Lioyd1rving lol nice racism but no that good trolling

  • @NarutoRocks2011 Dude, moe. Anime makes a fortune out of otakus fapping to these.

  • i got to get this! is this similar to shadow of the colossus?

  • @CIDVICIOUS831 Yes. Shadow of the Colossus is its spiritual successor an is therefore very similar to Ico (besides you killing giant freaking statues the size of a 25 story building lol)

  • @CIDVICIOUS831

It's not that similar actually. In SOTC you fight giant monsters, in ICO you solve some classic puzzles in one giant castle.

  • @CIDVICIOUS831 Yes the same team made both I belive... and there are verious loose plot connections too both. and a new game The Last Guardian is related as well.

  • this game is one of the best games i have ever played thank god its out on ps3

  • One of the best games I've played on the ps2. Beautiful graphics, excellent gameplay and a very good story.

I'm glad they re-releasing it for the ps3.

  • oh...oh my god. I am pre-ordering this.

  • Can someone be really nice and tell me what ico is about?

  • @voluzr

ok ico to his village ppl is a curse a bad omen, he has horns tht have grown out of his head. As a village tradition they take him to this castle to lock him there to die so tht the curse they think he placed on theyre village can be lifted. In the castle he meets this girl called Yorda and according 2my memory they help each other get out the castle and spirits of children from the village tht died try 2take yorda ..im not gonna say more n dnt look at wiki it'll ruin the story 4u lol

  • @voluzr

  • Oh, there's also a novelization of Ico that was just released in English in August 2011 called "Ico: Castle in the Mist".

  • Ico and Shadow of the Colossus are two of my most cherished games of all time. I still own both original copies, and can't wait to get the collection for PS3 this month!

  • best game ever..brilliant =)

  • is this better than call of duty?

  • @sirenomany666 Are action movies better than apples?

  • @stonecold88 well yes they are awsome!

  • @stonecold88

    No

  • @sirenomany666 ico is five times better, ;)

  • @sirenomany666

    ru kidding..yes lol

  • The music is so beautiful <3

  • I love the music. Where can i find it?

  • Who wants a life when you have a game like this and Kindom Hearts, seriously

  • @santichulito whoat?

  • i played this in the year 2001 no kidding ! this game was released in china way before it was released in england lol

  • yeah most ppl think and so do I think that Ico and shadow of the Colossus are connected but think about it (why would the 2 games re-released like before the game the last guardian was released (Ico and SOTC also have many similaritys and I must say that Ico didnt get the fame it deserved ) so to re-released it on ps3 there must be a reasson (the 3 games must be connected ) I Passed SOTC and the end was a bit off (the girl awakes and Wander is a baby WTF) where is the rest of the story?

  • @ObjectionManiac13 Wander is the guy you play as in this game, Dormin (colossus) takes Wander's body to live in, but one of the warriors throws the magic sword into a pool of water, which purifies Wander of all evil and bad in him, and because a baby is the purest form of human being, he was turned into a baby, his lover/sister is risen as hoped, Aggro is okay, and the bridge is destroyed so no one else can trespass on this land. Did this help?

  • @DarkSouls4Evur yeah and was nothing i didnt knew but here is the thing (one of the persons of team ico i dont remenber who but he said that wander was a far antecester of the main character of ico ) when i discovered this i was like IS THIS FOR REAL but it the truth . and my thing with SOTC ending is that after defeating 16 collosus you get possesed and mono (the girl) is still dead and in the credits you see aggro and a baby (that apperead to have horns small ones but there). and thanks .

  • @theharrysangha ico ends well from my perspective... shadow it did sort of, but in it i didn't get the the attachment feeling with the girl from there cause she slept the whole time

  • i played this along time ago

  • joguinho feio

  • Does this have to do with shadow of collossus?

  • @TheVGGP yep it's kind of a secuel to it, also it shares some things.

  • @TheVGGP Yes, the creators of Shadow Of The Colossus are the same creators of ICO. That's why both games are always compared and have artistic stories and design.

  • i wish i had heard of this when the graphics were still new and impressive. not that it doesnt look great i love these types of game and this one looks like it takes the cake.

  • Ico is a platform that centers around the environment rather than on giant monsters (lol) but theory goes that its the chronological sequel to SoTC where in the end the hero is turned cleansed of his demonic corruption and turned into a child.

  • I haven't played this game since I was a little kid. I can't wait to relive it!

  • just found this for £5 bargain!

  • Best PS2 game ever. Fact.

  • I beat ico and SOTC or 10 times each.theres no better game of this genre out there, not even close

  • @theharrysangha what do you mean?, ico has a happy ending.

  • @panchociarer Some people have hypothesized that either Yorda or both of them die. We all know that these assumptions have the least going for them compared to the prevailing notion of them both surviving.

  • One of the single most moving video games I've ever played. Got it after seeing a review of it on Toonami, and man was I ever thankful for it. Even to this day, it has an emotional impact that I can't adequately put into words. It's just... haunting.

  • bad game

  • @MrSmmsmm then your crazy

  • @MrSmmsmm Bad comment.

  • -Low -resolutions can be a good thing for many games, to greate good atmostphere, and usually it is more flexible experience...

  • i saw this game in my favorite VG shop, but its on japanese, is there a english version of ico?

  • @arsetothem Yes.But it's kind of hard t find.My brother bought it at second hand sports store but it was 30 dollars.

  • @lucariololol yeouch! oh well, i could always go to the illegal route (dont be hatin, its hard to find rare games here, at least the newer games are easy to find)

  • never actually played this game. or owned a ps2. but i remember when it came out i was maybe 8, and it was mystifying :O

  • I have this game and its up for sale reply to this comment with an offer.Highest offer takes it.

  • @CandyMali9 oh i was thinkin of getting if but sence theres no colosi im not ganna get it thanks i wuld of just waisted my money

  • if u compare ps2 games to ps3 games ps2 games would own ps3 games

cuz the people with realy great creativety no longer care about story they just care about the graphyics

  • @huntersxscape so true!

  • I use to have this gamee, but my brother took it with him to virginia. &I can't find another copy, anywhere. Can anyone help me out?

  • @OkaaySoIamInLove Ebay, Amazon.

  • I always have to think of ´´In the Castle´´ by Wolfmother when I think of Ico,they´re only looking for a waaay out ; )

  • are there any colossi in this game

  • @beastlycow3

    no, it's not about colossi

this game is about protecting a girl, solving puzzles and getting out of the castle

  • I love this music !!!!

  • It is good?

  • @theharrysangha I don't really know. It wouldn't fit in with the storyline of colossus, although the characters are pretty similar

  • @DiscrimiClown another thing the world in ICO seems completely intact with all the buildings, which in shadow of the colossus are more like ruins. Since there was no way to get out of the forbidden land I think it's pretty impossible that they have build the whole thing up
