  • This isn't just about concerning diabetes. This is concerning the maintenance of a healthy lifestyle. I tried something like for 10 days just to experiment. It did a great change to my body. I had a lot of energy, not knowing what to do with it lol. It changed the way I were foods. Try this! My only disclaimer other you'll probably get a fever due to the fruits and veggies flushing out the toxins from your body.

  • For most of this video, it seems like they're talking about type 2 diabetics only. But then at 3:56, someone says, "How can you go from insulin-dependent diabetes for 20 years, to no insulin in 2 weeks." So...Is he talking about type 1 diabetics now? Because my impression is that if you're insulin dependent for that long, that means you're type 1. Bottom line: IS THIS FOR TYPE 1 DIABETICS? Or is this just going to lower (and never eliminate) the dosage only?

  • @hsm543 This is for everyone. It is not only for diabetes, but for all types of cancer and evertth else. This is natural RAW food. Everth else is a posion that we put in our mouth. Just do it!

  • I was on a 100% raw foods diet for almost a solid year. It was probably the worst diet I've done. I became seriously underweight, hypothyroid, got chilblains, horrific bloating, constant farting (for the first 6 months, after which much of my intestinal bacteria were probably killed off), and my hands were so cold that after a while volleyball game they would not warm up.

  • @roborrye You aren't taking enough iodine. Take kelp/seaweeds and/or try the iosol formula from iherb. There is also a bunch of other reasons for your condition like not filtering your fluoridated water, having mercury amalgams, eating the "dirty dozen"(top 12 pesticide laden produce) frequently, eating seeds/nuts/grains without soaking them to remove phytic acid which causes digestion problems, not taking enough fats etc...

  • @roborrye You were clearly not eating the right kinds of raw foods for your body type, and possibly not masticating the food sufficiently for it be predigested. Eating raw foods is the healthiest type of food for most people; the exception being people whose body chemistry is so screwed up by modern living and pharmaceuticals that they need to start very slowly. But one overriding factor in assisting the body’s chemistry is to drink sufficient good water daily.

    well, not 100% as I would like but still a very good and healthy diet but I do include fish now and times some rye bread. Haven't had any symptoms of my diabetes at all since embarging on this venture in January execpt for last week when I (in the middle of the pressure from many examns) gave in to a whole bar of dark chocolate - puuuh! felt quite sick afterwards (good - won't be tempted again for a while I think). haven't lost any weight though :(

  • @bergweg I've always wondered the same including beans as well. I guess you're supposed to sprout the rice and beans like beans sprouts and that's the supposed proper way to eat them. You can soak rice and beans forever in water until they get soft with no heat. As for potatoes some people actually like the taste of them raw(yuck) but most people who are strictly raw juice them. oh and a lot of people ferment rice.

  • I went to a registered dietician today. I asked about this. she said...and I quote.."a bunch of quacks". In the next breath, she said, and you might have to go on insulin..or up your medication. I wanted to say up yours, lady. BUT I refrained..parting words from her, were "see you in 3 months"..and I thought. yeah. right. I intend to start quacking immediately. I WILL be off meds, by February. I can hardly wait. where can I find more information about this, do you know?

  • @jacienz I watched it last weekend. One of the guys from it is part of the second DVD they produced he was the one who thought he was type 2 but later found out he was actually type 1 after the event and still got off his meds. It is interesting how their original doctors repeating something enough, like "you will never get off the medication" "you will be on them for life." has programmed their ability to accept it this could work... by day 5 I think they were all reduced or off their meds..

  • There are different ways to cook your vegetables. Some take out more vitamins than others. Just because you cook vitamins out of vegetables doesn't mean that food no longer has value. It still has fiber, and calories needed to power your body.

    If you feel like you are "cooking" most of the vitamins out of your food, I would suggest GNC's Mega Man vitamins.

    I take one in the morning, and on ein the afternoon.

  • The foods with the most vitamins in is meat and vegetables. Kale has folic acid and betacarotene (vitamin Pro-A), C, Vitamin K etc... pork contains what kale doesn't have much off like vitamin B1, B6, B12. Liver is rich in vitamin A.

    A varied diet should be better. I was really hungry on a vegetable diet with nuts/seeds/germinated beans

  • @Catherine8raw B Vitamins are produced by your intestinal flora (friendly bacteria). You were probably hungry on your vegetable/nut/seed/been diet because you forgot about the fruit! WTF!? (Where is the fruit?). One sure way to succeed on a raw vegan diet is to consume enough calories from fruit as they are more calorie dense than veggies. Low fat, low protein, hight fruit carb, all ripe, organic, whole, seasonal and sweet!

    Eat oatmeal, yogurt, cottage cheese, peanuts, almonds, whole wheat cereal, tuna, turkey, nonfat milk. Take a multi-vitamin. Get rid of alcohol, caffeine, cigarettes, and SUGAR. and other good stuff and you'll be fine.

    Maybe you'll even be like me, a ripped up beast ; )

  • @Fyrtenheimer -It's not that eating salad, beans, fruit and nuts is hard, it's that for many of us this is not enough for our bodies & we feel sick on this type of diet, I know I did. And yet, there are raw foodists here who will say "just keep eating raw no matter how miserable you feel, it will get better"..that is a very reckless & dangerous opinion. I know my body & how I feel, they don't. And I'm sorry, life is too short for me not to eat what I enjoy. If you want to do that, ok, but not I!

Mix this with this, grind this, puree that, bake at low temp -I seriously doubt our ancestors you claim only ate raw veggies (scientifically not true) did all these things just to be able to stomach their food.   • @rackelb1 -I understand the raw diet works for some, but don't insult me by saying I don't know my own body just because it didn't work for me. You must listen to your body, and mine felt horrible eating raw, and I was eating raw for more than just a few weeks. Once I added animal protein back, I felt good & strong again. Everyone is different, there is NO "one size fits all" in diet, doctors will tell you that. Raw foodists need to stop insulting us meat eaters with their superiority complex.

  • @ rackelb1 -There is no such thing as "detoxing" dear, any doctor will tell you that. That was a phrase invented by supplement makers and people trying to sell you something. Everything around us is natural, because everything comes from earth. Scientifically, we are Omnivores, and are made to eat many things, and yes, meat played a very important part in our growth, most importantly due to it's fat content. In Nature, animals eat other animals all the time, so why is it wrong if humans do it?

  • It is my understanding that when diabetic and on a raw foods diet that initially you cannot consume high sugar fruits such as bananas and dates, and instead would focus on those lower in sugar such as apples, pears, and berries.

  • Alesha, with type two diabetes your body develops insulin. your body is resistant to the insulin your body makes..So it is completely possible to cure type 2 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is when your body does not create insulin.

  • I'm a vegetarian that flirts with a raw food lifestyle...my lunches are always raw and if I have a side salad at supper it's raw. I notice a huge difference in energy (for the positive) even though I don't live a 100% raw foods lifestyle.

  • raw foodism was the best thing i had ever experienced in my life. there are soooooooo many positive effects - clear, glowing, pimple-free skin, high concentration levels, being able to comprehend/solve issues more efficiently, needing less sleep, waking up easily and happily, breathing clearly, losing weight but toning up at the same time, even feeling more spiritually connected to the earth and each other. i cannot recommend it enough.

  • Interestingly thought, the raw foodists keep of dairy and wheat here on the raw for 30 days. Studies have shown that both dairy and milk cause the body to attack the pancreus in those that are intolerance to either milk/wheat/gluten. So therefore, it may not be the alkalinity (potassium, magnesium) in the vegetables but more getting rid of the allergens causing the diabetes. Some will say it is the saturated fat from meat, but the indians/WE in past did well on fats, carbs/grain maybe bad?

  • I've been a vegetarian for a long time... but even vegetarians can be unhealthy. There is so much processed crap out there. Even places like Whole Foods perpetuate unhealthy eating habits. Now I live in the southeastern US, & telling most people here you don't eat meat will get you a look like you have horns growing outta your head. It's nearly impossible to get a vegetarian meal a lot of times. Forget even mentioning raw, vegan food!!!

  • Unfortunately, you're wrong. Our digestive systems can not cope and can not even come close to removing the assault of toxins that we are now subjected to. Currently we are exposed to 10,000 chemicals that have mostly appeared in the last 100 years. We have evolved for millions of years without them. That is why the chance of cancer is now 1in2. Of course you always take in more toxins via your skin also which is an organ too.

  • I'm all for eating healthy food and taking care of yourself. But an all raw diet is too extreme for most people. Its promoters act like there are only two choices: eat all raw or eat at McDonalds every day. I eat healthy and cook. I eat meat maybe three times a week and the rest of the time eat really tasty cooked vegetarian food.

    You can eat healthy food that still tastes good and is more suitable for most people then raw food, and overcome diabetes.

  • Well if you generally eat healthy to begin with you'll be eating predominantly raw. For instance I'll have a salad and beans.. and later on some fruit and nuts... and then for dinner I'll cook broccoli - So it's not hard.

  • I'm surprised they found that the food "sucked". Of course it did. Their taste buds were outta whack PLUS there is SO MANY THINGS you can do with raw foods and make em taste SO YUMMY.   • I dought there taste buds were out of whack. Man doesn't like to live of greens, unless he gets seriouisly ill and has no choice. I get hungry if I eat 5 iceburg lettuces, 3 packs of radishes, several peppers, carrots, soaked nuts etc... I keep trying it but eventually I get really hungry.   • @Unr3achable1tch The thing I think of is if you found raw food and did a lot on your own you had your own drive to do it (not just to get rid of diabetes or an illness possibly?). You might have been eatting so-so before but not ful-on SAD diet (standard american diet)?? They were picked b/c they were full-on examples of the SAD diet. And their detox was probably dramatic going "cold cucumber" over night.

  • I also wanted to point out that I have cut out all flour products from my daily diet, and that has made a huge impact on wellbeing. I now only eat flour products once a week on my "off" day when I can eat whatever I want, and this works great. The other 6 days of the week I eat lots of veggies, fruits and any meat prepared without heavy sauces or flour coatings. I never knew how badly & sick I could feel without eating meat until I tried going raw, so eat meat if you need to, it's natural too!

  • I tried this diet for more than 30 days, and yes I did lose weight..but I now can no longer tolerate it. I actually started feeling ill and sick without meat products, so this way of eating is not for everyone. I still eat many veggies and fruits a day, but I now have added chicken, eggs, red meat and fish back to my diet..in their purest forms possible without any flour coatings or unhealthy sauces, and I feel back to normal again. Eating only veggies/fruits made me sick, so be careful folks.

  • Did anyone else notice that Kirt's lab values for HgbA1C was 11.8% at 1:25:31 into the documentary? That is a really high average blood glucose greater than 250 mg/dl.

  • Like someone else said on the previous page of comments, no one really believes pills ar better or that unhealthy foods won't have consquences. However, they have made a choice. They would prefer to self gratify themselves, even if that means being fat, lazy, depressed and dead eventually. They care about themselves in that moment and not in the long haul sense.

  • Humankind has been cooking food for millennia—and cooking is not always detrimental to nutritive value of the food. In many cases, as with broccoli, lightly steaming the food releases some of the nutrients.

    As for following a vegan diet, it can be healthful, if supplemented properly. This means a B12 tablet once a week and possibly Vitamin D, if the individual lives in a place with limited sunshine.Humans used to get B12 in abundance from plant sources, due to limited sanitation.

    I think people are missing the point of this movie. It mentions raw food but the real "pill" here is the fruits and vegetables - this is what people need to eat ... not the meat, milk, and processed food. And -that- is what this movie is about; fruits and vegetables curing.

  • Be very careful going raw!!! You should make the transition SLOWLY. The detoxification that will take place if you go 100% (like in this clip) at once will be so strong that you'll probably get ill. Pneumonia is associated with going raw. I almost died!

  • I am refering to the toxins your body stores up in fat-tissue, intestinal muccus and blood-cells. These toxins come from all kinds of food (additives, conservatives, coloring, from cooking, alcohol, etc.) and airpolution, etc. Everybody has those toxins, there is no escaping from it. Mother's milk, besides being possibly the most nutritious food is also the most toxic because of all the toxins we accumulate.

    Eating raw will cause detoxification. I don't know why you state that it doesn't.

  • I saw this movie a few days ago, it's great! I highly recommend buying a copy and sharing it with everyone you care about. I've been on a raw diet and have lost 30 # and feel great. I have a long way to go, but I really feel this is the best way to eat, for life. These people left the center healed from diabetes. I am glad I can avoid it, because I was overweight and inactive.

  • Type 1 diabetes is when the body's immune system attacks and damages the pancreas till it no longer produces insulin. What causes this? Could it be caused by the dozens of vaccinations given to babies/children in their developing years? I know somebody that got a flu shot and nearly died from GBS. She was sick for months and still hasnt made a complete recovery. I would rather risk the flu than let somebody inject me with Thimerasol(Ethyl Mercury), Chicken DNA, and last year's dead flu virus.

  • the solution is not cooking, it is in varying the greens that you eat. Leafy greens have different toxins, (oh, so minute anyhow) so if you eat variety, you won't have a problem.   • just look how they are trying to push a severly unfullfilling diet, a. they constantly say your fermone hormone levels will increase and you'll be more sexual, b. you have the vegan/raw vegan radient "glow" c. veganism is so healthy it's prefered for dogs to be vegan dogs (v-dogs) for more pet health. and a ton of more crap. a balanced diet is once a week meat, once a week fish, and rest veggies. nothing more, nothing less, and of course no junk food and not so many sweets.

  • Raw food diet consists of really 80% raw/live foods. You don't have to go cold turkey or cold cucumber, just have to eat mostly live foods to actually heal & protect your self through foods.

    It amazes me that people think that eating certain foods can't heal you while eating certain pills can.

You need of course veggies and fruit and lots of it, but taking extreme mesures is unatural (case of vegans accidentally killing their 6week old baby due to starvation / case of dude dying from colon cancer due to heavy constipation from malnutrition) a balanced diet is vegeterian 6 days a week, one day meat or fish and that acompanied with veggies
