  • You should add a sub video

  • @jcsv12345 Didn't you see my ship dive? It dove under the water. Doesn't that count? :D Actually, it's very hard to film submarines because they are so rare in the hobby. I film them whenever I get the opportunity, though.

  • thanks. I looked the other day on bowning shipyards website and couldn't find it

  • @tacticalking161 Spahkreuzer is listed as SP-1 on the BSY website. Sorry for the confusion.

  • Kotori,

Where did you find the plans to this this . Ive been looking all over for them . Was this a fiberglass hlll or a Scratch build .

I also noticed that the guns were not armed , any reason why ?

  • @MrPEliason I bought the ship used and refitted it, so I don't know where the plans came from. You can get a fiberglass hull (and plans) from Bowning Shipyards in Australia, though.

I decided not to arm the guns because I didn't have room for CO2 bottle, guns, and torpedoes. I dropped the CO2 bottle and guns in favor of torpedoes, because the torpedoes pack a much more powerful punch against larger opponents.

  • @kotori87 can you get the hull from anywhere else? also, what are you using for torpedoes?

  • @tacticalking161 The Spahkreuzer hull is only available from Bowning Shipyards in Australia, but you can get many other hulls from Battler's Connection and Strike Models, both of which are in the US.

"torpedoes" in model warship combat are 1/4" ball bearings, just like battleship shots. The difference is that torpedoes are fixed off the side, usually with good downward angle for putting holes below the waterline.

  • Somehow, the music from "Robotech" is most appropriate for this hobby. >:-D

  • tht is one brave destroyer skipper

  • i would love to do that but i don't have a ship. are you selling any? or where can i get one

  • @jam9357 Jam, please read a few other comments before posting. I answered your question just one week ago. If you want a ship, check out Strike Models. They sell hulls, cannons, and most of the other stuff you need to build your own combat warship.

  • where can i get one????????? loooks really fun. i seen some but they dont shoot bbs

  • @brian1234567892010 Search the web for Strike Models. They sell hulls, cannons, and most of the other stuff you need to build a combat warship.

  • @kotori87 Can submarines join the battles?

  • @AtLastAtLeast Of course, so long as they are within the correct time period and scale. I have actually seen and fought against several subs, and I'm planning to build my own in a couple years. The big challenge is fitting all the regular submarine running gear, plus weapon systems, plus damage control and other combat- related hardware into a hull the size of a destroyer. It's not easy, even for the best shipbuilders, which is why there are so few subs.

  • @kotori87 are subs allowed to go beneth the surface if so wht armarment do they have

  • @Mrblaze0505 Yes, Subs are allowed to dive, if you can get it working reliably. Armament-wise, they get the same "torpedo" cannons (1/4" ball bearing cannons) that any other torpedo-armed warship would get. This is a very powerful weapon, if you can hit with it. The challenge, of course, is hitting with it.

  • lol, I like this just for the Robotech music

  • hey what is that box thing at 0:17

  • That "box thing" is a shore defense battery. It's a gun in a box that meets the same penetrability and sinkability requirements as regular ships. It is used to protect docks from bombardment and to discourage blockading of ports.

  • how much would i cost to make that box gun thingy

  • Seeing as how a rotating, reloading cannon like that is one of the most expensive single parts of a ship, it's not much more expensive to build a torpedo-armed cruiser. if you bought all the parts (most people fabricate their own) you can expect to spend about $150 on the gun, and about $150 on other parts (co2 bottle, regulator, radio, structure, pump, etc.)

Shore batteries are very rare, because most people prefer mobile gun platforms to stationary ones.

  • Robotech FTW!

  • omg that was the coolest thing ive ever seen!!!!!! i gotta get me 1 of them

  • awsome them ships are so cool

  • what did you use for the guns?

  • Armament consists of custom-machined pneumatic cannons intended for the sport of R/C Naval Combat. If you want further details, please send me a PM.

  • is there submarines too?

  • Yes, there are. They show up in one of my other videos.

  • witch video?

  • I know there's one in "Apocalypse pond", and IIRC a few others as well. I don't remember which, though.

  • i seen that vid but i did not see it at what time was it in the vid?

  • ok=]

  • the picture that u show isnt the same as the video

  • It was taken by a cameraman earlier that day, during a regular team battle.

  • I gotta get me one o' those o_O!

  • has anyone ever lost a ship for good?

  • Only one ship that I know of has ever been lost for good. That was in Florida, in a gator-infested pond, and the only reason it wasn't recovered was because of the gators. In rare instances, though, it may take days to locate and retrieve a ship.

  • Do you have website?

  • Yes. Take a look in the video description for the URL.

  • does the top come of from the pressure or is it a marker to show where the ship went down?

  • That's the emergency float. It's connected to the rest of the ship by a 15-foot-long string, to mark where it sank and aid in recovering it later. It sank in shallow water this time, but other times I haven't been so lucky.

  • i see. i built a cargo ship and made a bouy with a 5 ft piece of string and a piece of styrofoam.

  • Better make sure your buoy's string is longer than your pond is deep!

  • LMAO theyre moving at like 400mph scale speed

  • Actually, they're moving a little over 60% of true scale speed. What you're noticing is the apparent time dilation caused by working with models. While I could calculate that and then compensate for it in the video, I'd get an unacceptably low frame rate and nobody would want to watch it anyway.

  • I see that the mast area float to the top when the ship sinks.

I'm guessing to serve as a marker for recovery and/or to avoid collisions?

I'm really interested in this hobby, so I'm trying to learn as much as I can.

  • Correct. The aft superstructure acts as a marker for recovery, and it is connected to the rest of the ship by a long string. Since it sinks in shallow water, it's not really necessary, but helpful in other areas of the pond. For more information, take a look at rcnavalcombat (dot) com

  • I wish there was a club in this area.

I just learned about this hobby today, when I was browsing wikipedia. I think it might be right up my alley.

  • Spahkreuzer was an oversized Destroyer Class

  • Nice toy!

Where I lives no have toys like yours...lol

    (Brazil boy)

  • There is a club in Argentina. It's a little closer than any of the other clubs, or you can start your own club if you want.

  • Fregin awesome...nice use of the Robotech (Or Macross) theme.

  • Thanks! When I first watched that anime, I told myself I had to get that soundtrack. I'm glad I did.

  • I Still dont understand what makes the bbs shoot off and how to get the cannons them selfs do you make them or what? and cant someone like cheat if your using bbs hide in a tree and shoot at the other teams with a sniper high power... yet thats cheating still would be funny..

  • All of the cannons are custom-made by the shipbuilders. They operate using liquid CO2 pressure, in a similar fashion to paintball markers. Theoretically it's possible for someone to cheat by hiding in a tree with a high-powered bb gun, but then again we would pick up on it pretty quick, and engineers who build RC warships with functioning cannons can be pretty creative when it comes to... punishing... an offender, once caught. And most of it would be perfectly legal, too :)

  • How many cannons is a Unit?

  • "units" are part of a different club, that uses vastly different rules from mine. In that club, one "unit" represents either one cannon, with 50 bbs, or one bilge pump for damage control. My club, on the other hand, allows you to put in as many guns as the historical ship had.

  • what happens when they sink do you buy a new one?

  • You can't "buy a new one". Each ship is custom-made by its owner, and generally takes six to twelve months to build. When a ship sinks, you swim out to recover it, flush out the electronics with rubbing alcohol, and patch up the holes in the hull. Then it's good as new, and you can go back out and fight again. Average "down time" for a ship is about 30-45 minutes, but we have a hour-long break between battles to make sure everyone gets their ships working again.

  • hey, what is the wood float with a cannon?>

  • That's called a "shore battery". It's basically a cannon in a floating box. It is penetrable and sinkable just like all the other vessels on the water.

  • so it basicly neutral. Does someone control it? and can the tiny bb really be able to penatrate and sink it?

  • It's not "neutral". It's assigned to one team or the other. In general, it is loaned out to skippers whose ships aren't working right or potential new members.

Yes, the armor on a shore battery meets the same standards of penetrability that any other ship does, and the shore battery itself is definitely sinkable. I sank that one myself two years ago.

  • Comment removed

  • nice!

  • love the robotech music

  • almost made it to shore lol

  • that looks like great fun

  • TOTTALY NICE!

  • yet the conning tower never sank

  • The conning tower is a recovery float. The New York Class Battleship im building the center turret between the fore and aft tripod mast`s is a float attached to the battleship with nylon cord. Makes it easy to find your sunken ship if theres a cable/rope you could follow down to your craft.

  • nice vid!

    where do ya buy them?

  • There are three ways to get an RC combat warship.

    1) buy one used, and refit it

    2) build one from scratch

    3) buy a fiberglass hull and cannons, and build the rest from scratch

Options 1 and 3 are the quickest methods to get a ship. Do a web search for Battler's Connection, BDE RC, or Bowning Shipyards to get a fiberglass hull.

  • And our flag was still there

after the last baot sinks, the part with the flag is still floating

  • where can i get one of these ships and how much do they cost

  • I'm pretty sure you have to make them, you can by the plans and materials, but you'll have to built it yourself.

  • " SDF-1" and "Roy Fokker´s" themes! great music for a great video!

  • Where do you get the plans to build them?

    Please reply

  • this is pritty cool how much will it coast to get one of theses or how much will a kit coast all together, ya know to make the boat fully functional. radio, turret the works?

  • thats pretty funky, now all you need to do is make them explode when badly hit

  • is that box thing a floating turet

  • Yes, that is a floating turret, also known as a "shore battery". Useful for defending ports, docks, and heavily damaged ships.

  • How much does it cost ot repair it if it sinks

  • Total maintenance costs per year (including multiple sinks) is about $50-$75. Initial construction costs are higher, though.

  • Where do u get those things at

  • You don't "get" them, you build them. Buy some drawings, some wood, and some tools, and start constructing.

  • yayyy robotech theme!

  • nice

  • Veryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy Cooooooooooooooooooooolllllllllllllll

  • Where'd you get the spahkreuzer

  • Why are you playing the robotech theme?

  • that seems so much fun, if sum1 got pissed cuz thr boat sank thr pussys >:O

  • These guys are awesome! The Bitondo Spahkreuzer is a deadly warship. This vid should have been set to Breaking Benjamin's "So Cold" though...

  • tht was rly kl :P gr8 vid

  • that was fucking funny!

  • a.q

  • If you can find a U boat or somthing to launch torpedos with, i'll make ya 150 cherrybomb torps. Easy, and as far as officials know, legal.

  • Can you tag a line along for fishing? Any success with that?

  • Yes. Fishing line with floats is used to simulate mine fields. It gets tangled in the props and slows down the victim. It can be very effective, but can also be a double-edged sword, especially if your allies don't hear you when you warn them where you laid the mines. Also thinking of dragging a fishing hook to catch submarines since we aren't allowed to use pyrotechnics or explosives.

  • hehe, split in 2

  • i wanna do that, only put cherry bombs at the bottom and hopes it hits them :D, lol

  • This battleship is more fun then having a guess on a grid where your enemy ships are!

The last ship must have been like "Ive won, Aaaaah!" *Faints!*

  • thats cool but whatr they shooting

  • looked like gas bb's

  • that looks like tons of fun! what are they shooting at each other, Airsoft?

  • how do the defences work?, do they have small guns on board?

  • The gun platform represents artillery batteries on the shore. I believe that particular one is based on a turret from the battleship Gneisenau that was removed and used as a fixed shore defense battery in Norway. It also happens to be a lot of fun to use.

  • how much do they cost?

  • Not as much as you might expect, but more than a cheap RC toy. Depending on size, complexity, and armament, a combat ship can cost from $200 to $1500, with most battleships weighing in at about $1000. But, as you can see, it's worth every penny.

  • where do you purchase these and how in the world do you repair them?

  • you should put firecrackers underwater! (and YES they do keep burning)

  • the water proof ones do.

  • We have strict rules against using pyrotechnics. It runs the risk of lighting the wooden ships on fire and causing irreparable damage. It would also be a direct violation of our insurance policy and our agreement with the local water district that gave us permission to use their pond.

  • how do you aim?

  • do the ship guns fire bb's?

  • LOL Awesome!

This movie kinda made me think about my putting a BB Gun on my RC Helicopter.

And when u guys are playing like this, I'll plan a Surprise Attack so that all of u will Sink like a Titanic.

    HAHAHA!!!

  • try to put a turpedo too=)

  • Denmark is still a 10 hour drive from here. so that won't be an option.

I have posted some of your videos on a modelling forum, and the responses were great, and even some people who normally don't like boats were quite enthousiastic ( I hope I spelled that right..).

we might start a club someday, but the chance of that isn't big...

  • aw man, i want to do this too, too bad there arent any clubs like this in the netherlands...

  • There is a Danish Model Taskgroup that does model warship combat in Denmark. Thats a bit closer to you than Canada, Australia, or the US. You could also start your own club, if you want.

  • how did you shoot those things? guns on bank? miniture depth charges?guns on boat, or gun on a small turret ? (i saw some movement in 00:35)

  • Each ship has one or more cannons mounted on board. Most can rotate, but the Spahkreuzer is too small to fit a rotating cannon, so it's fixed in place. What you saw at 0:35 is a shore defense battery, and has a single rotating triple-barrel cannon.

  • ....woah.... that was actually cool...

  • Haha that was great. Was talking to a friend about these just today at work.Looks like heaps of fun,but alot of work involved to get them working just right.

  • I've never seen anything like this before, are the guns on the ships themselves or are you just shooting from the shore? it DOES look pretty cool either way...but a little expensive, no?

  • boats and guns are made from scratch. guns can be bought by the people who are in the hobby. ive seen some sell for around 75-150 USD. boat hulls are repaired and ships battle at the next meet. i have some video clips ill upload.

model ship battles are pretty cool

    T2

  • lol

    very cool

  • Riverside? That sounds like either the South Coast Battle Group or the Southern California Rapid Attack Patrol. My videos are from a club further north in San Jose, but our rules are very similar to the SCBG.

  • Awesome, just like in Riverside California

  • Look fun ...

  • robotech music!

  • Most people who dont get this sort of club a) probably have no idea what goes into these machines / thinks theyre store bought, and b) Has never tried it or watched in person :P

  • Most people who dont get this sort of club a) probably have no idea what goes into these machines / thinks theyre store bought, and b) Has never tried it or watched in person :P

  • i like it when they sink...

  • nice vid keep'em comeing
