I have just purchased a brand new Silver 1.4 Polo SEL DSG. I live in the West End of london and wanted a car which is small and easy to get around in. I am having seconds thoughts about the colour silver thoe.
It's my first new car ,but i simply in love with it . 1.2 TSI+DSG have almost no competition on Israeli roads . If i drive calmly ,engine REV never passes 1500 mark ,which makes it very fuel efficient and still able to drive with the traffic. But when i push the engine to 2000 RPM and above, that's where the fun starts .Mazda 2 and 3, Honda Civic, Alfa Mito Renault Clio and others with engines up to 1.8l have no chance.
haha always english car reviewers compare al auto`s with ford... :)) i don`t think fiesta is better, nore the focus compared to a golf a mondeo to a passat... if ford europe based in england or why that`s happening always? i had a ford but german cars are better and french cars are cool. enough said
VW's are great cars, I just wish they had better reliability. About 3 years ago I traveled to the Azores and rented a 2-door yellow Polo lol. It was a great car.
@CobraMarty they are great cars because of their design, and usability. They are charming to look at and fun to drive, therefor making them in MY opinion great cars. Its SAD that the reliability is horrible, because I'd buy one.
@STRUCK37 I live in the States, we have no Polo's here. I drove a Polo in Portugal several years ago and it was really fun. I know a lot of the VW's that we get in America are made in Mexico. And Mexico is noted for building cheap, inexpensive, sketchy things. Many VW's here in the States have problems with leaking, parts failing, and especially Electrical problems! The Golf is rated the most reliable VW in the America. Find out where the Polo is made. Get Diesel if you can. Hope this helps!
@rally240 Thank You !! Stumbled across the right person it seams haha! One more question I was looking at either a New Polo GTI or a 2005 Volkswagen Touareg v6 with low Km I was wandering are these bigger cars very reliable or are they quite problematic and expensive to fix? Thank you again !
@STRUCK37 lol no problem. To be honest the First generation of the Volkswagen Touareg is rated as one of the least reliable cars in the past ten years! I love the design, feel, and look of the Touareg but they have MANY problems. So yes, they are very problematic AND expensive to fix, sadly. I'm assuming you live in the UK? So you would spend alot of money on gas for the Touareg. It seems you really want a VW. If you must go with one I'd choose the Polo. Less problems, cheaper to run, nice size.
@STRUCK37 If you want a car that will be reliable, Honda and Toyota still dominate. Asia right now are making the most reliable cars with the least amount of problems. Hyundai is very good now, Subaru, Acura, and Infiniti. I wish I could take pride in the cars my country builds, but American cars are pretty horrible too, unfortunately. Here is a J.D. Power and Associates review of the 2005 VW Touareg
@STRUCK37 jdpower.com /autos/ Volkswagen/ Touareg/2005 / Sorry had to space it all, youtube wouldn't let me post it. Go with the Polo if it makes you happy, you'll have better luck than the Touareg
@rally240 Toyota had a really reliable image once, but meanwhile they've lost quality get in the headlines due to break failures and al such things and in breakdown statistics they aren't as good as VW/Audi competitors (at least according to the ADAC in Germany)
@STRUCK37 Feel free to ask me more questions! I work for Consumer Reports as an automotive reviewer and researcher. So please, ask away, I don't mind! :-)
@CobraMarty That's a bad thing? I'm picking my new SE Polo next week and I looked at the golfs while I was in the showroom and I think the polo is a much nice looking car. Not bad for my first one :)
@minibus1351 I agree. Looks hot. I like it, more than the golf. Shame its still got that 'girl car' image unless you get a GTI which is banned for drivers under 21 in my country (wtf!?).
@minibus1351 Australia. We have to displayed 'P' plates for 3 years on our cars, travel a maximum of 100km/h and constantly get harassed by police for being 'inexperienced drivers' after we have been on learners for 120hours and 12months.. its bullshit. Can't drive a V8, Turbo/Supercharged or Porsche until you are 21 and have a full licence.. but everywhere else in the world you go from learners to fulls? Go figure lol. we are a backwards society when it comes to driving/licensing..
here 4 stars as well, 4 stars for everything, come on. Golf class leader 4 stars, Polo Car of the World 4 stars, Peugeot 3008 & 5008 4 stars, Hundai Santa Fe 4 stars. You are boring and predictable.
If this car is a supermini what does that make the VW Lupo? an ultrasupermini?
xXGreyWolf 3 days ago
@xXGreyWolf > what does that make the VW Lupo?
Out of production, it's the replacement. the Lupo was a city car as well, that's a size below supermini

The comment about a noisy engine is not strictly fair we own a 1.2 petrol and it is definitely not noisy

@MrGoligher Cars should look different so you can tell them apart... That's the thing with different models.
