  • the nba used to be great without whistles every time a player attacks the basket.

  • Kareem literally toyed with most of the centers he faced during his career.

  • The Mavericks and Lakers the two best teams in the West in 88 but the Mavericks weren't quite ready yet. As you see a 41 year old Kareem dominate.

  • what a team man, the Lakers were so deep it's unbelievable. I don't know how many more teams there are in the league now, and how that spreads out the talent to much, but during their dynasty, they would bring in Cooper, Rambis, Green, and scorers like Dantley and McAdoo and even Michael Thompson,....ridiculous depth with those first three on the list, all tenacious on D.

fully loaded, rotating in with Worthy, Jabbar and Magic, with Byron Scott spotting up and filling the lane.

    wow

  • honestly who would you rather have, James Worthy or Lebron James? or Dr. J? or Malone? or anyone. at the forward position, really, James Worthy might have been the best. Great dunking finisher and a spin move on the baseline with legit intermediate jump shot, the guy ran the floor, and hit jump shots in crunch time,...all the time. Big Game James.

  • Jabbar was outstanding. His early days with the Bucks were just so dominant.

  • Chick is the greatest! Do you realize how competitive this series was? I enjoyed watching this matchup, cause Dallas didn't go away quietly.

  • remember the captain was 40 years old in this clip

  • kareem is the best center ever.

  • all time NBA 2ND TEAM

    POWER FORWARD-BOB McADOO

    SMALL FORWARD-LEBRON JAMES

    CENTER-HAKEEM ULAJUWON

    SHOOTING GUARD-KOBE BRYANT

    POINT GUARD-STEVE NASH

  • @chazeMugz10 if stockton's not on ur first team then magic is. which means stockton's on ur second. nash is on maybe my fourth. no slight to him, because he's probably on his own list's fourth.

  • At 4:10, I think that is the first time I ever saw Kareem make a non-skyhook shot from 20 feet. Unreal.

  • Bynum need to master the sky hook if he do that he can give Howard and Oden fits because he has longer arms than them.

  • and chick hearns. what a treat being able to listen to him again.

"the butters getting hard, folks, this one is over"

  • Kareem.

That hook shot over the double team, reverse dunk, 17 foot jump shot, and his little leftie lay ups.

the man could do it all. best center to ever play basketball. imho.

  • There, there it is. Feel free to argue. Apologies to Baylor, Pippen, Nash (Stockton gets the edge because he was a better consistent Defender), Akeem, Barkley, and Havlicek. C'est le vie.

  • Okay, lots of arguments about who was THE MAN...Guess what, all the names mentioned, they were all THE MAN.

    :-)

But I understand we all love to debate the best ever. So, in my next post, just for the heck of it, I'm going to nominate my idea of the ALL-TIME NBA 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Team rosters. Let the arguments begin...

  • ALL-TIME NBA 1st Team

    Power Forward: Bill Russell*

    Small Forward: Larry Bird

    Center: Wilt Chamberlain

    Shooting Guard: Michael Jordan

    Point Guard: Magic Johnson

*Bill Russell played Center, but his 6-9 frame is best suited for Power Forward. Put him in the PF slot, and even today he would still dominate!

  • ALL-TIME NBA 2nd Team

    Power Forward: Tim Duncan

    Small Forward: Julius Erving

    Center: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

    Shooting Guard: Jerry West*

    Point Guard: Isiah Thomas

*West played both Guard positions at various times in his career.

  • second team:

    Barkley

    Pippen

    abdul jabbar

    erving

    isiah thomas

  • pippen is seriously overrated.

good player forsure, but not 1 of the nba legends.

  • @G0000MBA he is with mj flicking his switch. pippen wasn't a self starter. but without question, his best moments are some of basketball's best moments.

  • ALL-TIME NBA 3rd Team

    Power Forward: Karl Malone

    Small Forward: Rick Barry

    Center: Shaquille O'Neal

    Shooting Guard: Oscar Robertson*

    Point Guard: John Stockton

*Robertson played the Point his career, but Mr. Triple-Double was so versatile and big he could easily do Shooting Guard.

  • dont think barry and stockton belong. what about cheeks and dennis johnson or connie hawkins bernard king pippen over barry any day. Malone no D. Third team I put rodman there. Shaq doesnt get the nod over robinson or patrick ewing. ewing in his days was a beast and faster than any center I saw run the floor other than sampson.

  • Bill Russell played in a 6 team NBA against a bunch of little white centers. Plus the Celtic fans are hypocrites cause they hated Bill Russell, they wouldn't let him buy a house in boston, racists pricks...

  • BTW, A.C. Green is still a virgin.

  • "He looked like a piece of sugar with the ants all over him"

    Brilliant

  • Mark Agguire was more exciting to watch than A.D. and although he didn't fly as high as jordan nor was as complete, but his game was more exciting to watch than jordan,to me!

  • ...oookkkaayyy...He was alright I guess. Not as exciting for me to watch but he was most definitely effective.

  • Mark Aguirre was the most underrated NBA player in history. Great low post scorer, dude couldn't be stopped. He singlehandedly kept the Mavs competitive in these games against the Lakers.

  • And he had NO D whatsoever!! But so goes for alot of the great offensive 3 men back then. He was an extremely difficult cover tho. Maybe not as good as A.D. but right there with him...

  • best of all time was obviously jordan? ahaha jordan lovers... Jordan was a one man show till he got some help. excellent excellent player, but to say jordan was the best ever? pah, i say, pah. Kareem on the other hand, just look at the numbers and watch the tapes. he is the model of consistency and impecable skills for a man of his size. Kareem = best center/player ever.

  • Kareem was the greatest winner of all-time in sports history. And with all his records and longevity and consistency he was probably the GREATEST BASKETBALL PLAYER OF ALL-TIME. They changed the rules for him in college so that you couldn't dunk and he still averaged 26 and 15. In the pros he averaged over 24 and 10 for 20 YEARS!! To me there is no arguement...

  • Ever heard of Bill Russell? He is the greatest winner. Big Lew was a ninny, not even the greatest center to play the game. They may have changed the dunking rule, but countless rules were made to hinder chamberlin.

  • Yeah, now how many teams were there in the league when Russell played?? How many 7 footers were there when Chamberlain was putting up those RIDICULOUS numbers?? Kareem played at the end of their era and into the new and STILL was the man!!

  • Magic couldn't jump at all. If Magic wee 6'2 he would have been a scrub.

  • Magic had handle, court vision and intelligence. He would have probably still been a star. There are a lot of players who can sky but can't play. John Stockton was

6'1" and could'nt jump but was still a great player

  • Lary Bird couldnt jump and got over 29 points per game and over 12 per game. These young kids don`t don`t understand the witts and class of the 80s players!

  • Dummy...That's like sayin if Shaq was 6'8 he woulda been nothing. Or if Jordan was 5'11 he woulda been a bum. MAYBE SO! But the truth is, HE WASN'T!!

  • Tarpley could have been the man. Too much coke killed his career!

  • One of my all-time favorite teams. Thanks for putting it on here. Kareem was one of the all-time greats, and was definitely the greatest college player of all-time. But to say that he was the greatest in NBA history is a little silly. Any rational or sensible human being knows that Michael is the greatest, but, as you are obviously a fellow Lakers fan, we'll let you have the bias towards Kareem. Again, nice video.

  • bynum needs to watch tape on this use the sky hook.

  • Yep that was Detlef - one of the all-time terrible moves by the Mavs was trading Detlef to Indiana two weeks after trading away Aguirre in 89.

  • Cool video. It's weird to see Sam Perkins in a Dallas uniform. I also remember Roy Tarpley... that guy was supposed to have a good career. Also, I'm not sure but was that Detlef?

  • WAS THE LAKER GIRL WEARING A THONG
