I noticed something. on my DVD X3. there are some deleted scenes. One of them shows storm basically tidal waving a whole bunch of the brotherhood mutants asses. Why couldnt she hav prevented the massive water coming towards Jean and saved everyone. anyways Part three rocks, yea it's kinda choppy but its the closest one to the comic book. Those who agree, please say I!!!

My interpretation of why Storm didn't try to save one of her best friends, when she could, was that Jean must've been holding/keeping her from doing anything telepathically or otherwise, like when Nightcrawler says "she's not letting me" (save her). But then the question arises, "Why wouldn't she want to be saved" and i'm guessing it's because she knew what was taking her over, and she didn't want to cause the damage, both physically and emotionally, that she inevitably causes anyway in #3.
