this song has no connection with jesus the story is about about a soldier's wife that thought he was cheating on her and she wouldn't believe him when he said he wasn't until he sacrificed himself in order to save her life.
It is about a general that loved his wife more than anything, but she didn't return his feelings fully. So one day, when he leaves, she follows and believes that his having an affair, she yells to him before stroming off where an enemy soldier captures her. Her lover offers his life from her freedom. He is killed so she goes into a 7 day depression before telling his army what happened. Due to her lover's trust in her, the army made her their new general.

This song can has multiple meanings. Yeah, sure it can be taken as if she's singing about Jesus Christ, and they honestly meant for one of the meanings to actually be that. But the main story here is about how this girl was dating a guy. He signed up for the military, she got mad at him for it, and she started being a jerk to him. He would tell her that he loved her, but she didn't believe him because he signed up behind her back. He goes oversees, he gets killed, and the girl tells this story.

I was born into Religion, I actually SAW angels and then I wet to a religious school too. But after I was bullied from 5-10 then went to a regular school, made friends and dropped religion because I honestly had something against it but when I moved up to secondary school, my life went upside down. I believe now, I feel as if it' the only thing keeping me here.

@FuryTigresse A reason to exist is better then to not have one. My reason to exist is I want to know the truth and history of the world. And Jesus seems to be everywhere I turn. I tried to not believe for the longest time. I even taught some of my friends about how evolution could of been real. Then reality hit, and I started to see things differently. I went to church, and they preached directly to me. Maybe it was just what preaching does, but it got me and I am now struggling with my belief.
@XxTheStigmaxX Never said having no reason to live is better, but I'm in the world because natural selection chose me instead of another, I was meant to die the very day I was born (and even before). If you found a reason to believe it's good for you but I can't seem to find any reason for myself. It is about a general that loved his wife more than anything, but she didn't return his feelings fully. So one day, when he leaves, she follows and believes that his having an affair, she yells to him before stroming off where an enemy soldier captures her. Her lover offers his life from her freedom. He is killed so she goes into a 7 day depression before telling his army what happened. Due to her lover's trust in her, the army made her their new general.

This song can has multiple meanings. Yeah, sure it can be taken as if she's singing about Jesus Christ, and they honestly meant for one of the meanings to actually be that. But the main story here is about how this girl was dating a guy. He signed up for the military, she got mad at him for it, and she started being a jerk to him. He would tell her that he loved her, but she didn't believe him because he signed up behind her back. He goes oversees, he gets killed, and the girl tells this story.

I'm a christian myself, and this is one of the most powerful songs I've ever applied to my relationship with God. I was just trying to reason with both sides, and that has always been the story that I've heard about the song. @mason3750 Actually in the CD liner notes this song represented by a journal entry (the liner notes are set up like a war diary) that tells the story of a soldier's wife being captured by the enemy and he gives his life to save her even though she was unfaithful to him...Sounds a little familiar if you know the story of Jesus doesn't it??? Just thought I'd add that for the record. ^^

But after I was bullied from 5-10 then went to a regular school, made friends and dropped religion because I honestly had something against it but when I moved up to secondary school, my life went upside down. For those of you who have not purchased the album and read the booklet you will not understand the story completely. There is more to this song then being about Jesus Christ. @FuryTigresse A reason to exist is better then to not have one. My reason to exist is I want to know the truth and history of the world. And Jesus seems to be everywhere I turn. I tried to not believe for the longest time. I even taught some of my friends about how evolution could of been real. Then reality hit, and I started to see things differently. I went to church, and they preached directly to me. Maybe it was just what preaching does, but it got me and I am now struggling with my belief.

If you found a reason to believe it's good for you but I can't seem to find any reason for myself.
