Hey there.. been watchin your videos for close to a year now.. you do an amazing job!! The rain is pouring outside right now and this song is playing... very relaxing.. you should know that you make people happy and relaxed when you sing.... a valuable thing in life these days....
I did some research. This song has a 400-year-old-plus history, the earliest version called "The Bonnie Lass o' Fyvie", a Scottish folk song about a thwarted romance between a soldier & a girl. Over time, the name of Fyvie got corrupted to "Fennario", "Fernario", "Finario", "Fidio".
The song probably traveled with Scottish immigrants to America a couple hundred years ago and became a staple in the 60s folk music revival movement (Dylan, Joan Baez, Simon & Garfunkel, & later the Grateful Dead).
Love listening to your music, David. Never any gimmicks, just great voice, guitar, harmonica & lyrics. Feels real & authentic.
(but something has to be done about that gloomy, dull background. Let in some freaking light man. I kept focusing on the closed levelor blinds & wishing you'd open them up. Shot makes me feel TRAPPED. It's oppressive. Imagine young Bob Dylan singing "Blowing in the Wind" in that stifling shot. Wouldn't work. You both need the outdoors. You both need open spaces)
