hello, first off, i would just like to say, I know NOTHING about boats, I"ve never owned one, (although i'm looking for one at this time, your misfortune scares me into NOT buying one) because you seem to know what your doing and if you missed something like this, i wonder what mistakes i'd be making ) but my question is, do you think your SeaRay might have sank?? to have that much water damage?? and the previous owner just spiffed it up to sell it?
Hey up here in NJ I was reading The Fisherman magazine and they are doing a project like yours. They are using something called Seacast for the repairs. It looks like they dig out the old wood and leave the glass on each side. They fill the void with this stuff and it sets in place. I looked online and there are a lot of videos on it. I am about to start repairs on my 18 bowrider and was looking for ideas. Ever look into Seacast? Good Luck by the way.
There's a gasket between the outdrive and the mounting flange, right? With that little amount of water, I'd guess either condensation or a slow seep through the gasket.
Nice progress, did you ever talked with the previous owner? But anyways you're like half way there and there's plenty of time before the season. I'm working right now in a Ski I bought and it is a mess. Here the temp it's usually around the high 80's so I'm desperate to finish it, so we can all hit the water in a more fun and economic way. You know how the boats drink that fuel...
