I prefer the M1 , they work each time, and the bullet is 2 times heavier than the 5.56 which means it has better energy retention, more penetration, better chance to punch through and cause more damage. Also in my opinion the M1 looks and feels better, and it's not covered in plastic.
@trippberry i dont think it penetrates better, in the korean war the.30 short had dificulties to penetrate the heavy coats of the korean soliders at mid range
@curseofa5r5a No it didn't. That's a myth. The .30 carbine is roughly on par with a .44magnum as far as power goes. It has no problems punching through jackets. The reason why Chinese didn't drop is because the solider MISSED. That is not unheard of in combat, even when you are aiming. Testing by boxoftruth has refuted this idea.
How can you use the scope with that big ol front sight in the way? Personally, I'd rather the M1 Carbine over the AR 15. Probably because I own the M1 Carbine, and not the AR15 lol I also prefer firearms with history to them.
...you guys are idiots...comparing carbines to assault rifles....m1s are really expensive to actively shoot so....giving it to the ar-15 with the bigger kill factor and better velocity
@AGeekWithAShotgun M1s are about 400 dallors less than ARs like that one, maybe even 600 dollars.and wtf are you talking about velocity, price has nothing to do with that.Of course an AR has more kills, its been around for military uses alot longer. Its not about compitition, its about fun,Of course th ARs going to win.Dont let the title confuse you. Some people like different firearms that others.Persinally I would much rather have the M1.

Anyway, it wont let me post my second part of my response. But basically, the projectile exits the gun so fast, that you dont fight the recoil, but basically let the gun smack you in the face. You dont force an aim at the bullseye, but wait for the natural shaking of your hand to align with it. And match that with a calm trigger pull. Then you will always hit wherever you pulled the trigger without any violence in the hand no matter what.
*So if your holding pistol, instead of trying to hit the bullseye everytime; aim at the general area of the bullseye and wait for your natural hand shaking to cross over the bullseye, and then dont fight the recoil and pull the trigger slowly matching the right coinciding of the natural movement of your hand, and the bullet will exit before the gun pushes backwards. So wherever you shoot, you will hit.****

Well my dad always taught me to shoot pistols in horse stance, and I dont find that (/Italics) necessary. A bad trainer would be one that is a bad trainer elseware, like in school. That does not teach you everything right away. I have always shot bad at ranges. However, I have not gone to a range with my new theory; Which is that a projectile exits the barrel so fast, you do not fight the recoil; but learn it. And if you keep you arms relaxed, wherever you pull the triger at, it will hit.
The 30 M-1 carbine round is about equal to the .357 magnum. No big nuts as far as rifles go. The AR-15 blows it away but it is an old time relic of a time gone past. Fun to shoot if nothing else.
I own both the M1 Carbine and the 5.56 Carbine and I love them both. The down side to the M1 Carbine is the EXTREMELY expensive cost of the rounds it shoots! For a bullet no bigger than say a .38, it's really expensive! My g/f likes the M1 Carbine though. It's a great little shooter for women and children.
@MedicPatriot im not a gun expert but what I found in golf, is that a lot of what trainers say is kinda BS. A lot of it his helpful. But it is kinda like being taught how too.... i dont know. The basics are important, after that, let your instrinct make the right judgements. Or at least that is what I would do.
It depends. If you look at anything from a tactical standpoint like I do, the stance is very important (try walking around clearing your house using a stance like they did. The M1 carbine is definitely not more accurate than the AR-15. The physics of the .223 vs the .30 alone make the AR-15 a much more accurate rifle at any range. It's literally the difference between a pistol cartridge and a rifle cartridge.
Aside from that, the .223 is a much more powerful round, especially at any amount of range. Any rifle with a velocity of around 2000+ (.223, not .30 carbine) can cause hydrostatic shock on a target, AKA, far more lethal.

oh yeah I may be getting mre's in soon for about $40 a case if you want some let me know
I wouldn't. I Have ALOT of fun with my M-4. I much prefer the M4 over an M1 Carbine. Now the Garand is another story. I just don't like shooting the .30 carbine.
well, I don't like black guns much. I like those sweet old war rifles. But, to each their own I guess. And, I totally agree with you. The Garand, is the most fun with a gun someone can have.
I Love the black coat. But you're right, To each his own. And as for the Garand. I may Love modern rifles. But from the moment I first shot a Garand, I knew it was my favorite. It's a dream weapon.
No the ammo is awfully expensive. You're better off with an SKS. Don't get me wrong I like the carbine, I happen to own one and if I could do it over again I would go with the SKS (specially in Cali.)
If they cost about a third of what they go for I'd buy an M1 Carbine just for the lulz, but at $700? Forget it. Used to be you could pick them up used for $50, but their price is just ridiculous today. If you have an AR, you'll be less than impressed with the "chintzy" feel of the M1 carbine, and the cartridge is sort of teh suck ballistically.
You are putting most of the recoil in that one corner spot of the stock but. I could see just shooting .223 like that, but if you moved on to 30-06 or 54r, you would have to shape up, or be in pain. Also, I would see a problem with using the sight then, unless it is a scope. If you moved that gun down lower into your shoulder, and not on your arm, you would shoot more accurately too.
This is just my two cents worth. The 5.56 is a killer: I think that we all can agree on that. The problem is, it kills more slowly. Yes is causes massive damge, and it will cause someone to bleed out, but while thats happening, there still in the fight, and are able to shoot back. Now the whole debate between .30 carbine and 5.56 Nato is pointless in my opinion. They are both rounds that are notorious for there lack of fight stopping abilities. If we must argue though, I like the feel of the M1.
dude most 5.56 nato rounds the us military uses are plastic tipped wich makes them "armor peircing" so when the soldiers shoot at targets 95% of the time the bullet zippes right through hardly causing damage. if you read black hawk down they have interveiws with delta soldiers who actually paid with their own money to get the 1960-70s version of the m16 because that version fired a 7.62 round instead of the nato 5.56
So what was the point of that argument? We arn't even disagreeing with each other. Btw, I have read BHD, and the weapon your thinking of is the AR10, the
M16's grandfather. And the green tips are the "armor peircing" rounds that your thinking of. The plastic tipped rounds actually expand quite nicely.
Used to be you could buy M1 Carbines for $50, even new they were pretty cheap. They made sense then for someone on a budget that wanted a plinker. Now the damn things are $600+ and there's no reason to even look at them.
The .30 M1 Carbine was originally designed to replace the .45 Colt 1911 pistol and for rear support troops, such as cooks, truck drivers etc. who would not be able to use the full power M1 Garand. It actually did neither, the 1911 remained the side arm and the Carbine found it's way to the front line troops in WW II, Korea and even Vietnam. The AR-15 / M- 16 was to replace the full auto M -14 assault rifle that came out of WW II and was used in Vietnam. Different rifles and times.
I like the carbine but i love my garand even more. I dunno if i enjoy it or my bushmaster more, but the bushy is a lot better to carry through the brush.
You're going to regret not useing hearing protection. M1 guy's ears are probably still ringing standing right next to that flash hider like that. Ouch.
He's standing right next to/ahead of the muzzle on the AR. Yeah, it's loud and especially loud with the flash hider. The M1 is plenty loud too, loud enough to cause permanent hearing damage if you shoot it without hearing protection.
well then its a saiga for you great for hunting big game and practical shooting but also a very effective weapon for home defence if you were just looking for a nice little rifle to go to the range every once in a while then its an M1 hope this helps and let me know ur disecion
I agree with the saiga. They come in many different calibers, are cheap, and very reliable. (based on the AK platform) Check one out in 7.62x39. Powerful enough for deer and relatively cheap to shoot too.
everything about this is dangerous. first of all you all need to be right next to eachother, not two feet in front of the other. and second you dont have any protective gear, and your standing too close to trees
Soldiers generally don't have protective gear, and they often have to fire over each other's shoulders, and trees? Seriously, come up with something better than that. Nice rifles, guys.
well do they look like they are in the middle east????!!!!! are they soldiers?!?! im not trying to be mean, but that is exactlty how accidents happen. its necessary to take safety precautions when you have a powerful gun with recoil.
Actually, it looks like they're in the mid-west...so what's your point? And they could have military training (though they're probably too young for that); you don't have to be in the Middle East to be a soldier...
Well, your choice is good, and it's a tough one for me...but I'd choose the AR-15 because it's a necked cartridge. The M1 Carbine is great, but I'd like something with a little more stopping power. Which is why I own a WWII M1 Garand XD!!!
syst3m, It would depend on how much you have shot and your level of skill. A good bolt action .22 lr would be the best to learn on. accurate, dirt cheap to shoot, good for small game, extremely accurate, and in california, legal. Go to the odcmp web site for the Civilian Marksmanship program and locate an affiliated club nearest you. They will help get you started. The CMP also offers opportunities to
purchase rifles and ammunition at cut rate prices for members. good shooting.
well i meant range, and i have no military background but i have shot alot of rounds in one sitting with no problem like 600. so even if they did get back up hit em again or conserve ammo and go for the head:)
M16/M-4's are great rifles if properly taken care of. They will carbon up quicker if the coat on top of the paint is destroyed. Alot of cleaners will remove that and if you've been in the service you know of the shaving cream trick...same deal. I am still a huge fan of M1's tho.
m1 carbine, worst case senario jam is a failure to feed and can be cleared and back in action in 4 seconds.
m16, 3 types of worst case senario jams and all of them require that the weapon be disassembled. I know because i have had to deal with jams in both weapons during some rather difficult situations. i chose the m1 carbine and never regretted it. in vietnam at the battle of I Drang,
Lt.col. Moore estimated that at any one time
1/3 of his men were dealing w/ a jammed weapon(m16)
to tonylee, both have their strong points.the m16 has an advantage in a flatter trajectory over 300 yards. the m1 carb has an advantage in adequate combat accuracy to 300 yards and superior reliability. it blows a bigger hole in the bad guys. the m16 action dumps the carbon fouling from the gas system INTO the action the m1 carb kicks the fouling OUT of the action where it can't interfere with the functioning of the weapon. i've been around the block a few times,
umm how is the carbine related to the garand they were made by two different people and use 2 different systems and use different bullets what are you talking about
ar-15's are fucking awesome i dont care who says otherwise, because someone always has to run there mouth about this is better than that even when they do not own neither of them and are just pissed cause they can only afford .22's. ak's are nice but i will never own one, iv'e shot one and wasn't impressed, and who can afford to feed a 308 for plinking not me. i hate when people dog on ar's, if there so weak and everything else is better than come stand in front of me when im at the rang:)
i would if you could spell range right? and really if the ar15 / m16 is so good then why is it when we shoot a towel head they get up and run hmmm maybe a bigger call right?
the problem is with the ammunition. the geneva convention restricts civilized nations to using full metal jacket ammo that just pokes a bullet diameter hole thru whoever you are shooting. the smaller the cartridge, the smaller the hole. the .30 m1 carb. is the same diameter as the ctgs. used in the m1 garand(30-06) as well as the m14(7.62).that is why it works so well. the m16 uses a .224 caliber bullet. small bullet=small hole. in the words of my wife; (giggling) BIGGER is BETTER.
If you "mike" the bore you will find it to be a .224 dia. You can verify this by consulting
any of the reloading manuals. Why they named it the .223 is beyond me. A lot of cartridges are named like that. The .38-40 is actually a .40 caliber.
The .44mag/spec is actually a .430 dia. The .38 spec is actually a .357 dia. As I said, this can be verified by consulting any of the available reloading manuals available in most gun stores. good shooting.
Have you been in the sandbox? If so, you're the first ACTUAL SOLDIER that I've ever heard say that they've shot and insurgent with an M4/AR (center of mass), or seen one shot, who just got up and ran.
yeah, those "solid steel and hardwood" guns are almost always built more solidly than a plastic and aluminum gun, and guns like the SKS and AK are actually (this is from real life experience of the 2) lighter and I find the SKS to be much more user friendly, even though the ar is nice, I"d stick with a SKS/AK, as for the m1, that m1 carbine is 2-3lbs lighter than the AR
m1 carine- 6 1/2-7lbs
AR/M16/M4- 9-10lbs
SMLE/no.4 Enfield/M1 garand/mauser/mosin- 8.5-9/bs and those pack more of a hit
To the guy shooting the ar15, you dont even know what the hell youre doing. make the butt stock lean back against the lower front end of your shoulder.
Both will kill you. a 45-60 grain piece of lead going at 2700 feet per second(5.56 or .223) or 110 grain piece of lead going at 1300 feet per second (.30 Carbine) aimed at the center mass will kill just as dead. A .30 carbine round isn't much in full metal jacket form, a soft or hollow point round, very lethal. same for a 5.56, proper ammo, two very effective weapons.
I would rather have the M1...

Your not even close check ballistic tables, the .30 carbine is less powerful than even the .357 magnum.
The .30 Carbine fires a 110gr RN FMJ to about 1,900fps
The .357mag Carbine fires a 158gr JHP of JSP to about 1,900fps.
I get 2,050fps with a 158gr Rem JHP over 18.0gr of Hod LilGun and CCI mag SP primer.

it will also help with fron sight ghosting.

higgininja 2 years ago
Like how much more fun? i have an AR15, but im looking to buy a M1 Carbine, is it worth it?
SuperLuigi707 2 years ago 4
I've have an M1 carbine, and have shot an AR, by far, the M1 is much more fun to shoot. Considering the price, I would buy 2 M1's over an AR any day.
higgininja 2 years ago
Good to know, looks like my next gun is an m1 carbine!!!
SuperLuigi707 2 years ago 3
Nice choice man, you wont be disappointed!
higgininja 2 years ago
I wouldn't. I Have ALOT of fun with my M-4. I much prefer the M4 over an M1 Carbine. Now the Garand is another story. I just don't like shooting the .30 carbine.
aphsknight74 2 years ago
well, I don't like black guns much. I like those sweet old war rifles. But, to each their own I guess. And, I totally agree with you. The Garand, is the most fun with a gun someone can have.
higgininja 2 years ago 3
I Love the black coat. But you're right, To each his own. And as for the Garand. I may Love modern rifles. But from the moment I first shot a Garand, I knew it was my favorite. It's a dream weapon.
aphsknight74 2 years ago
No the ammo is awfully expensive. You're better off with an SKS. Don't get me wrong I like the carbine, I happen to own one and if I could do it over again I would go with the SKS (specially in Cali.)
nandoGdog 2 years ago
If they cost about a third of what they go for I'd buy an M1 Carbine just for the lulz, but at $700? Forget it. Used to be you could pick them up used for $50, but their price is just ridiculous today. If you have an AR, you'll be less than impressed with the "chintzy" feel of the M1 carbine, and the cartridge is sort of teh suck ballistically.

00:02 Look how the kid on the right has the gun shouldered! tsk, tsk
higgininja 2 years ago
I was gonna say that, I agree with you. My friend shot a 20 gauge like that, and he won't shoot most guns now.
SmokeXB360 2 years ago
You are putting most of the recoil in that one corner spot of the stock but. I could see just shooting .223 like that, but if you moved on to 30-06 or 54r, you would have to shape up, or be in pain. Also, I would see a problem with using the sight then, unless it is a scope. If you moved that gun down lower into your shoulder, and not on your arm, you would shoot more accurately too.
higgininja 2 years ago
This is just my two cents worth. The 5.56 is a killer: I think that we all can agree on that. The problem is, it kills more slowly. Yes is causes massive damge, and it will cause someone to bleed out, but while thats happening, there still in the fight, and are able to shoot back. Now the whole debate between .30 carbine and 5.56 Nato is pointless in my opinion. They are both rounds that are notorious for there lack of fight stopping abilities. If we must argue though, I like the feel of the M1.
krazykelley092 2 years ago
dude most 5.56 nato rounds the us military uses are plastic tipped wich makes them "armor peircing" so when the soldiers shoot at targets 95% of the time the bullet zippes right through hardly causing damage. if you read black hawk down they have interveiws with delta soldiers who actually paid with their own money to get the 1960-70s version of the m16 because that version fired a 7.62 round instead of the nato 5.56
soundhitman 2 years ago
So what was the point of that argument? We arn't even disagreeing with each other. Btw, I have read BHD, and the weapon your thinking of is the AR10, the
M16's grandfather. And the green tips are the "armor peircing" rounds that your thinking of. The plastic tipped rounds actually expand quite nicely.
krazykelley092 2 years ago
Just tell me someone who has been hit in the torso by a 5.56mm and is still breathing!
that little bullet comands respect, ask the taliban how it feels to get shot at 350 mts by a .223 they cant they are having fun with their virgins!!

Used to be you could buy M1 Carbines for $50, even new they were pretty cheap. They made sense then for someone on a budget that wanted a plinker. Now the damn things are $600+ and there's no reason to even look at them.

garand and carbine > an AR15
offroadinfun10 3 years ago
well put
tondach757 2 years ago
The .30 M1 Carbine was originally designed to replace the .45 Colt 1911 pistol and for rear support troops, such as cooks, truck drivers etc. who would not be able to use the full power M1 Garand. It actually did neither, the 1911 remained the side arm and the Carbine found it's way to the front line troops in WW II, Korea and even Vietnam. The AR-15 / M- 16 was to replace the full auto M -14 assault rifle that came out of WW II and was used in Vietnam. Different rifles and times.
5StarJones 3 years ago 3
i agree with that one, quit leaning back so so far, lean in with the rifle
89bushmaster223 3 years ago
I want to say that the guy shooting the Carbine owns both of those rifles just because of the technique the shooter of the AR 15 displays.

You're going to regret not useing hearing protection. M1 guy's ears are probably still ringing standing right next to that flash hider like that. Ouch.
ElConquistador45 3 years ago
This comment has received too many negative votes show
It's just a carbine. It's not that big/loud of a round.
inplabth 3 years ago
He's standing right next to/ahead of the muzzle on the AR. Yeah, it's loud and especially loud with the flash hider. The M1 is plenty loud too, loud enough to cause permanent hearing damage if you shoot it without hearing protection.
ElConquistador45 3 years ago 2
Actually the M1 carbine is a rather loud rifle... not just a carbine

what's better, a stock .30 M1 or a stock 12ve gauge Saiga?
dagoninfinite 3 years ago
well personaly I'd rather have a M1 but it really depends on what ur looking for
ZzThrog3zZ 3 years ago
I need a reliable gun for recreational shooting, casual hunting and self-defence.
dagoninfinite 3 years ago
well then its a saiga for you great for hunting big game and practical shooting but also a very effective weapon for home defence if you were just looking for a nice little rifle to go to the range every once in a while then its an M1 hope this helps and let me know ur disecion
ZzThrog3zZ 3 years ago
I agree with the saiga. They come in many different calibers, are cheap, and very reliable. (based on the AK platform) Check one out in 7.62x39. Powerful enough for deer and relatively cheap to shoot too.

everything about this is dangerous. first of all you all need to be right next to eachother, not two feet in front of the other. and second you dont have any protective gear, and your standing too close to trees
livehappy4ever 3 years ago
Soldiers generally don't have protective gear, and they often have to fire over each other's shoulders, and trees? Seriously, come up with something better than that. Nice rifles, guys.
warestari2000 3 years ago 2
well do they look like they are in the middle east????!!!!! are they soldiers?!?! im not trying to be mean, but that is exactlty how accidents happen. its necessary to take safety precautions when you have a powerful gun with recoil.
livehappy4ever 3 years ago
Actually, it looks like they're in the mid-west...so what's your point? And they could have military training (though they're probably too young for that); you don't have to be in the Middle East to be a soldier...
warestari2000 3 years ago
Idk, I like teh m1 cause it 7.62 in teh small package, very nice rifle, but the ar looks better XD
arapistonhalo 3 years ago
Nice video, but I would pick the M1 over the AR any and every day! Sell the AR and buy mor .30 ammo!
StantheGunman 3 years ago 2
Well, your choice is good, and it's a tough one for me...but I'd choose the AR-15 because it's a necked cartridge. The M1 Carbine is great, but I'd like something with a little more stopping power. Which is why I own a WWII M1 Garand XD!!!
warestari2000 3 years ago
I beilve a .30 with a mordern HP bullet would do the job. Love Garands! :D Have one too!
StantheGunman 3 years ago
When I hit 18 next May I plan on buying a gun. IN California I can only buy a rifle or shotgun. What do you recommend?
SySt3m 3 years ago
syst3m, It would depend on how much you have shot and your level of skill. A good bolt action .22 lr would be the best to learn on. accurate, dirt cheap to shoot, good for small game, extremely accurate, and in california, legal. Go to the odcmp web site for the Civilian Marksmanship program and locate an affiliated club nearest you. They will help get you started. The CMP also offers opportunities to
purchase rifles and ammunition at cut rate prices for members. good shooting.

tedfernyhough 3 years ago
well i meant range, and i have no military background but i have shot alot of rounds in one sitting with no problem like 600. so even if they did get back up hit em again or conserve ammo and go for the head:)
omegaproducts 3 years ago
M16/M-4's are great rifles if properly taken care of. They will carbon up quicker if the coat on top of the paint is destroyed. Alot of cleaners will remove that and if you've been in the service you know of the shaving cream trick...same deal. I am still a huge fan of M1's tho.
BlueDiablo701 3 years ago
m1 carbine, worst case senario jam is a failure to feed and can be cleared and back in action in 4 seconds.
m16, 3 types of worst case senario jams and all of them require that the weapon be disassembled. I know because i have had to deal with jams in both weapons during some rather difficult situations. i chose the m1 carbine and never regretted it. in vietnam at the battle of I Drang,
Lt.col. Moore estimated that at any one time
1/3 of his men were dealing w/ a jammed weapon(m16)
rjrunnerk 3 years ago
which is better?
tonylee1973 3 years ago
to tonylee, both have their strong points.the m16 has an advantage in a flatter trajectory over 300 yards. the m1 carb has an advantage in adequate combat accuracy to 300 yards and superior reliability. it blows a bigger hole in the bad guys. the m16 action dumps the carbon fouling from the gas system INTO the action the m1 carb kicks the fouling OUT of the action where it can't interfere with the functioning of the weapon. i've been around the block a few times,
I use the m1 carbine.
rjrunnerk 3 years ago
thanks rjunnerk much appreciate
tonylee1973 3 years ago
plus because the m1 carbine is related to the garand you can point it at people and yell bang and they will die.

ar-15's are fucking awesome i dont care who says otherwise, because someone always has to run there mouth about this is better than that even when they do not own neither of them and are just pissed cause they can only afford .22's. ak's are nice but i will never own one, iv'e shot one and wasn't impressed, and who can afford to feed a 308 for plinking not me. i hate when people dog on ar's, if there so weak and everything else is better than come stand in front of me when im at the rang:)
omegaproducts 3 years ago
i would if you could spell range right? and really if the ar15 / m16 is so good then why is it when we shoot a towel head they get up and run hmmm maybe a bigger call right?
95000026 3 years ago
to 95000026
the problem is with the ammunition. the geneva convention restricts civilized nations to using full metal jacket ammo that just pokes a bullet diameter hole thru whoever you are shooting. the smaller the cartridge, the smaller the hole. the .30 m1 carb. is the same diameter as the ctgs. used in the m1 garand(30-06) as well as the m14(7.62).that is why it works so well. the m16 uses a .224 caliber bullet. small bullet=small hole. in the words of my wife; (giggling) BIGGER is BETTER.
rjrunnerk 3 years ago
dont you mean .223
jack190190 3 years ago
jack190190,
If you "mike" the bore you will find it to be a .224 dia.
As I said, this can be verified by consulting any of the available reloading manuals available in most gun stores. good shooting.
rjrunnerk 3 years ago
Have you been in the sandbox? If so, you're the first ACTUAL SOLDIER that I've ever heard say that they've shot and insurgent with an M4/AR (center of mass), or seen one shot, who just got up and ran.

wut? you'd rather have a solid steel and hardwood gun than a plastic and aluminium gun?
yur crazy man, crazy!!!
gusplaer 3 years ago
yeah, those "solid steel and hardwood" guns are almost always built more solidly than a plastic and aluminum gun, and guns like the SKS and AK are actually (this is from real life experience of the 2) lighter and I find the SKS to be much more user friendly, even though the ar is nice, I"d stick with a SKS/AK, as for the m1, that m1 carbine is 2-3lbs lighter than the AR
m1 carine- 6 1/2-7lbs
AR/M16/M4- 9-10lbs
SMLE/no.4 Enfield/M1 garand/mauser/mosin- 8.5-9/bs and those pack more of a hit

Anything can kill you even a .170 caliber pellet can kill you you're shot through the eye at point blank range...
flemw1234 4 years ago
Both will kill you. a 45-60 grain piece of lead going at 2700 feet per second(5.56 or .223) or 110 grain piece of lead going at 1300 feet per second (.30 Carbine) aimed at the center mass will kill just as dead. A .30 carbine round isn't much in full metal jacket form, a soft or hollow point round, very lethal. same for a 5.56, proper ammo, two very effective weapons.
chrismc410 4 years ago
I've never seen .30 carbine hollow points. And it fires closer to 2000 fps. But your point still stands.
