....actually, quite informative and entertaining video. Just in case you play trumpet or another brass instrument, I think you might find some trumpet and brass tutorials quite intriguing over at YOURBRASSINSTRUCTOR's Channel.
Im on a Walter Blanding( Tenor Soloist) Kick . I had the pleasure of sitting and having a meal with him in 2004 or 2003. He didnt have much to say, seemed sort of removed from this world. It could have been that I was 15 or 16 as well. I love his playing though
am i the only one who loves that low clarinet bit towards the end? I think it's soooo damn great, but so is everything else about the tune...whether it's ellington playin or the lincoln jaazzz orchestra.
Super, lese grade ein buch dazu kiana davenport gesang der verlorenen frauen... Da gehts um einen jazzmusiker der genau diese musik spielt ... Tolles buch tolle musik!
wow, they really got a good ellington feel behind this song. props for all the soloists. walter did a good job of trying to have the same idea as paul gonsalves, what paul did was he would start off playing within the chords and as he soloed more and more, he would move further away from the chord changes.
great job jlco! another reason why there's no big band better today!
Magnificent performance of one of the Duke's greatest works! And what a strange and wonderful work it is--like nothing else. Some dis Wynton's making jazz a "repertory" thing, but not me--how lucky we are to hear works like this now. Thanks to Wynton and the band! Kurt.
Cat Anderson was the original soloist for this song they transcribe, that guy playing here at the end is Seneca Black, Cat's is way beyond his league, but he's still a fine soloist to do the job

It is a recreation, but a pretty good and enjoyable one too. And since it keeps me swinging it has its purpose,

So what moron didn't like this? A valiant attempt to re-create a *terrific* moment in the jazz canon.
(. . . and Cat played the same solo *every* night they played it)
