"Sometimes when you lose you actually win!" (Umm...White Men Can't Jump... Anyone? Anyone?) ahaha
Anyways, I think that if these women took home the Gold for the WC the craze wouldn't have lasted for very long. The fact that they DIDN'T win is what made so many Americans want to continue fighting right along with them for that next big moment! So to celebrate? Hell yeah!!! They deserve it! These women came out on top regardless of how the game ended! They're an amazing team!
@kayla4n Why are you questioning perfection??? She can play soccer for three hours in rain and mud, be all dirty, sweaty, and in desperate need of a bath, and she'd still look hot.
@GottaFindYou54 We used to produce the best players in the world by far. Now our own league's best players are the foreign imports. Women's soccer is falling behind, because of the way our youth systems work, not the popularity. We don't train our players properly, so it won't matter how many more girls are playing. We already have more registered female players than any other country. How come we can't even beat Canada than?
@gringofreestyler Probably didn't help that a new formation was implemented two days before the game (4-2-3-1 instead of the 4-4-2 we played in WWC). US players were understandably uncertain in it. Also, Japan is ranked no. 4 in the world and beat along the way Germany (no. 2) and Sweden (beat US) as well. They were playing *very* well in the tournament and put in a phenomenal performance over the course of it, Sawa in particular.
@katreuscal Probably doesn't help that Pia still picks the same bad players and doesn't apply any creativity in the team either. I'm sorry if it's not the majority opinion, but the fact is that the USA WNT does not play very well at the moment. The overall competition being overall somewhat weak as well kind of helps us. Japan was a shocker to ever make the final. We should slaughter them. If Germany had made the final, they would have beat us 3-0 is my guess.
@gringofreestyler Meh, the players we have is what we have. I'm not sure there are too many out there that we haven't called in. The USWNT looked disjointed in the new formation, but expected that. We've always had trouble with Japan and when we've won in the past few, it's been by one goal. Very close. As for Ger, US is actually pretty used to playing teams like them. They're very direct in their style. They'll smash you in from the flanks and they don't have the speedy, clinical Schelin
@gringofreestyler canada makes the same mistakes as you guys in development....were just smaller. france and japan improved alot at the wc. why? because they have pro leagues with youth academies.
@wade2bosh I agree with very much with what you said. Canada's size though is really the only difference, but it is a big one especially if you look at men's as well. Foreign teams have improved, because they have better developmental systems in place, and the coaches are required to be more qualified to coach than they are in the USA and Canada. Here they basically let anyone coach soccer.
@gringofreestyler No. If anything, womens soccer has grown as a sport. I bet many people have become fans (like me) of the USWNT because of how the team played throughout the summer. Embarrassed? Hell no.

Why are we celebrating what happened in Germany? We lost in a match that was a supposed to be an easy win. If anything, we got embarrassed.
