@hotrodfirebird If you seriously think that this is a better version that the original by The Cult, then I feel sad for you that your taste in music sucks
@SonicandLuigilover59 what cuz ur name has th word sonic in it means ur a bigger fan. oh and since i made that comment my opinion has changed, since sega never officially said blaze sonic or silver were in any way romanticly related means it doesn't matter, every1 has their own opinion. if u like blaze and silver thats fine, and if i like blaze and sonic thats fine as well. so lets not make an argument out of nothing.
@supersawneekfan I know. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love the songs they do for Sonic games. But I also love the songs that they did that weren't in sonic games as well.
Are we really going to have a Sonic flame war here too? This song has nothing to do with the Sonic series. This is Crush 40. It's a cover of a song. This has nothing to do with Sonic or Blaze or any of the Sonic games. Just because it's Crush 40 doesn't mean it's instantly related to Sonic. I'm sick of people fighting just so they feel better about themselves. Seriously people. Grow up.
Say what you want, but both versions sound very similiar. I re-discovered this song when I got the album (Crush 40s'). And I know both versions, as I heard The Cult's many times, there are some slight differences, but, I think both kick ass. I just love the song.
Crush 40 should be considerated a normal band, not a Sonic band. But there's a bad thing, which is that the band ain't just Jun and Johnny, the bassist and drummer should appear as well in live concerts or in pictures. They should relese a new album with all original songs again.
Great Cover, I personally like this over the already good The Cult version. The voice is much clearer. The overall song sounds great. Crush 40 has made great songs in the past, and this is an example of one.
I'm not into either band but I am a musician. From a pure music/technical point of view this is the better version, mostly due to the bass player being far superior and driving it along. The real proof would be in a live performance, anyone can get it right in the studio with a good producer.
@WildPaso It would be a sad world if we all liked the same thing. It's a good number whichever version you're into. Good to hear from a fellow musician, keep on playing- always : -)
@toady224 I agree with you from the music/technical point...but I don't know...the original one has a sort of "atmosphere" that I could not find in this one. Still an awesome cover, undoubtedly..
@dragonfire144 Thanks for the 'heads up' buddy. I checked it out on your channel and I have to say i think the guy has good voice and they were real tight. I saw The cult in June this year, a treat for fans but in truth they didn't blow me away, they only managed to get the audience going with the last number- Sanctuary.
@toady224 Ya Sanctuary by them live is always good. Which is why I love the way crush 40 performs live. I just wish someday they would come to Canada, or at least America to tour

Dear Crush 40...please stick to writing your own songs please. You are a good band but Ian nailed it to begin with and no improvement or interpretation was needed.

Dude, some people gotta take a chill pill over this Crush 40 v The cult war thing lol! hav 2 admit im with crush 40. I aint gonna start swearing about it though there both awesome!
One of the things I really like about Crush 40 is you can actually hear their bass guitar. This version of Fire Woman isn't bad, it's just the lead singer's voice isn't deep enough to sound as good as Cult's singer, but its still a great cover.
oh boo hoo a singer in an 80s rock band is a druggie thats so baaad GO SCHOOL im a good kid all those druggies and drunkies can go to heck
you sound like a 10 year old kid by saying that. and he was a great singer, "druggie" or not. The greatest musicians of all time have all been "druggies" kid
@Arbiterisl33t69 depends what you define as great, man, you just can't get with the times, this version is the superior. i'm 18, and your probably some 40 year old who wants to remember the good ol days.
The times? Crush 40 isnt even that relevant anymore. I think theyre fucking great but theyre not well known among normal people that arent sonic fans.
And btw, man, I'm actually a year younger than you. I find it funny you assume I'm 40, as if you have to be old just to enjoy older music. This version IS the superior one, I'm just saying the dude from Cult had a great voice.
Gotta laugh at the original vs. cover argument...as covers go, this is one of the most faithful renditions I've ever heard. Not saying it's 100% the same, because that would be asinine, but it's pretty close.
Both good anyway, just pick the one you like and mash the replay button.
its amazing how bad they butchered the original song. how is it possible that people like this? thank god for the mute button and let me do you a favor 5:17
Killer Bass Line, that is a cut above the original tune. Never heard of these guys until now. Ian Astbury for sure got further in touch with "The Lizard King", but this isn't offensive.
Sweet Child O' Mine covers anyone? Like the craptastic job from Black Eyed Peas in tonight's Super Bowl... They even had Slash! And it was GOD AWFUL!
@dinein1970 Ive been listening to Crush 40 since Sonic Adventure and I don't think it would sound good if they did their own Sweet Child o' mine version. Just wouldn't sound right tbh.
this is a great cover in the sense that it's very faithful to the original material, but there's enough differences in there to identify it as their own. both versions are great songs!!
I do hate how people think this is Blaze the Cat's theme tune, or that it has anything to do with SEGA in general. So I'll say it now: THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH SONIC, BLAZE OR SEGA.
The sole reason as to why this song is here is because Crush 40 were fans of The Cult and wanted to show their appreciation by doing a cover of it. SEGA isn't going to use it as blaze's new theme, that was in Black Knight. Also, either version of this song is good either way (although Crush 40s has better guitar)
Oh my. Yet another attempt to remake music that doesn't need remade. This is just a terrible sounding version of a truly epic and classic song. You can tell the singer has no real heart in the lyrics. The rythm and base are totally not in synch with each other and the song gets lost.
Compared to the original, the guitars sound a bit weak and the chorus is song rather muted.
I can only guess the connection between The cult and Sonic The Hedgehog is that this song was originally on The Cult's "Sonic Temple" album which is older than the franchise. I guess they worked it in as a theme for Blaze and I suppose getting Sega's house band to cover it was cheaper than licensing the original, but... really, Sega. Ditch Crush 40 and hire Motorhead.
@diosoth Nah, it was just a cover on the best of album. Of course, I could be wrong as I haven't touched a 3D Sonic game in a long time, but a lot of their songs on the Best of Crush 40 album are covers.
I love how people don't realize that if a band does a cover version of a song, they're probably big fans too. Why hate fellow Cult fans? Love this version too.
Put it this way - if this was the version released in 1989, Fire Woman would not be considered one of the iconic songs of 80's - 90's rock. The Cult played this song like they meant it. This is the same song with no gravitas, all soul removed.
Gotta say, I've given both this version and the original The Cult version a listen, and I love them both. However, I lean towards this one as my favorite of the two
Jhonny Golei, Jun Senoue, Ted Poley, Kenichi Tokyo, Ian Astbury, Billy Duffy, these guy are the best, really i don't know why Crush 40 is not very very famous, because is an exelent band
Can't say these guys really improved at all on the original version, but I'm really glad that younger bands and especially fans are showing interest in GOOD rock & roll, rather than the whiney, watered-down, metrosexual stuff record companies have been putting out for the past 15 years. I think we can attribute alot of this interest to the Rock Band game. Rock from the 70's, 80's, and early 90's had a tendency to KICK ASS!
in my opinion, the original is much better, the musicians in this band are telented none the less, but it too much effect, the original was so simple, it really complimented the music and style, which this band cannot comprehend
To all the fanboys arguing out there in cyberspace.
It's freaking music. Whether you think this is better than the original, or vice versa, that's your opinion. Stop arguing about it as if you can actually prove your point as fact. Everybody feels differently about their music, and you cannot change that.
Is this the band that play sonic songs coz there is the same plucking technique with guitar and it sounds the same as in one of the sonic the hedgehog games! Anyway, that was pretty good, but The Cult's version is better!
Great, another good song ruined by some cheap imitators.

This version is better than the original song

I love how people don't realize that if a band does a cover version of a song, they're probably big fans too. Why hate fellow Cult fans? Love this version too.

YEA! BLAZE THE CAT RULES WITH THIS!
MrPhantaze 1 year ago 4
Put it this way - if this was the version released in 1989, Fire Woman would not be considered one of the iconic songs of 80's - 90's rock. The Cult played this song like they meant it. This is the same song with no gravitas, all soul removed.
mattwa33186 1 year ago
Not bad, but the Cult Version has a bigger over the top arena rock feel that this song truly deserves
fowler1401 1 year ago
This is actually very good. Two good and underrated bands are The Cult and Crush 40. Both versions are amazing :D
SpaceTrucker101 1 year ago
Like this song. Not a big fan of The Cult version, though. I just think this one sounds better, I guess.

This is absolute shit compared to the original. And I'm not even a purist.

I like Crush 40 and The Cult equally, but I'm gonna have to say The Cult's version is the best. But this version is awesome also.

I liked this song a lot, but I honestly think it sucks as a Sonic song.
sonikkrokks143 1 year ago
@sonikkrokks143 It's not a Sonic song, it's a cover of a song by The Cult

Gotta say, I've given both this version and the original The Cult version a listen, and I love them both. However, I lean towards this one as my favorite of the two

Jhonny Golei, Jun Senoue, Ted Poley, Kenichi Tokyo, Ian Astbury, Billy Duffy, these guy are the best, really i don't know why Crush 40 is not very very famous, because is an exelent band
CuentadeJoel 1 year ago 4
Can't say these guys really improved at all on the original version, but I'm really glad that younger bands and especially fans are showing interest in GOOD rock & roll, rather than the whiney, watered-down, metrosexual stuff record companies have been putting out for the past 15 years. I think we can attribute alot of this interest to the Rock Band game. Rock from the 70's, 80's, and early 90's had a tendency to KICK ASS!

Crush 40 Simpli rocks!

Ian Astbury > Johnny Gioeli, but Jun Senoue > Billy Duffy
IMO.

Yep, I also knew it was a cover of a Cult song. Though this is because my mum loves the Cult, and I played GTA: Vice City. :P
Claidheambmor 1 year ago
in my opinion, the original is much better, the musicians in this band are telented none the less, but it too much effect, the original was so simple, it really complimented the music and style, which this band cannot comprehend
rollspach 1 year ago
Nope. Sit down little boys (Crush 40), let the big boys (The Cult) show you how it SHOULD be done....
Fundive1 1 year ago
@Fundive1 well actually, a cover (which is this) is supposed to show respect to another band by playing their song... I think they did a good job

To all the fanboys arguing out there in cyberspace.
It's freaking music. Whether you think this is better than the original, or vice versa, that's your opinion. Stop arguing about it as if you can actually prove your point as fact. Everybody feels differently about their music, and you cannot change that.

$20 that all the sonic fantards didn't even know this is was originally made by The Cults.

@EcoReck The fanTARDS might not have, but I did. :\
And The Cult is singular. ^_^

@ThisMachineStudios
Haha, I knew it was by The Cult, too. *high fives*
This is one of my fav songs ever, but now I obviously like my favorite band's cover better. XD
Breezetail10255 1 year ago
Is this the band that play sonic songs coz there is the same plucking technique with guitar and it sounds the same as in one of the sonic the hedgehog games! Anyway, that was pretty good, but The Cult's version is better!
weeryzo09 1 year ago
i just wish they [the cult] would hold out a lyric longer than about 1/2 a beat or so. that would make it much better.

WHATEVER YOU SAY THIS IS AN EPIC WIN !!! THEY ROCK OKAY !!!???
pinythepinball 1 year ago
I like the guitars and drums, but the vocals just don't compare with Ian's from the original. To raspy, not enough soul.
Not a bad cover, though; I just prefer the original. No one will ever top that work of art. Thumbs up if you agree.
