@sneekylinux honestly, i think it was the update manager cuz that damn thing pops open ever other day to update one thing or another. and i dont know how to use ppa... =/ i learn quick though!
I installed the deb package on Debian Testing with no problems for those using Debian ;) There's no PPA for Debian and the OpenShot in the Debian repos is NOT the newest one so you'll have to install the deb package from OpenShot's launchpad site.
i had to change back to windows because of hardware issues... but funny how i miss the linux video editors, openshot espec and kdenlive... there are nothing that good and userfriendly in windows. Yes you can pay / crack something expensive/advanced, but i still dont like it as good as the 2 mentioned.
Why does it take so long to Render an animated title? It takes more than 25 minutes for a 4 second clipboard animation and I'm running a Quad at 3.9GHZ with 4GB or DDR3. This can not hardware related.
@sneekylinux ok have timed the most complicated one and 8 mins was it's time, but do remember it uses blender for it's back end and that is movie grade software man, check out metallix 100 for his stuff on blender
@sneekylinux Yes I 'm completely sure, I opened up Htop while I tried the same thing again and all 4 cores are hitting 100%.. That's 4 X 3.9GHZ.. But somehow the rendering is managing to consume everything i've got and still require more... Plently of Ram available still. It takes around 30 seconds per frame.
@fatriff can you send me the specs of your machine including cpu,ram,m/b gpu card etc and the distro your using if thats ok and i will have a hunt round for you, also what version of openshot and blender you have too
Ok, so after investigating a bit it seems it takes a age to render titles nomatter what spec you have.. Isn't this a little shocking? Anybody remember Xara3D years ago on the old Windoze? it was only a couple of MB in size and it rendered much more advanced titles than these instantly, there was no waiting.
I have tried both OpenShot & Kdenlive. I get the same problem with both of them. When I drag the cursor on the timeline the video & sound go out of sync & also the position, where I can find the section of video I am looking for also changes.
Can you tell me what I am doing wrong?
Remiss of me, but I hadn't got the PPA installed so thanks for the reminder!
@Chiqidico I'm guessing that you are using Ubuntu that has it's own repositories with a bunch of programs. But sometimes you want to install a program, and have it updated, that is not in the repo or it doesn't have the latest version of a program that you use. That's when you add an external repo. (PPA - Personal Package Archive = Repository)
Just search on YouTube or Google for "adding a ppa for ubuntu" or something similar and you should soon catch up.
@Gronken85 Arch Linux actually...I am already aware of how to add outside repositories...just had them referred to me as third party repositories. Not PPA...

@fatriff Perhaps a driver issue? Or you have some ultra settings? Rendering takes longer than you think. but not that long.
