Honestly our system now is still very competitive marketing wise, however products very rarely are completely innovative anymore. It seems to me we hit a point in time in the world where our entertainment value precedes anything else. For example Beck a person with no formal collage education, from my understanding, can have a show that is him essentially screaming we are all going to die and people take it as fact.

imo, FDR was only a great president because he led america quite well in WW2. what most liberals don't want you to know is that the new deal failed miserably, and actually made the depression last longer than usual. WW2 got us out after demand for goods went up considerably when the war started. so yes, FDR wasn't a good president for the New Deal. He was a pretty good president for getting rid of hitler and going to war, which is something peace loving liberals seem to hate.
