Hi again. Smile. I will be honest with you. If I did not study and pray on my own, there is a real chance that I would not be a "Christian". I say that because so many have misrepresented God. People can be very arrogant as though they have a secret. God doesn't have a "favorite". He wants all of us to want Him. Please don't get turned off from God or Jesus. They aren't the problem. I know this is a popular belief in the church, but the path John is referencing in Matthew/Luke IS NOT a path to "heaven". It is a path to "life". NO WHERE does it say heaven in the text.

Sir, you are asserting your conclusion. You are stating that if we live the right way (x, y, and z) we will have life (x, y, and z). The Bible does not teach that if we live like Christ we will have a marriage or a job or be declared criminally innocent. In fact, the paragon of our faith, Christ, didn't marry, didn't have a place to lay His head, and was declared criminally guilty and was killed on a cross. If it wasn't true for Christ, why would it be true of us?
My point was that most of us christians ON AVERAGE live a good life. And Christ does not for the most part have a problem with that. This is how we were to live life originally from the garden. Why would god have a problem with that? You seem to quickly jump right on promoting whip my back theology. That evidently in the millions of christians around the world is not always true. Therefore x y and z do not always work in favor of the bible because things are different depending on situation.
Salvation is not about "living a good life." We bring NOTHING to God. Salvation is a FREE GIFT (something that our ego doesn't like to hear because religion always wants to "add something that WE do"). But "good" people go to hell just as often as "bad" people. Hi. If you study the Bible, you realise that Hell was not mentioned in the Old Testament. It was only after Jesus came, did He begin to teach about Hell and destruction. Hell is an eternal separation from all of God. And outside of God, there is nothing good, righteous or fulfilling. Outside of God is full evil. I think these would be all the characteristics of hell.
If Christ began to teach about hell and destruction after the old testament, how can anyone in the old testament be accountable? If they knew of hell in the old testament they could have repented in time. A God of love cannot by definition separate himself from anything because love "endures all things" as the bible states. Love can only do what is best for someone. Hell is not what is best. Sinners need persuasive love and god can turn anyone like he did you and me.
God is indeed love, but he is also just and righteous. His love cannot compromise His other divine attributes. And as for the israelites in the OT, God was not far from them and they strayed themselves. They had all the prophets warn them, like Isaiah, Elijah and even Jonah. But they refused to listen. Are u suggesting that hell serves as a push factor even after the new testament? Hell is not what is best, but I think ur believing in a man-centred God. Our faith is to be Christ-centred.

The Bible is radically clear.
Repent and believe.
Christ's call is simple, 'Come, follow me.'
This is not a call to be answered in order to have provision in this life, other than the salvation of your soul.
Christ himself says that we will be brought before Kings for His sake; that families will be torn apart by the sword of the gospel.
I humbly assert that the passage is indeed talking about two paths that lead to two different places, along two different routes.
