You can hear the exact moment they switch audio. When he says "Eleven seconds" it's 2004. While he is saying "you've got ten seconds" you can hear that it's 1980.
The only problem I have with this movie is that they had Al Michaels re record the calls. I love how they used the original call for the last 10 seconds, but, just like that call, you cannot recreate extreme emotion from a moment. In the movie, Al Michaels sounds somewhat excited when Mike Eruzione scores, but in the actual game broadcast, he sounds exuberant, as if he is thinking "am I really seeing what I'm seeing?" They should have used the original calls for the entire game scene.
Like other events in my lifetime I will never forget where I was when I was watching this game. To be honest I would have rather been with my dad than a dorm room full of guys, but beggars can't be choosers. Great job Coach Brooks (rip) and all of TEAM USA.
@The1nvizibleMan Will you please upload Rocket Richard? With(/out) English subtitles! Please! Btw, Thank you for uploading this, couldn't find it anywhere from Finland. :D
@The1nvizibleMan sorry for the long wait had to make a new profile but french with english subtitles will do if the movie was originally filmed in french
@TheMandoification I'm trying a different method of recording- instead of using a capture card im trying to "rip" it to the computer, to save time. The first time, it messed up (switching between French and English audio 0_o), so I've changed some of the settings. Hopefully it works!
"My boys defeated Finland to won the gold medal...." so Finland was 2nd but still there is a sweden's flag at 5:08. Still, great movie. THANKS FOR UPLOADING!!!
The metal round was a round robin format, i.e. every team plays every other team. After defeating the Soviet's we still could have finished1st-4th. We beat Finland we take gold we lose to Finland we could have taken silver, bronze, or nothing. Like if x beats y and we tie m then we come in third.... you get the point
When I saw this in the theatre, at the "Do you believe in miracles? YES!" part, the little kid in front of me jumped right out of his seat with his hands in the air, it was so cute.
And I'm Canadian, hahaha. But winning's universal.
according to hubby who has seen the movie too many times, they show the actual shot from the movie at the end when he says MIRACLE, not a HOCKEY SHOT.
@mydebbers lol sorry; that was a real photo from the actual game. in the special features, at the end of one of the videos, it shows herb brooks's reaction to eruzione's goal. i should post it up soon :)
@mydebbers in the special features, it showed that they tried to get him to recreate his words, but it wasn't the same, emotion-wise. so they took the "do you believe in miracles? YES!" commentary from the original game. and fitted it into the scene. they never said anything about the shot, though. when i watched the original, i didn't see anyone take a last shot.
they only things i don't like about this movie is that 1.when they said that the russians were even the best in the nhl. well what about the 1976 game when the Flyers made them walk off the ice.later the Flyers won the game. and 2.they said they won by intimidation how bout when Van Imp(Flyer) ran into the guy wiht his elbow and they walked off the ice(same game) and when Clarke (Flyer) broke the guys ankle in the Summit Series and they didn't win a game after. besides that,it's great.
@Pennilee1 this actually happened in the 1980 winter olympics, though not every scene did. For example, jack o'callahan and rob mcClanahan weren't rivals; they just used that for dramatic effect, the herbie drill after the same actual ended when mark johnson slammed his stick on the boards in frustration, and lots of the penalty scenes and goalie saves are left out. but the us did beat the soviets for the first time in 20 years 4-3.
This game was something that will never happen again. Our apartment complex had all the doors open and tv's full blast as we all screamed for this team. For ten long minutes the Russians hammered that goalie. it truly was a miracle team. thank you for uploading this!
Note how the announcer's voice appears to change during the last 10-12 seconds of the game. It's because the director chose to use the announcing used during the actual game in 1980, he felt the emotion could not be recreated (he was right). USA! USA!
fuckin love this movie.

I think that the title it's kind of inapropriate because ... Why should it be a miracle ?
Those guys had to kick their own ass to win the olimpic games and it's thanks to their sacrifices that they won ... Not thanks to a miracle ...
