This is not about affending people or not some times it just happens. Why do people get affended to begin with can't they simply just not care...not usually and thats because usually there is truth behind what was said and they don't want to atmitt it. So guess what we christian are not sorry if we affend beacuse what were saying is something you need to hear and we're doing it out of love
Atheists are offended by a fake God's followers who feel they have the right to control the world and dole out punishement to those who think different.
The New Testament CLEARLY supports the practice of owning slavery as well as the practice of selling your daughter into sexual servitude. Of course, pointing this out to Christians will merely result in them denying that, or uncomfortably changing the subject.
The Bible, like the Koran, is a cherry-picked book. People focus on what they like about it, and ignore the bad things it says.
@Fudgeya I don't know what you're reading but I have read the New Covenant (Testament) and it does not call for selling ANYONE into sexual slavery. NOT AT ALL.
It says to abstain from sex unless you are married and once you're married- do not cheat and commit adultery.
And it doesn't support owning slaves. It talks about people owning servants that worked off debts because to those people, it was a common practice. But it does not support it.
I gotta love when Christians claim that America was founded on their principles. In it's design, it owes far more to pre-Christian Greek and Roman governments.
I mean, slavery was certainly a Christian virtue, but "love thy neighbor" didn't exactly apply to the indigenous peoples
its funny that atheists think us the illogical ones. We believe in a god we cant see they are OFFENDED by a god the dont even believe in. thats a laugh.
It's not about God. It is about intolerance toward's intolerant pepople like you guys on the christian right. Real pople who want to force their belives on others by restricting their personal freedom in the name of their god.
This is about god. We may seem to force it, but that's because people don't understand. We try to help people with our beliefs, and people who can't see that are the ones who will be depressed until the day at the end of their life when they realize they need God. You can never be truly happy until you have let him into your heart, and that is what this is about, saving a generation so God can do his work in them. And I am all for this.
Christianity sure didn't keep Ted Haggard from being gay and taking meth. Nor did it keep Jimmy Swaggert from hiring a hooker.
Come to think of it, it doesn't keep anyone from doing anything. Doesn't keep Jerry Falwell or Pat Robertson from spreading propaganda and paranoia.
I hope any kids who are watching this study up on these characters before you try and "take back America" (even though it started out as a secular nation).
No it didn't. You'll always have a choice to follow Jesus, or not. Even after you're born again. You won't be made perfect when you get saved, but your sins will be covered by the shed blood of Jesus and if you keep after Him He will help you to make the right choices. But God will never overide your will. Choose life, choose Jesus. And you obviously know nothing of history to make ignorant statement ike the last.
"And you obviously know nothing of history to make ignorant statement ike the last."
What, so your first amendment doesn't exist? You'd better not be American because you wouldn't want a non-American atheist to know more about your country's history than you.
Read the Amendment through a few times, slowly. If you still don't understand it, repeat this exercise. If you still really don't get it, I suggest finding an elementary school teacher to help you out with that simple sentance. No one here is trying to establish a theocracy except you.
HAHA! funny. Certainly it is not christianity that saves you. Christianity is nothing but a name. God isn't a religion. Only God can save you, a true relationship and love for God. calling yourself a part of the christian religion... that does nothing. that cannot save you. sheesh you have no clue what you are talking about. So you are an athiest? if you want real answers so you don't get caught looking like a fool, read the Case for Christ by Lee Strobel.
"You atheist moron, it's God, not Christianity, DUH!" Yes I understand all that. No sense in screwing around with semantics.
Also, books like the one you mentioned can only reaffirm the beliefs of those who already believe. You can't prove that Jesus was the son of God. You have to take it on faith.
well if you would read the book The Case for Christ by Lee Stroble, he was an athiest while writing the book! He didn't believe any of it.. thats why he did the research. there is proof, there are solid eye witness testimonies that Jesus was the son of God.
Wassup!!Please don't judge the whole CHristian according to what the bad things people dod. REmember that CHristians helped fight slavery and alot of other stuff that you know is bad. Why not remember thatt little tidbit too? WHy you picking the bad stuff?Love Ya!!
When exactly did christians exclusivally help fight slavery? There were christians that helped free christian slaves being held by other christian slaveowners, but that had nothing, zero, zip, nada, zilch to do with religion. It had to do with economics. So please let me know where you are getting this information.
My mistake; the US did start out as a Christian nation. Back when you were keeping slaves, burning witches and killing off the indians in the name of Jesus. Of course the founding fathers saw this as a problem which is why they wanted to establish a secular nation, one that would not favor one religion over another. OH how unfair of them!
I don't know what else to tell you. It's a secular nation. Ever since the time of Washington, Jefferson, et al. "secular" doesn't mean "anti-religion"
Everyone makes mistakes many times in their life. What they did is not acceptable in any way, and I am sure that if any one of them was real with Christ, they would realize what they were doing was wrong, and would have stopped.

The bible says that slavery happened, it doesnt say it was good. Besides the followers of christ there was no christianity then, most were jewish

Good or not, it condones it while telling slaves to be loyal to their masters.

First Amendment:
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;"
I don't know who's educating you, but... geez.

There is no proof that Jesus is the son of God. There's barely enough to proof to say he existed, let alone he was a deity.
