i'll never get over how shitty the setups are in this show, and how shittily edited it is. they cut out any breaks of laughter in the audience, which is probably for time constraints, but then horribly dub them over wherever the comics are taking the bit, so there's just obviously fake laughter over period of time where they're doing setups to punchlines
@xXxNWishxXx i have no idea what you're talking about, but even if two comics organically come up with a bit (parallel thinking), if it's clear that one comic had it first, generally speaking, it's their bit. if that wasn't the case, it would be like murdering something and telling whoever is arresting you, "I didn't know murder was illegal here"
Once she's (poorly) mined all of Joan Rivers' old material, she should check out Lily Tomlin's The Search for Signs of Intelligent LIfe in the Universe. There is some funny stuff there she can steal.
I am, in fact, the comedy police. And it's not just the same premise, it is the same joke, practically verbatim. Except Joan's is at leaste set up by bringing up the people in the Natl Enquirer who see UFOs. Whereas this hack just starts off by "Everyone who sees a UFO is a Southerner." Who are all these Southerners seeing UFOs? Anyway, everyone had a fit (rightfully so) for Dane Cook stealing Louis CK's material. Kirson has done the same thing.
Jessica's going to need to send Joan Rivers a check. That UFO joke is from Rivers' comedy album, What Becomes a Semi Legend Most. Joan's version:
"A UFO has never been spotted by an intelligent person! Believe me...a UFO has never landed at Yale, or Harvard, or Princeton. It's always two assholes with Coors beer on a recreational vehicle. 'I sawd it! I sawd it! I wud skinnin' rabbits and there it was!"
Nice going, joke thief! The Button-Down Mind of Bob Newhart has some great material, too.
@MrReeseRideout, dozens of comics have used the same premise, but each one makes fun of it differently. should they all send joan a check too? are you the comedy police? get a life troll

For all of you who are saying that Jessica "took" this from Joan Rivers:
1. Jessica's is nothing like it, except for the fact she mentions southerners.
2. Ever thought that Jessica didn't hear Joan's?
3. There is plenty of material in this world, but sometimes you find some that are similar. This will just happen.
