@KarikoEmpire34 Instead of C-up I always use the Bow, since you can look wherever you want without the look "springing" back to the front, the bow does take a little screen, but its better thatn having to hold the joystick to look at the clock tower (or wherever you want to stare). Also you can transform into deku, and set the "aiming" view for the bubbles, there´s no noise and no item on screen xD
This atmosphere is what most people in the west are feeling now with unemployment, social unrest and riots, increasingly corrupt and indebted goverments, feminist supported family breakdown, societal collapse.
The bells represent the countdown to 2012 and WW3, there will be blood.
My absolute favorite Zelda game of all time. I don't think anyone would deny that when the clock strikes midnight on the final day and this music starts playing, its one of the most surreal moments in video game history. I still get chills down my spine when I hear this music and this is why I love Nintendo because this is a moment that only Nintendo can bring to the table. Sony and Microsoft can only dream of having half the awesome franchises that Nintendo has such as Zelda.
"If it's something that can be stopped. then just try to stop it!" Majora Spoke the truth...this land had a hero.....but..if danger such as this ever came to earth..We are doomed..There will be no hero....
In Ocarina of time coming out of the temple after you just became an adult to see everything rotted, Death Mountain covered in fire and the town full of Redeads was intense.
In Majora's mask the sky becomes a lucid morning mesh of purple, orange and pink while the moon sinks towards you and the Earth trembles under your feet and that bell... just keeps tolling in panic.
This music is so calm but it gives you the most horrible OH SHIT WHATDOIDOWHATDOIDO feeling. It's such a pretty track but I hated it as a kid and listening to it now still makes me feel stressed out.
Imo, if you were somehow able to approach OoT and MM without prejudices or expectations, as indivudal and unrelated games, you would probably find MM to be better. OoT was extremely simplistic, and MM was a lot deeper in almost every respect (because the developer team were more experienced, of course). I enjoyed both - OoT has the advantage of unnatural nostalgia though.
one night lately i had a nightmare about that FU!@#$ moon and it even spoke to me it was so freaking creepy and i think it wanted blood and i was like WTF 0.0 that may be the worst nightmare of all that i had you don't wanna have nightmares about this moon trust me (i wasn't high i don't do drugs)
I know a lot of people may think OOT was better than MM, but the atmosphere for MM made it the REAL legend. Also, I've been hearing how TP is such a dark game to these younger kids who are being introduced to LoZ for the first time. I believe MM was much darker in my opinion, simply because MM revolved around death consistently. TP tried too hard to be a darker game, whereas MM didn't need to try.
I cant say MM is better than OOT as much as I can say OOT is better than MM.
I love OOT because it was literally the first game that got me into gaming, it was a childhood memory game that will be cherished forever.
I love MM equally because of what MM is. But MM doesen't surpass OOT because of the memory OOT made, and OOT doesen't surpass MM because MM had a more in-depth storyline and sidequests.
Yet I love both games over Wind waker (though I loved that game too) as well as TP.
The reason why I love and felt down from this song is because of the Kafei and Anju side quest. Looking at the two of them finally together and happy only to remember that this music is playing and the lovers will die. But atleast they die together..... It is one of the few moments in a video game that actually makes me feel heavy with emotions. But then I play the song of time.
The atmosphere of MM is still unrivaled as far as I'm concerned. My favorite part? No matter where you are in the world, you can feel the tremors the moon is causing. No matter where you are in the world, you can hear the clock chiming. Both serve as reminders: Time is running out. They're kind of casual on the first two days, but at midnight on the third? It's like the world is starting to panic. Time is running out. Time is running out. TIME IS RUNNING OUT.
Do people have no sense of dignity? I think this game was either underlooked, harshly judged, or a little bit of both. People are so busy swooning over OOT that the sequel does not get any recognition at all. It's kind of sad really.
I'm probably going to be beaten into a bloody unrecognizeable mass of flesh for this...but compared to Majora's Mask, as a Zelda game OoT seemed downright generic. It was a good story, and the graphics for their time were amazing, but that was it. Majora's Mask really pulls you in emotionally and has you feel for every single character you meet.
Its amazing how this song takes you to the atmosphere of the game and you really feel the sadness of a near destruction, when i let the moon fall for the first time i played the game i felt so bad :(
Thanks for upload this song, i love it, and sorry if my english is bad, im mexican lol
when it comes to which is better i cant say because i beat OOT so long ago i cant remeber half the game and i have never played MM i wish i could it sounds like a great game
I know what you mean. Most people think that OOT was better than MM, but I think that MMs atmosphere was better than OOTs. Plus, I had totally different feelings when I played MM again as an adult.
But Ocarina of Time is a fantastic game, nonetheless.
I tried playing through MM when I was 10 years old, I couldn't. I was pretty much on the final stages and the last day but the atmosphere overwhelmed me. I finished the game when I was 17. My favorite Zelda by far.
@puck1310 I think MM and OoT are too different to be compared. They have the same gameplay, but like you said their atmospheres are completely different. OoT was a bustling world to be explored, with Zoras and Gorons and Hyrule and bright music and clear skies. MM is like a dying world, dark and sad and everyone just waiting for the end.
@Katana991 I'm dead serious. The dream that night kept repeating it's self a total of 4 times. Everything was completely destroyed by the massive impact it made... There was nothing left at all.....
@gaminggod90 I hardly have nightmares like that (except for one I had years ago). I wish I can have a nightmare the way you did, I could use them as inspiration for story ideas.
@gaminggod90 You know, I used to have dreams about playing Majora's Mask, usually panicking when the moon starts coming down. But the dreams stopped after finally playing the game. Sounds kind of funny, right?
@Katana991 Hmm this remids me I once had a really weird dream: the moon started crashing then suddnely i started moving away from the city very quickly i flew over a beach with a sunset still seeing the moon crash
then i found myself in a desert looking at the moon crashing but i still had link playable my favorite dream
I remember when this used to be my favorite game because of the masks, now its my favorite game because its JUST SO EPIC! its a very emotional game T^T
The bells really make the atmosphere of this complete.
When the situation has become so dire... so hopeless... he must know that his end is coming, yet all the man in that bell tower can do is just stay there. Ringing that bell as he looks to the sky waiting for the end.
@Vulpecia Your comment reminded me of the scene of the movie '2012' where a Tibetan Monk played a bell in the mountains for the last time while a tsunami of several thousands of feet high is heading towards him.
@Vulpecia The best part is that you can hear them no matter where you are. Whether standing in the middle of Clock Town or deep in a dungeon miles away, when the end approaches, the bells begin. They, like the flow of time itself, are inescapable. Omnipresent. The end is coming. It doesn't matter where you go. It doesn't matter where you hide. The bells will find you. Time will find you. No friends . . .
No home . . .
No time . . .
No hope . . .
No slow descent into darkness, you're there from the start to the finish . . .
The moment you feel that rumble in the ground, you know you're not ready; three days is not enough time to prepare.
This shows the dark reality of life: sometimes you get the option, but not the time to solve everyone's problems.
Three days is not enough time to save everyone . . .
