  • Staci, what is the name of the tassels you made of that aran afghan?

  • @patobejarano I'm not sure if there is a name for the tassels I made here - I think they're just ordinary tassels. :)

  • lovin the starbucks cup in the background

  • @verpinkknits I understand.

  • @verypinkknits Can finish your tutorial on this project? Or did you already complete videos for it?

  • @mishad1229 Yes, this tutorial is complete, but the rest of the videos are only available to folks who have purchased the pattern.

  • :X

  • I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE the shawl in the background with the colourful stripes. Do you have any videos on how to make this? I would be forever grateful if you had any !!

  • @schnecki666 That pattern is called the Clapotis, and it is available on the knitty website. (Sorry, YouTube won't let me give you a direct link here in the comments! But you can find it.) I don't have any videos on that, since it is not my design. :)

  • @maplestoryfreak10 Yes, the Aran Islands are part of Ireland. This type of knitting is also called an "Irish Fisherman" pattern.

  • @maplestoryfreak10 I think that proves that you're a better knitter than you think you are! :)

  • @hotdog1997 Oh - are you referring to a different pattern than the one in this video? Sorry - I have a lot of patterns out there. :) But I don't think I have a blanket pattern that requires seaming. Please let me know which pattern you're talking about, and I'll be able to better answer your question.

  • @hotdog1997 There are no panels in this shawl - it is all knit together as one piece. These videos are made to accompany the actual written pattern, which is available for purchase and download on my website. There is a direct link to the download page in the video description. :)

  • That's really interesting! Thanks!

Also, do you sell the pattern for the beautiful shawl behind you?

  • @MadameHelgasFolly The shawl behind me is a pattern called Clapotis. It is a free pattern, available on the Knitty website. (Sorry, can't give you a direct link in the comments.)

  • @verypinkknits Oh that's fantastic, thank you so much! I was searching through your website like crazy :) I love the colours you've used.

  • what type of cast on method did you use?

  • @fastgirl1245 I used the Long-Tail Cast-On. I have a video on this, but I'm unable to link to it here in the comments. If you'd like to see it, just go to my channel page and type "long tail" in the search box.

  • Staci, I worked the first row and now I am unsure how to work the second row (wrong side row). Do I work Chart A , row 2, from right to left on the pattern?

  • @mom2times1 thanks for the note, I'm happy to help.

After you work Row 1 (a right side row), you go to Row 2 (a wrong side row). When you're looking at the chart, you read it from R to L on the right side rows, and from L to R on the wrong side rows. You work across the whole chart this way, across each pattern.

I hope that explains it for you...please let me know if I can help any further!

  • Very interesting history! And I love the scarf!
