  • My filter is more like a cap -- I try to turn it and the little plastic fins inside just break off

  • You come off as condescending in your video. I'm sure it's not intentional but it doesnt make me want to watch.

  • painful to watch. couldn't finish bc the guy is trying too hard to be funny.

  • that started off gay

  • Brevity is not this mans strength...

  • hahaha..... funny guy.

thanks for the video... help me alot.

  • You forgot to mention that you need to take the cap off of the old one an re-install it on the new one.

  • Does this guy remind you of Jim Varney?

  • My neighbor just asked me to help change the water filter on her Westinghouse refrigerator. It's located at the bottom and the old filter is supposed to pop out, but it isn't doing that. (Seems to be stuck.)

Also, the outer knob came off and I'm unable to get it back on to help pull out the old filter.

Any ideas how I can get the old filter to pop out?

    Thanks.

  • @SanDiegoSunriser The filter usually screws in and the handle usually slides onto the end of the filter unless it is really old. If it is really old, then I would get a pair of plyers or visegrips and try uncrewing (counter-clockwise 360 degrees) then pulling stright out. Make sure water is turned off before doing this. Beyond then, you might have to call a local plumber and ask who might know your frig modle etc. for advise. Also, go to the frig website. Usually they have blogs to get info from

  • If i have a RO system (Reverse osmosis) can i take out the fridge filter and run it like that? Thanks

  • @SATXDONKEY I do not know how to handle that for you. Sorry.

  • @ItsUpToYouTOO My friend is a plumber and told me that you do not need the fridge filter when using an advanced 4 stage RO system

  • @ItsUpToYouTOO Hi, My whirlpool fridge is missing the filter but the ice and water are working proper. Does this mean the previous owner has bypassed the filter or can it work without one?

    thx

  • Thanks for the info. Informative and we were able to replace our filter. We are first-time homeowners, so this is all new to us. Thanks !

  • Thanks. I didn't know i had to turn off the water.

  • I feel like I'm 5 again but informative. thank you

  • Hey thanks jim!

  • Try as I might I can't insert the filter cartridge all the way in. I even tried putting the old one in and that one won't even go all the way in. It's not as easy as it looks. Any ideas?

  • I did all the steps to replace a fridge filter however the red light on my fridge is still showing after I replaced it. How would I make it so it goes green again?

  • You need to press and hold the 'replace filter light/button on your frig and then it will reset itself.

  • Suddenly it seems these filter's price went up three times!!!!!! The real recession they never told you about.

  • They have! We have a LG now and the water filter costs close to $50! Major ripoff. So, go onto your frig manufacture's website and let your voice be heard!

  • this is the guy from reno 911

    weigals boyfriend

  • my fridge is leaking from the back...in the area where the water tubes connect and split ways....i have somewhat the same fridge as you....can you can me out??

  • It sounds like your water value system. I replaced my friends because it was not working correctly. You will have to either (1) turn off water line to frig to stop leak or (2) get frig repair man/woman to fix. Or (3), if you know a friend who is a handyman to get him/her to help. I live in ATL, GA.

  • Thanks for the information,

Dou you have any idea on how to change the filters that are in a vertical position like the ones that comes in Samsung refrigerators (Samsung DA29-10105J)

  • Look at the frig model's user manual where instructions are to replace water filter. If you don't have, then go to frig makers website and download user manual. Please make sure you turn off water line going to your frig 1st before replacing filter.

  • nice to know how to do that... so when are you suppose to change your water filter? how often?

  • Your frig should have an indicator that tells you. But if it does not, then I would replace twice a year (every 6 months) for a family of four. Also, ask the maker of the filter.

  • Jim do you have to turn the water off behind the refrig first? Thanks

  • No, the frig water line will close when you take the filter out and open when you put the new one in. Jim C

  • Thanks Jim, my kenmore is a bit newer than yours, but I think I can tackle it now.... you're help is appreciated.... a little wacky...but appreciated

  • Thanks, Jim!

  • Thanks for the vid!

  • you have the most annoying voice in the world.

  • Thanks for this very practical advice Jim.
