  • God the Father, Jesus, Mary and 3 archangels dictated messages of Love to Katya Rivas from Bolivia 1996 in over 8 books, among them are The Great Crusade of Love, The Passion Of Christ, From Sinai to Calvary etc; to Vassula Ryden, to Julia Kim, to Maureen Sweeney Kyle, Nancy Fowler, to Dwi, a Moslem woman from Indonesia..... anyone interested give me email address..... these messages to gather God's people around the world to fight against satan and his followers in the End Times... be ready

  • Those who are spiritually empty should not open their mouth too big as if they know the truth.. they should be humble and learn from mystic because mystic is the best way to know the truth. if one only read books, he can never know the truth. Jesus said through Katya Rivas 1996 in the book The Great Crusade of Love: "Love is not found in the pages of the books but in the heart of man" Put it into practice and gradually you will get closer to God....

  • The notion Jesus died on the Cross for humanity is too deep for many. It doesn't mean that Jesus already paid the price for our souls so we will be free. Jesus command each one of us to carry our own cross so that in this way His burden is lighter. Jesus came to show us the way to Heaven but he who doesn't really follow His examples cannot end up in Heaven; Jesus wants us to practice goodness, compassion and kindness not empty words and mere belief....

  • Pastor Lassman's spirituality is still at kindergarden; he is very young at anything spiritually that;s why he always looks for the word 'Purgatory' in Bible to confirm the truth. Any church that has a young priest who is not mature spiritually will only make the church empty. because no Holy Spirit in him to empower him to draw the crowd.... may he directly experience mystic so he will know the truth.... he is spiritually empty.....

  • Sorry, but I've watched two of this guy's videos now and his history is flat out wrong. There are plenty of references to Purgatory before the years 500-1000. Sometimes I wonder why people feel like they're educated enough on a topic to speak to others about it (and put it up on the internet) when they are missing (or ignoring) huge chunks of information on it.

  • @cburton103 ... so where is your evidence?

  • @bella50008 The quotes are in this article: catholic.com/tracts/the-roots-of-purgatory

While the exact word "purgatory" wasn't used frequently before the year 500, the doctrine is there. In the quotes from the article above, look for how the fathers talk about prayers helping people who have already died and about how people are cleansed (frequently "by fire") after their death.

Please let me know if you have any questions. God bless you this Christmas season.

  • @cburton103 ..Right. I am understanding more and more why the catholic church denies the Bible as final authority and rejects Sola Scriptura. It is blatantly obvious that you must base these heretical teachings on sources other than the Bible otherwise you'd have to admit that they are indeed false as the Bible neither teaches nor condones any of them, ie.,Purgatory, mary worship, praying to statues/ dead saints, immaculate conception, etc. Amazing.

No further questions. God bless you as well.

  • @bella50008 I never said that the Bible doesn't support Purgatory. 1 Corinthians 3:11-15 and 2 Macc. 12:41–45 are very strong evidence for Purgatory from the Bible.

My claim was that this man was making faulty historical claims and you asked me for proof. I provided that proof, and you ignored it. If you can show me three examples of early Church Fathers who support Sola Scriptura from before the year 1000 AD, then we can talk. Otherwise, it's obvious that SS is a manmade doctrine, is it not?

  • @bella50008 I suppose silence is your response; Sola Scriptura cannot be found in the early years of Christianity, and is thus clearly a man-made doctrine.

  • @cburton103 bro, check online for the messages received by Katya Rivas (The Great Crusade of Love, the Passion of Christ etc) dictation from God The Father, Jesus, Mary, 3 archangels and Paul to Katya 1996..... Vassula Ryden, Maureen Sweeney Kyle, Nancy Fowler..... and Dwi, a moslem woman from Indonesia.....

  • If its not in the bible that makes it nonbiblical

  • what a way to start a talk on something: first saying that purgatory is good then saying that is not in the bible.

  • R Catholic Church is right about Purgatory. The bible talks about a cleansing fire, in [1 Cor.3:15] it says, But if someone's work is burned up, that one will suffer loss, the person will be saved, but only as through Fire. And in [2 Maccabees 12:46] it says, Thus he made atonement for the dead that they might be freed from their sin. (1 and 2 Maccabees is accepted by the Catholic Church in its councils, all Eastern Orthodox traditions also accept these books).

  • @MysticalCity How dare you say Martin Luther is in hell?! I believe God rejoiced the day Luther exposed the lies of the papacy at that time, particularly the selling of indulgences. You don't agree with Luther, so, that's it--He's in hell, huh? I've never wished/hoped hell for ANYONE-ever! God help me, I pray to never be that cruel! BTW, I may not be a Catholic, but I have never said they wouldn't go to Heaven! I believe Jesus died for our sins and we are saved by faith in Him ALONE!! Amen!GB!

  • What I find funny is that prayer for the dead was something that Jews practiced during the time of Jesus (I don't know if they still do or not) thus the Christian church inherited that practice. The church fathers even say it's a holy ordinance like what Gypsee posted but because of protestants rejecting the "apocrypha" and even history itself you get a maliced Christianity. If you reject the apocrypha please for the love of God, read Wisdom of Solomon.

  • Roman Catholics believe the place exists (but believe something wrong about it) while most protestants horribly interpret "The Rich man and Lazarus" and believe Abraham's Bosom is something else (Heaven) thus not believing the place exists which makes Roman Catholics more correct than most protestants.

  • As one who adheres to Eastern Orthodox theology, Roman Catholics are more correct about "Purgatory" than are protestants. Roman Catholics have mistaken the place of "Abraham's Bosom/Paradise" (look it up on wikipedia) as being a place where the "lukewarm" in faith go to to have sin purged from oneself so that they become "hot" in the faith (thus they gave it an additional name; purgatory). Most (not all) protestants mistake Abraham's bosom as Heaven.

  • wow - utter ignorance!!!.. Purgatory exists BECOUSE of Christs meritory death on the Cross! It is the flame of God's love that cleanses our soul.

And for the second Macc - read about, Councils of Hyppo, Carthage and Rome, Canon of the Scripture and the Septuagint! - those books were in the Bible long time before Christianity...

  • I am a Catholic Monk. I do respect you, Pastor, put the way you talk about the Roman Catholic Church is unacceptable. You are not open to learning about Purgatory, you simply dismiss the idea of it. What is the very last line of your video? We are both Men of God, however I think you need to be put in check. Please Pastor, for the sake of the people, express your ideas in a PROPER manner. Thank you.

  • lol, this is not right....*his roman catholic thinking, is fake*

  • Thanks for another "My superstitions are better than your superstitions" presentation.

  • NO PURGATORY FOR ME, YOU CATHOLICS ARE JUST FOOLS

  • @MichaelJacksonwithJ5 Look in the mirror and examine your own faults before you call the largest body of believers something less than you.

  • @catchzz hell no! there is no purgatory, you fool! only a heaven and an earth, not a purgatory, cos theres none.

  • @MichaelJacksonwithJ5 Fortunately your beliefs isnt what makes truth. Study the subject, the evidence is in Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition. Just bc you personally dont want to believe it doesnt make it untrue. Looks like your the only fool here.

  • @catchzz then why did i f**king comment here? no purgatory!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @MichaelJacksonwithJ5 I see what kind of Christian you are, if you really even are. You dont sound intelligent at all. Like I said before, if you personally dont want to believe in purgatory thats fine. Truth doesnt depend on your personal belief. I bet you dont even know what the church says about purgatory. You base your knowledge on nothing but preconceived notions.

  • Purgatory is a defined term used to express the need to pray for the souls who have not completed expiated for their own sinfulness here on earth. Let me explain. I borrow your Rolls Royce and I total the vehicle. I aske you to forgive me and you do. Does that mean there are no more temporal requirements for me to fix or correct for the incident i have caused? Of course there is!!! Read this scripture and tell me if this applies to you tight at this moment. Revelation 21:27

  • This Pastor has no place in bringing up disagreements about other Christian Churches while Teaching his own.. Especially since Lutheran Churches have more to worry about in keeping their flocks together than to tear down other Faiths. If he thinks he is so smart, than he should explain why he believes in the tenets he teaches and focuse on those because folks, as one who studies scripture and early patristics, he has a long way to go in any class.

  • It is totally wrong to to speak ill of another Faith in this demonstration about a doctrine which this Pasotor has totally skewed. His understanding of Catolic Doctrine is wrong..Purgatory is IMPLICITLY in the Old and New Testatments. I will not argue with Him here. Suffice it to say, we in our RCIA classes don't put down other churches for what they "Don't" believe rightly or wrongly. This is demeaning to me and it is improper! This Pastor needs a class about civilty.

  • Maccabees did make it into the old testament. Luther took those books out. Take off your collar and quit impersonating a priest. Purgatory is backed in scripture.

  • its people like him, that makes people fall away from the Church, The Roman Catholic Church, is the true Bride Of Christ, the word purgatory is not in the Bible, but it is mentioned about, 1 Corinthians 3:15 If any man's work burn, he shall suffer loss; but he himself shall be saved, yet so as by fire. This guy saying purgatory doesnt exist just basically called every saint a liar, thats mostly what the saints did was pray for the souls in purgatory, St.Faustina, Saint Pio, Blessed Anna Emmerich,

  • @MysticalCity Absolutely. And he has no place in bringing up disagreements about other Christian Churches while Teaching his own.. Especially since Lutheran Churches have more to worry about in keeoing their flocks together than to tear down those from others'

  • this man is a wolf in sheeps clothing

  • purgatory is saying the blood of Jesus wasn't enough to pay for all our sins, when and fact the bible say in hebrews 10 He went in once for all !!!

  • @blessedwithoutmeasur Jesus dying on the cross has nothing to do with purgatory, Jesus died so we can enter Heaven! or have a chance, everyone goes through purgatory, the only difference with the saints is that most of them suffered there purgatory on earth, and when they died went straight to heaven.

this dude have everything wrong, theres lots of verses on purgatory in the Bible, also 2 Maccabees is in the Catholic Bible(Douay-Rheims) the reason its not in the corrupt kjv, is because--

  • @MysticalCity Read hebrews 10 It is good reading, tells us Jesus went in once and acomplish salavation for all of us one time no need for purgatory, He for ever prefected us, salvation is trusting Jesus He died so you and I could go to heaven, Romans 10:9-10

  • @blessedwithoutmeasur Jesus died so we can Enter Heaven. If God never came down we would all go to hell, thats how much he loves us? here are verses,

1 Corinthians 3:15 If any man's work burn, he shall suffer loss; but he himself shall be saved, yet so as by fire.

  • @MysticalCity there are many verses john3 16-20, 2 corth 5 17-end of chapter. roman 5 sais He died for us while we were in sin because He loved us, lots of verses

  • @blessedwithoutmeasur He died so to save us from hell, has nothing to do with purgatory, u seem to have ignored my verses as most people do, not to mention people who don't believe in purgatory called every saint a liar.

  • @MysticalCity The only reason why i don't belivein purgatory its not in the bible and because the blood shed on the cross was enough for our sins he finished the work on the cross He even said it is finished

  • @blessedwithoutmeasur ok here we go again, Jesus(God, 2nd Person of the Divine Trinity) came down to save us from hell, when he said it is finished, the gates of Heaven were opened, i just gave u many verses on purgatory, yet u still refuse to believe, what part cant u understand that almost every saint(who were all Catholics btw) talked about purgatory, Saint Pio always prayed for the poor souls,

everyone goes through it, Start praying for them now, God Bless

  • @MysticalCity ok I refuse to belive in purgatory lets just leave it at that . no such thing as purgatory. exept for the movie purgatory. ha ha ha sorry goofy toda y, its 90 here

  • @blessedwithoutmeasur thats the beauty of free will

  • @MysticalCity no thats whats you call is bible sence, when things are not in the bible your not supose to add to the bible nor take away, just because a couple of people belive in purgatory doesn't mean every one will. I don't because the cross of Jesus was enough to take our sin away , there is really no bible referance to purgatory. we are clesn through the shed blood of Christ

  • @blessedwithoutmeasur. I agree, stay with Jesus. His blood sacrifice is the only way to forgiveness and He forgives to the very core of sin. His blood sacrifice is enough and sufficient.

  • @MysticalCity free will has nothing to do with it , either you belive what Jesus did on the cross for you or you don't , you can't pay for the cross nor can you pay for your own sa;lvation or do any thing whatso ever to earn it Jesus payed for it all it is done even the law and comandments

  • @blessedwithoutmeasur u choose to remain ignorant, im going to say this one more time, Jesus died on the cross and suffered so we can have eternal life with him, when he said it is finished, the gates of Heaven were opened, i have given u plenty of Bible verses on purgatory, not too mention almost every saint talked about it, congratulations on calling the saints and God a liar.

  • @MysticalCity then if he died rose agan from the dead and gave us eternal life why would you have to go to purgaory, most likely it is a man made doctrine , and those verse have nothing to do with purgatory read them in contex it is God who said don't be angry with your brother and to forgive if you have aught , nothing about that says anything about purgatory ,Iallways say Let God be true and every man a liar you need to know the bibical way ti read scripture

  • @blessedwithoutmeasur u need to understand The Bible is not the foundation, the Church is, i have given u proof beyond belief, u take a corrupt mans word over a saint(congratulations) im ended it with this verse.

1 Timothy 3:15 "If I am delayed, you may know how one ought to behave in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and bulwark of the truth."

  • @MysticalCity. what you got to be kidding!!?? The bible IS the foundation, even the RCC uses it to try to prove their false doctrines. The bible is the truth. Believers learn from it, live it & believe it. The church can be the pillar only bcuz of the bible. Pillars have to start from somewhere and it is the bible. The bible first, then the believers are born from His word.

  • @bornagainsaint1 did you not read 1 Tim 3:15? r u blind? The Catholic Church chose the books of the Bible, did you also know the Bible took 400 years to compile? or did you think it fell from the sky? did you also know the printing press was invented in the 15th century? how did people hear the gospel?! by going to the Catholic Church! or did you think people went to barnes and nobles back then and chose out of the 100 versions we have today?

  • @MysticalCity. what does the RCC use as its backbone or foundation for believing in Jesus' blood sacrifice? the bible talks about Jesus being our foundation or cornerstone in which we build our faith in Him.

  • @bornagainsaint1 The backbone is God The Holy Spirit, would you even know about The Holy Trinity if it wasn't for the CC? or in the incarnation? who defended against the arian heresy? so you believe someone can break all the commandments, cuss, rob, shoot etc... but there saved by faith? stop with that satanic garbage.

  • @MysticalCity. dont call Jesus' blood sacrifice satanic garbage? Faith in His blood sacrifice is what saves us, and by what you are writting, i can see that you dont believe this. The RCC didnt teach me anything, it was reading the bible that opened my eyes to what is really going on in churches and outside of churches.

  • @bornagainsaint1 ok, cool, your a self made bible scholar(thanks to martin luther) btw you CLEARLY did not understand me, i did not call Jesus suffering that you ignoramus! we are not saved by faith but by works!

Jesus DIED TO SAVE US FROM HELL, not purgatory, purgatory is Gods mercy, when Jesus died the gates of Heaven were opened, before he died NO ONE CAN ENTER HEAVEN. so stop with that satanic garbage, "i accepted Jesus as my lord and savior" and now im waiting to die.

  • @MysticalCity. btw if works save us, then what work can we do that is better than what Jesus did on the cross to literally save us. There is no way that any of us can keep the commandments perfectly that is why Jesus died & resurrected. He did that for us, so we can go to Him for forgiveness. Jesus is God's mercy for us, to keep us from hell, He did it. How can we suffer for our own sins? The RCC came up with purgatory!! How can we suffer more perfectly than what Jesus did for us on the cross?

  • @bornagainsaint1 how did it come up with purgatory, if its in the bible? is the word Trinity in the Bible?i just told you Jesus died to save us from hell! thats how much he loved us, every church father taught purgatory, why dont you do some research on history and be open minded besides shutting everything down, and being anti-catholic, you going against Gods Church, check your inbox im sending message, bout purgatory

  • @bornagainsaint1 Matthew 7:22 Many will say to me in that day: Lord, Lord, have not we prophesied in thy name, and cast out devils in thy name, and done many miracles in thy name? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, you that work iniquity.

  • @blessedwithoutmeasur

Matt. 5:26,18:34; Luke 12:58-59 – Jesus teaches us, “Come to terms with your opponent or you will be handed over to the judge and thrown into prison. You will not get out until you have paid the last penny.” The word “opponent” (antidiko) is likely a reference to the devil (see the same word for devil in 1 Pet. 5:8) who is an accuser against man (c.f. Job 1.6-12; Zech. 3.1; Rev. 12.10), and God is the judge. If we have not adequately dealt with satan-----

  • @MysticalCity This is a statment before Jesus died on the cross , satan has been defeated colosians and ephesian said that, He(Jesus) spoiled prinipalitys and powers and made a show of them openley Jesus defeated satan on the cross, for us , in romans he said let not sin lorded over your body, only way to thas going to hapen if Jesus is Lord of your life, have you ever said jesus come into my life , thats is giving Jesus a way in to your life ,then he changes you into a differsnt man or woman

  • @blessedwithoutmeasur ------and sin in this life, we will be held in a temporary state called a prison, and we won’t get out until we have satisfied our entire debt to God. This “prison” is purgatory where we will not get out until the last penny is paid

  • @blessedwithoutmeasur Matt. 12:32 – Jesus says, “And anyone who says a word against the Son of man will be forgiven; but no one who speaks against the Holy Spirit will be forgiven either in this world or in the next.” Jesus thus clearly provides that there is forgiveness after death. The phrase “in the next” (from the Greek “en to mellonti”) generally refers to the afterlife (see, for example, Mark 10.30; Luke 18.30; 20.34-35; Eph. 1.21 for similar language). Therefore Purgatory.

  • @blessedwithoutmeasur Luke 12:47-48 - when the Master comes (at the end of time), some will receive light or heavy beatings but will live. This state is not heaven or hell, because in heaven there are no beatings, and in hell we will no longer live with the Master.

  • @blessedwithoutmeasur --- theres a verse that says pray for the dead, and martin luther(whos in hell by the way) didnt know how to argue it. and removed the books, all protestants use the kjv, how did the "church" come up with purgatory if St.Augustine and St.Jerome talked about in 300-400 A.D?

  • @MysticalCity no one knows who is in Hell, hope no one you or I know are in there, any ways the bible really interpets It self , when we read in contex, and we also have the Holy Spirit in John that tells us He (Holy Spirit) will show u things to come, st aug. and st jerome were mere men, God said He would Show you, through the Holy Spirit,

  • @misterRR1000 Your abslutely right. But these here only need "The Word Of God"... The problem is that when Luther gave it to them, he didn't think it would beget 33,000 sects of Christians in 2011 and growing by a thousand different every week. Do you really believe what Luther taught about "Sola Scriptura" now? Really?

  • @JDNWF66,why i can't post at your channel my friend? Anyway,be patient, just read my channel page 11: CATHOLIC RULE OF FAITH...; page 10: D transmission of Divine Revelation....; page 9: The Tradition here in question...; and ROMAN...The Bible (it's canon) was officially....

  • @misterRR1000 But they aren't all Lutheran anymore.. They are 7th day Adventists.... Jehova's Witnesses...etc... All thanks to Martin Luther's Doctrine of "SOLA SCRIPTURA"... The fruits bear the REALITY. And in The Lutheran Church there are currently since last I checked 4 separate Schisms. The Scottish Lutherans. The ELCA Lutherans. The Wisconsin SYNOD Lutherans. And, as far as my count goes today, The MISSOURI SYNOD. Yes. Lutherans disagree about "The Word Of God, Too. Now what?

  • @JDNWF66 bear with me my friend. Please read my channel re CHURCH's AMAZING STORY.... how and why too many Protestant Churches came about. Thanks and peace!

  • My response to Pastor Lassman was an historical one though scriptural implications for Purgatory are very evident throughout. Just after the revolt of Martin Luther's Re-Formation there was utter chaos. Even he would admit it in later years when saying that "There are more sects than there are heads...." and I think The Pastor knows far too well the rest of that quote. Early Christians Praticed praying for The Dead. Now if they did not believe in Purgatory, why pray for the dead in 80 AD?

  • the rcc says that evolution is in line with Christianity and catholics can believe in it. This is CONTRARY to the Bible. the rcc says mary was sinless. this is CONTRARY to the Bible. the rcc says confess your sins to a priest. this is CONTRARY to the Bible. the rcc says mary can save you. this is CONTRARY to the Bible. the rcc says peter was "the rock". this is CONTRARY to the Bible. The rcc murdered MILLIONS of Christians. This is CONTRARY to the Bible.

  • @kiwichristian2009 "WORD OF GOD" according to whom? You? Really? I think you answered your own question.. ;-)

  • @JDNWF66 Nope, not according to me, according to God. I can back up each one of the statements i made. Can you refute each one?

  • Listen, we are PURGED OF OUR SINS ( not some, ALL ) by the blood of Jesus Christ. Heb1:3,Rom8:1 and John5:24. Remember "there is no more condemnation when Jesus passed over our sins and paid the ultimate penalty for us." Why didnt the apostles ever discuss purgatory? 2Cor5:8There is no mention of pur. here

  • This "man" is a crackpot! Learn the truth!

  • Your incorrect about Purgatory. Look at the early catacombs of the 1st century. What do they say? "Julius, Pray For Me".. Why pray for me if there is no purgation after death needed? 2 Macc. was in early canons. You need to review the canons between the 3rd and 10th centuries of The Catholic Church established by Christ 1500 years before Martin Luther, respectfully. I think you need to be more precise in your comments when you touch on Catholic subjects. Your forgetting Orthodoxy, too.

  • @JDNWF66 "Look at the early catacombs of the 1st century." who cares? Look at the Word of God! To say that purgatory is a necessary purification is to deny that the grace of God is sufficient. 1 John 1:9 says, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."

  • @kiwichristian2009Well, excuse me kind sir, but the discussion i responded to had nothing to do with "Is it in the bible" reference. I believe the implication of Purgatory is everywhere in the bible. My response was with Pastor Lassman who said that "Purgatory only evolved around 500 AD" as if The Church of Jesus Christ ONLY and SOLEY existed 1500 years after the 1st. I was trying to show that Purgatory's Implication was already EVIDENT in the CHRISTIAN practice as early as 80 AD. ;-)

  • Catholicism is an evil cult that has institutionalized child rape and promotes poverty in African countries by lying about birth control, all tax-exempt!

Atheists, it's time to take a proactive stance against the last refuge of human savagery!

    watch?v=w4cJ8nkOa30&feature=related

  • He is a person dressed as a Cahtolic priest to fool you he is actually Catholic. He is a Protestant.

    What a con artist.

  • Thanks for posting these videos! But I don't think purgatory denies the atonement of Christ. I think the 2nd problem is that it gives the clergy the opportunity to swindle money from gullible laity. They think giving money to the church gets their deceased loved ones out of purgatory faster. It's a heresy, but not a destructive heresy (ie. a gate of hell), because it's not a sin to get swindled. It's only a sin to swindle. If a priest is born again, then he won't accept these monies.

  • There is NOTHING in the protestant canon about purgatory, but there are mentions in the OT book of 2 Maccabees 12:38-46. We pray for the dead because it affirms the real power of Christ death. Yes he atoned for all our sins by his deathbut this is NOT magically applied to usWe must receive this on Earth and thisfreedom to receive this gift doesNOT all of a sudden dissapear after deathWe still need tocooperate withGod in receiving our salvation. Purgatoryis God's helpingus to receive all he did!

  • Purgatory is an act of God's love and mercy. God wants to make us into the best we can be and this takes our cooperation with his saving grace. While we are on Earth we are invited to cooperate with grace, but to the degree that we do not we need to be healed and made whole. So, Christ meets us where we are in love and mercy and walk through our lives with us and places love where we rejected love. This requires our cooperation because we are creatures with freedom. This is what purgatory is!

  • Purgatory is God making us whole. Only that which is perfect in Christ can enter heaven. Jesus' death and resurrection won for us the power to be made one in him. Your understanding of being perfected by grace is different. Catholics believe that grace won by Christ has the power to totally interiorly transform the person from the inside out to a perfected union with Christ. Christ's offer is NOT just covering over. Justification for Catholics is a total transformation in Christ.

  • There is nothing in the bible about Purgatory....if you go through it with a black marker and mark out some parts and throw out some books like Luther did.

  • I dot believe a soul is punished in purgatory at all. I believe a soul is cleansed in Purgatory. Odd for a priest to make a statement like that, unless the video has been edited down and his explanation was not complete

  • @baloosey This is not a Catholic priest, rather a Lutheran minister. However, note that in the Greek (from 1 Cor. 3:12-17) the term zemiothesetai is used meaning "to be punished" and the term houtos in Greek means "in the same manner." That is where in the deposit of faith we get that man must pass through fire in the same manner that mans bad works will pass through the fire and be purified (purgation). Of course no punishment occurs in Heaven, so this state is prior to entering salvation.

  • @catchzz Thank you for the Clarifiaction catch ZZ God Bless.

  • maccabees SHOULD (and is in the real bible) along with the other books they took out at the protestant reformation.

  • You can tell right off this guy knows nothing about the Catholic Church. He refers to it as "The Roman Catholic Church". A quick look at the CCC reveals the real name of Jesus' Church "The Catholic Church".

  • @2tobytwo You do have a point that the church established on earth by Christ is the Catholic church, but unfortunately others outside of the church in union w/ the rock Jesus built His church want to claim that title as well. Thus why the Catholic church must refer to its head in Rome to distinguish the true church from other ecclesial communities. I really dont think pastor meant any harm here, although a lot of the concepts taught arent exactly in line w/ Sacred Scripture & Sacred Tradition.

  • It is in the Bible in Matthew Jesus says "[he] will not be in released out of the prison until evry last penny is paid" I not too sure if I got that right but plz correct me LOL and give me ur interpretation of that passage

  • @santanaramostarango HI......well, he's never getting out..because being in prision he has no way to pay to get out..........

  • @nschaub You, sir, need to get your facts straight.

Tertullian "De corona militis" mentions prayers for the dead as an Apostolic ordinance, and in "De Monogamia" (chapter 10) he advises a widow "to pray for the soul of her husband. 160 A.D., not 500 A.D.

    .

  • @Gypsee1000 Hi....if you would like to read an excellent presentation on the historical development of the doctrine of purgatory read Part III of the "Examination of the Council of Trent" by Martin Chemnitz, trans. by Fred Karmer, pages 223 to 352. Concordia Publishing House, 1986

  • @Gypsee1000 Your absolutely correct.

  • @nschaub

In Origen the doctrine of purgatory is very clear. If a man departs this life with lighter faults, he is condemned to fire which burns away the lighter materials, and prepares the soul for the kingdom of God, where nothing defiled may enter. 200 A.D., not 500 A.D. There are more.

If you are going to present things as facts, do your homework please.

  • @Gypsee1000 Hi....if you would like to read an excellent presentation on the historical development of the doctrine of purgatory read Part III of the "Examination of the Council of Trent" by Martin Chemnitz, trans. by Fred Karmer, pages 223 to 352. Concordia Publishing House,

  • @Gypsee1000 didn't Origen cut off his own gonads? Can such a man be considered sane, let alone holy?

  • @Gypsee1000 That is the problem. I go throughout the youtube site looking for this Pastor's objections to the Catholic Church and he is supposed to be teaching Lutheranisn... What is he doing teaching about The cathiolic Church, I'll never know. But I go everywhere here and I correct him. he is wrong on historical dates, definitions of Catholic faith and on and on...

  • @nschaub This is a very simplistic answer and that is not the point of Jesus' teaching here and you should no better Pastor. He clearly says, "You will not be released until you have paid the last penny". Address that. Don't dodge the questioneer. Every time Jesus Christ said anything whether parabolic or literary it was a force for a greater spirtul truth. What spiritual Truth was Christ referring to in this parabolic Teaching, Pastor Lassman?

  • @santanaramostarango Yes, how do you get purgatory from this? This means that we should forgive those who have small debts with us, because God forgives us our large debts. "Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past." (Romans 3:24-25)

  • @santanaramostarango Your absolutely right. And it is in maccabees where it is mentioned it is "a holy and wholesome thought to pray for the dead", but of course Lutherans do not accept those scriptures. Lutherans wouldn't have accepted several in the NT either hadn't The Kings and Monarchs of Europe forced Luther into not going that far. James, Philemon, 1 John, etc... And what about 1 Cor 3: 15 Pastor Lassman? How do you explain that scripture? We would like you to clarify it's meaning.

  • You are totally wrong Pastor. You are misleading these people. Check out Thirdeaglebooks on youtube.

  • why is this guy dressed as a catholic priest???

  • @nschaub Boy, are you wrong. I could argue with most of the points you brought up there, but instead I will post you an academic resource. Please remove the space.

    Happy reading :)

  • The pastor in this video...I can tell you straight up that is not what Catholics believe about purgatory.

  • Either God's grace is sufficient, or it isn't.

  • @BigBrousky Who said it isnt?

  • @catchzz Those who teach that purgatory awaits the Righteous.

  • @BigBrousky You must be confused. Purgatory is the purgation of all sins that present in the imperfect believer. They are on their way to the Kingdom bc they have accepted Gods grace.

  • Hi I am a Lutheran of the LCMS and I go to Concordia University Nebraska. I wonder why when I read the book of Concord why we give multiple scripture references for our doctrine but rc's and other christian groups with controversial beliefs only use one reference to defend their doctrine or they reference church tradition. What is it sola scriptura or sola ecclesia?

  • @mrlittlemarvel What exact doctrine are you referring to?

  • @catchzz What my question would be is why does the catholic church still practice indulgences?

  • @mrlittlemarvel First of all the church doesnt force this practice & shouldnt be confused w/ its abuses. To more specifically get to the ?, the church will not teach anything contradictory to the truth of Christ, therefore there is nothing wrong w/ them. There are a lot of untruths that float around about them however. Not all sin is mortal, yet we must account for every sin & the punishment that goes w/ it. Refer to 2 Samuel 12:1-18 as an example where sin is forgiven yet theres punishment.

  • I left the Roman Catholic Church of which I was born and raised to become Lutheran, LCMS to be exact because I was not only tired of the false teachings but the cover-ups of homosexual child rapists. I couldnt be happier and I finally have learned and know what it is like to be a real Christian. Thank God and Martin Luther.

PS and I cant forget my new Christian family at St Johns Lutheran Staten Island NY.

  • Its a shamed that prots "teach" more about purgatory than our catholic priest do.

  • so he states that the RCC invented it... taken from pagan origins..... WOW what an admission.......

SO WHY teach it....... der....if its not true then its made up.... WHAT a joke....

this guy should be teaching salvation and not false pagan fairy tales...

  • I am NOT Roman Catholic......that's why I CONDEMNED the teaching of Purgatory...I am Lutheran...Pastor Lassman

  • Ooopp's, may need to clarify it better...

  • Hi..that's ok...lol...the smaller clips make it harder to identify who I am in contrast to watching entire lessons...I was not offended! Pastor Lassman

  • Pastor, I am a catholic and yours ideology on purgatory doesnt really bother me because we are human we have the right to agree or disagree. For past 13yrs since I became a member of Catholic Charismatic Renewal I have been asking you protestant churches to give me full explanations on 1 John 5:16-17. If you people disagree with us on the teachings of Purgatory and category of Sin, could you please explain 1 John 5:16-17 to me please?

  • HI...thanks for your question. Lutherans understand this verse to be refering to the sin against the Holy Spirit (Matt.12: 22-32; Mark 3: 22-30; Luke 12: 10; Hebrews 6:4-8; 10: 26=-27) ...Pastor Lassman

  • Sorry Pastor, Im little bit confuse LOL. Is those verses the explanations of 1 John 5:16-17 or would it be a sin against the Holy Spirit if you explain the verse to me?

  • Hi..yes I ex;plained the passage to you...the sin not to be prayed for, the sin that leads to death... is referring to the sin against the Holy Spirit...that's the sin John is talking about....and the other passages are talking about the same sin....do you know what the sin against the Holy Spirit is??

  • @nschaub sin against the spirit is a knowenly direct attack on god or his word, like people who portray themselve to be a upholder of gods word but are white washed graves full of dead mens bones,i see this in christiandom sadly,

  • @nschaub

what do you believe in after death?

  • @libetta Death is the soul leaving the body. For the unbeliever the soul goes to Hades; for the believer, the soul goes to be with Jesus.....the body of both is buried. When Jesus returns to judge the living and the dead he will raise all the dead. The unbeliever will spend eternity in hell while the beliver will enter enter life, a new heaven and a new earth, with his new glorified body

  • @nschaub

ok, what about your thoughts on Purgatory?

  • Loudmouthspeaker, I think your weakness here is lack of understanding. If you are mocking the pastor for his teaching and calling Catholic Church a pagan Church means you really lack a lot, lol.

  • In the Bible, there is no mention of "Trinity" or "Christian" or "Christmas" or "Bible". For that matter, Jesus does not outright say that He is God.

    Consider this thought:

Jesus suffered for us. However, nothing unclean can enter heaven. If there is no purgatory, we should all start gathering bags of ice now.

    Supplementary reading: James 2.

Believing that Christ died for our sins is only half of it. Even the demons believe. We are not saved by faith alone.

  • The Pastor in this video speaks the truth about purgatory.

  • If purgatory is true then the 'catholic' Christ didn't accomplish anything on the cross, wasted his time and died for nothing. The 'catholic' Christ should have hired a pro instead of doing the job himself. The Christ of Christianity is the Pro. He got the job on the cross done right the first time. And.....He did it for free!

  • Rapture, Holy Trinity and Purgatory are in the bible. Rapture is written in Mathew 24:40-41, Holy Trinity is written in 1 John 5:7-8 and Purgatory is written in 1 John 5:16-17

If you see your brother or sister commit a sin that does not lead to death, you should pray to God, who will give them life. This applies to those whose sins do not lead to death. But there is sin which leads to death, and I do not say that you should pray to God about that. (1 John 5:16)

  • @Evangelist32 1 John 5:16-17 is Purgatory? No it isn't. You need to take scripture in context.

  • johnthreesixteen316, if you think is not, could you please explain that passage to me because it is written black and white that If you see your brother or sister commit a sin that does not lead to death, you should pray to God, who will give them life. This applies to those whose sins do not lead to death. But there is sin which leads to death, and I do not say that you should pray to God about that. WHO ARE THOSE PEOPLE THAT THEIR SINS DO NOT LEAD TO DEATH OR WHICH SINS DO NOT LEAD TO DEATH?

  • @Evangelist32 Let me help here.....you need to read the WHOLE bible not just a verse here and there. Anybody who has a thorough knowledge of scripture knows that verse isn't talking about purgatory.

  • Do I need to read all gospel of John 3 to have the full knowledge that God send his only Son Jesus Christ? LOL. I am a Catholic and I am a member of Catholic Charismatic Renewal and through Gods grace I can defend my faith. Prove me wrong by your own explanation. If the passage isnt talking about purgatory what is it talking about please?

  • @Evangelist32 If a child asks his or her Mom or Dad to read their textbook and do their homework for them, what does the child gain?

  • Okay, I think we better skip that because am not getting any help as you said and also am not getting any explanation as I asked. The bible says nothing unclean will enter the holy city, so I dont know why some people choose to complicate things. It doesnt bother me if people believe in purgatory or not, I have given the quotation out and thats all I can do.

  • the idea of purgatory fits with the assumed asention of mary... purgatory is myth.. there is no foundation anywhere...

jesus didnt teach it.. the apostles didnt teach it... so who on earth taught it?

its an invention.. a clever one that devoloped by imagination....a way to trap people into false beliefs

a disception .... time to get real

  • loudmouthspeaker, Purgatory is not a myth. Purgatory is a state of purification and it is written in the bible.

If you see your brother or sister commit a sin that does not lead to death, you should pray to God, who will give them life. This applies to those whose sins do not lead to death. But there is sin which leads to death, and I do not say that you should pray to God about that. (1 John 5:16)

  • @Evangelist32 purgatory is a myth it was taught by the RCC and not Jesus.. there isnt one shred of evidence to support it

  • @mostly4moderate I cannot know where Protestants go after this life. Only God knows. What is certain is that Protestantism hinders the soul's path to heaven through its false teachings and essential hate for Christ's own word.

  • You're correct that IF doctrine is added to the church, you should break. This imposes a hunt on yourself to say OK, which church is the ONE Christ speaks of? The ONE that will not fall into damnation bc its strictly protected by the Holy Spirit -the gates of Hell will not prevail.

The point Im trying to make is, I dont believe the ELCA is just growing bad practice, but it IS changing doctrine that doesnt hold water with sola scriptura. The RCC never declared sales of indulgences as doctrine.

  • No Catholic is going to disagree that the sale of indulgences was a bad practice, but how is this bad practice any different from struggles you are experiencing from the ELCA?

Luther really didnt intend on starting a whole new church, but the pressure of those that wanted to break apostolic authority led him to. The issue at hand always boils down to authority. Protestants holding to sola scriptura are the same people who are allowing gay marriage? Arent we seeing the floodgates opening?

  • @mostly4moderate The idea that indulgences were sold, which was preached in some areas, is wrong, but indulgences attached to charitable donations is not. This kind of indulgence that accompanies certain charitable donations does still exist. The teachings the Protestants retain from Catholicism are the only true ones they profess; all other Protestant teaching is false, invented, and contrary to Christ. To be Protestant is to daily proclaim a false Christ, to hate Him who made all things.

  • @mostly4moderate Luther may not have burned in life, but, if he was lucky, he is experiencing the fires of purgation. Better it would have been for that man had he never been born.

  • I truely find that unfortunate, as one would think they have been following the true church all along. So what do those members do when their authority broke scripture? Why are so many lead by a church that is clearly apostate?

Did Christ really intend on having members of His church go church shopping?

This is why there is but 1 unobjectionable truth that must be traced back to the Apostles, not contradict proper interpretation of Scripture, & not contradict proper Tradition.

  • The problem is, Luther broke doctrine. Sure practice needed changed, but the doctrine of the Catholic church is solid.

Looks like that is more than you can say about a church you are struggling with. Not that anyone should be proud that a church causes its own demise, but hey, do they really follow this so-called sola scriptura, or are these "churches" just holding on to their own man-made traditions?

Seems to me, no protestant really holds to the bible alone theory, they all rip it apart.

  • It is circular logic, no matter how much you want to deny it.

What are you going to tell the person that comes to you and says that there is NO Trinity because it doesnt exist in the bible?

  • You know, if you want to resort to circular logic, what are you going to prove? Like I said, many books claim to be inspired. I guess you cant claim the witness to truth.

How do you know about books that are NOT written by Paul? Are you going to trust in the Catholic churches canon declared by fallible men?

How do you know Christ is who He says He is?

Its alright if you dont answer bc I have found over the years that protestant churches dont have the answers.

    God bless....

  • I would hope someone that claims to be intelligent like you wouldnt use circular logic. Again, you have resorted to the confines of scripture to say scripture is inspired.

Circular logic doesnt prove a thing.

  • Its obvious that you cannot answer my questions. What about other books of the bible that were NOT written by Paul?

Why would I expect an answer from you when you cannot answer anything I ask. Clearly you do not know, yet attack the Catholic church constantly.

How many times did I see you call out "sinner" to Catholics bc they refered to a spiritual leader as father. Yet it was clear you didnt understand the context of that scripture either.

  • What good is responding w/ a verse if you do not even know that Christ is who he says he is. Looks like you type never want to go all the back to the roots. Truth has to be perserved all the way back - to Christ.

Plus the church that Christ built would not go away. "And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it." Are you saying that Hell did overcome it & now the Holy Spirit guides thousands of denominations to truth?

  • You also mentioned that "Tim Staples failed the ultimate challenge, siding with a (in)fallible papacy elected by fallible men."

    Did he re
