I'd have to agree with the rest of the gang...NEVER allow the audience to influence the actual song! Audience participation is one thing, but hell...these clowns had NO ability to follow along.

You may have wanted to start your claps and snaps and then have them "join you" so they felt involved. Just make sure your directional mic is only picking up you. :)
