I had the opportunity to go archery hunting near Steam Boat Springs Colorado the sight of the magestic Rocky Mountains and The Continential Divide is enough to take your breath away and make one realize how small we are.
good song about Colorado i was born here and raised here just think 15 years ago i would go six miles outta town and be in the middle of no were now when i drive to the same place its full of summer homes by a bunch of rich douche bags who are only 3 months of the year
I loved John Denver when I was a little boy and I still do today, but when I was young I was a HUGE fan and used to beg my parents to play his 8 tracks all the time constantly! So when he came to Michigan and played a show in Ann Arbor, my parents made sure they took me to go see him. My very first concert was the one and only John Denver! Thanks John! and thanks mom and dad for the great memories of that unforgetable event in my life!
When I was little I used to always listen to him. My mom used to play his music when ever I had a bad day. And it killed me a little inside to know he died in a plane accident and I would never get to meet him. D:
As I type this in Grand Lake, Colorado is AWESOME, I am one of the few Native Coloradans left.If you never been its beautiful, especially fall......and yes it is extremely Rocky. I only wish I could live like the rich and enjoy more of it.
I'm only here because of the movie Dumb and Dumber. When Lloyd says "I expected the rocky mountains to be a little more rocky than this. That John Denver's full of shit man."
I live in British Columbia Canada. We have the same beautiful mountians here and the music trancends a line on a map. it's the feelings you get from the mountians that penetrates your very soul with their majesty and peace.
It's like this is the place wher the earth, nature and God get to come together and enjoy some mutual companionship.
@Caracalman so true, all the way from Colorado through my Powder River Home in Wyoming up to Alberta and BC, the Rockies are the most beautiful and touching place in the entire world.
I can't wait to go back to Colorado! I think Rocky Mountain National Park is the most beautiful place in the world!! I will probably end up living in Colorado one day . . . I hope!
its all about getting high from the great feelings that come from seeing stuff like parkersburg west virginia and things like allegenny national forest,,,beautiful country god has given us!!!
@NYredneck17 please dont move here you people ruin our amazing state with all your eastern bs. there aint enough room in this state for the both of us. keep your buildings and shit over there because im tired of seeing farm fields turn into houses and mountain roads paved... oh and we got a make my day law so stay the hell off my land.
Thanks John for leading me to the Rocky Mountains. My life is forever changed. I "get it" now.. And i've seen it "raining fire in the sky" in Taylor Park. Life is good!
0:24 looks like the Grand Tetons Not in Co..... that lake behind the barn is the head waters of the Snake River.... Jackson Hole WY... only been through there once,,, but will never forget it...
@piratepete56 it has nothing to do with being white black whatever it has to do with loving your landscape and respecting mother nature,Mother nature isn't racist she takes what she want .it's about sitting with your loved ones and appreciating what you have.
When you're from Colorado you realize the Rocky Mountain High is the feeling you get when you start coming back down to a lower elevation. lol If you have someone from out of state in the car it gets hilarious! =)
I miss Colorado so much, I lived in Aurora for so long... I miss the people, the land, and well just Colorado..It has its own radiance..you know you are close to GOD with those skies~!! Thank you for this~
I miss this man so much. An American icon that young people need today. Very nice pictures. Saw him in concert in OMAHA early 90s, and was immensely impressed with his show. He did a video tribute to NASA that was awesome. Thanks for posting this.
probably my fave. john denver song ....sooooo beautiful!!!! lived in denver for 10 years, miss it in tthese texas summers.....want to go back some day
Nice selection of photos with the Song. Do you know where John was inspired for the part of the lyrics "rainin fire in the sky"? I have been there 4 times. You can only get there on foot, horseback or parachute in.
Great video ...the photos are amazing....as a colorado cowgirl, i can say i have seen such beauty here ...John Denver is a great loss to all of us...thank you for making this video....:))) THUMBS UP!!!
I got some nasty replies to a post where I suggested JD wasnt such a nice person. I stand by that, you can only call what you see. His music is fuuuuuuing brilliant. I hope this will help you who chose to bag me . Rocky mountain high cool.
Colorado is an amazing place, I live here and the mountains just make the land look so mighty. Pretty amazing considering most of the west states are plains land. :) I love the USA period, we have such diverse places to live and visit.
I feel good again , on this Sunday afternoon, listening to this John Denver song, watching this video... with the warm and fuzzy creatures that you find in nature just gathering up their chestnuts, going into their hiding places, amongst all the beautiful things nature has to offer..
Hey Man I'm Latin (Mexican) and I just dig on the music. Is that OK? Or do I have to be white to like this?? ha ha Just read a few of the comments..whow!
Great song. Not sure how you all on to the subject below but its all a lot of hot air. There is almost no variance in DNA between all of the people who populate this planet. Skin colour, eye colour, language, etc ... they are all just superficial differences. We will continue to be a singe "race" until such time as we can no longer reproduce with each other. Anthropological differences are irrelevant. There is only one human race.
Do you honestly think that the difference between Japan and the Philippines is LUCK!!!??? I can't fathom anyone so soul-depraved who would think that it was just superficial.
I'm not a rich man . But,I have seen Thousands of Bald Eagles over my 5 decades and a few hundred Golden Eagles. In "Pheasant Country U.S.A.". (Thats south central South Dakota). I have pictures of 2 Bald Eagles sitting 5 feet above a bunch of cattle in my Dads feedyard. Theres so many rabbits, pheasants, deer and partridges out there. the eagles have first choice! they also have hundreds of Turkey Vultures.(That are'nt as Beautiful as Eagles) But are quite interesting!
ah man in N Michigan not the U P my aunt has a cottage on this river and we were going up-river to chill and this bald eagle just SOARED over our boat off into the early rising sun, the next day my friend and I want kayaking we have well-equipped ones and the same thing happened, just, effing A, so glad I could witness that
We went into his leer jet at Centennial Airport as a school field trip. Super cool. My brother stole butterscotch lifesavers from his plane. We ate them.
This song really sums it up about living in and experiencing the great state We call COLORADO. I feel so priviledged to live here-at the foot of Pikes Peak, in the gorgeous Foothills of Colorado Springs. I really miss John and his music-RIP my friend.
i hate to tell you this, but it is happening more and more everyday. to qoute Chief Niwot in ref. to the area around Boulder, CO. "People seeing the beauty of this valley will want to stay, and their staying will be the undoing of the beauty."
Same thing is happening to Colorado Springs. We have 2 huge scars on the foothills (from the quarrys) and trees and grasses are starting to grow , but it will take decades to cover the scars. Also, wayyyy too many people have moved here in the '90s-but are now finally leaving cause we don't have the jobs-businesses have left too. Alot of vacant buildings-not pretty. But-we have Pikes Peak and lots of clean air and I love it!!!
Boulder is ridiculous. I left the great state of Colorado to attend college and came back not too long ago. The changes here are vast. Comparing the pictures of the area from the time I was in high school to now is just plain disgusting. You would think, with all the environmentalist living in my next of the woods, they would be against all of this development. But, that is what people call progress.
Cheers, mate. I grew up in Colorado. Son of a native, I am. And we are no longer welcome there. Can't afford it. Don't want to watch either. My mother moved to Mexico. I moved to Finland. They can have it.
Can't fight criminal lawmakers with protest songs and native votes.
the only place'' native americans' are native too is mongolea! asshole look up sprite caveman and see what race he was he was white! thats right we were here first! WHITE POWER
Skin color is a function of the geographic location and time. Stick 500 Viking men and 500 Viking women on the equator and come back in 1,000 years and the decedents will have lost the white skin, thin narrow noses, and fair colored eyes. In order to believe this you must accept the theory of evolution. In order to accept it you must first understand it. I have never met anyone who used the phrase white power who was smart enough to understand Algebra let alone Darwinian selection.
You call the white power guy an idiot, but look in the mirror. 1000 years isn't very long on the evolutionary scale. The Norsemen you mentioned ( viking was something they did, look it up, it's a norse slang for raiding) would have adapted their culture to their new enviorment, but physiological changes would not occur in such a short span of time, unless the "Viking" interbred with the native populace. For someone who claims to understand evolution, you sound like someone who doesn't.
i agree evolution would take more than a 1000 years and breeding with the natives would need to occur on a decent scale. However, both of you make some valid and reflective points. Where did this argument stem from, this is a john denver song?
Actually a pretty cool question. My first thought is though it's cold where they live it is very sunny given the longer hours of day light at given times of the year and possibly the relfective nature of the snow. Other factors could be dietary, enviromental or sexual selctive pressure. E.g. browner guys get more chicks.
I'm from india..love the rocky mountains..i live in los alamos..always try to find similarities bw the himalayas and the rockies..both r serene n peaceful
Rocky mountains was a flabbergasting place to visit! I took a round trip to Bamph and back.
and it was just amazing! im planning on making a video out of the pictures i took.
And i even tried golfing there, and the field was just beautiful! 360 degree of the mountains, and gentle winds... just perfect...i wish to visit there again!
The rocky mountains are the closest you can get to heaven on earth. I'm so thankful I live here, I wouldn't rather live anywhere else, EVER. Every night, the sunset on the mountains and those little clouds that look like fire, I love these mountains. Some people are like "Oooh, Colorado Rocky Mountains, no big deal." But when they visit, they never want to leave. It's just a place to fall in love with. That's why it was made. To take your breath away.
seriously why am I getting such a low rating for my last comment?? I love John Denver and have nothing against this slideshow, I was simply pointing out that the section I mentioned really is in WY...jeez
I gave you a thumbs up to try & get your score back up because there's nothing disrespectful or anything about what you said. Just a couple more to go & you'll be squared away...
I had the opportunity to go archery hunting near Steam Boat Springs Colorado the sight of the magestic Rocky Mountains and The Continential Divide is enough to take your breath away and make one realize how small we are.

I've got a degree in Anthropology. You?

i agree evolution would take more than a 1000 years and breeding with the natives would need to occur on a decent scale. However, both of you make some valid and reflective points. Where did this argument stem from, this is a john denver song?

So how come Eskimos aren't white? They've been living in Alaska for like 12,000years.
FrancaisOdeurMauvais 2 years ago
Actually a pretty cool question. My first thought is though it's cold where they live it is very sunny given the longer hours of day light at given times of the year and possibly the relfective nature of the snow. Other factors could be dietary, enviromental or sexual selctive pressure. E.g. browner guys get more chicks.

Good footage. A few nice shots of Aspen in there. Some of these pics look like Rocky Mountain National Park. Is that correct?
