@LukaArsenalSerbia It seems to be one of the early guitar/guitar synthesiser systems. I think it is a Roland GR 300. It gaves the slowly increasing sweep you can also hear on studio version. "I Burn For You" is another example of that sound.
They could of come close just a little slower since they are old, they could of just had this kinda style but not the enthuisiasm since they are older ofcourse and rich and set in their ways, back then they were trying to prove something!
On the reunion tour the guitar sounded like todays guitar, dull the guitar did not have that style like it did then. They did not used sythensizers that true fans know the police are known for, I was hoping on their reunion on this song dont stand so close they would of brought in Brian the stand up bass and speed it up and during andys solo bring that orginal sythnthesizor bit like they had during this version, instead they palyed the 1986 lulaby version, its was dorky and sucked!
I'm sorry to hear that they did not use their synths on the reunion tour... The Police were in fact a very sophisticated band driving a lot of synths - Minimoogs, Taurus and Roland GR-300 onstage, they were closer to Rush in complexity onstage than any other punk/new wave band.
I was at the reunion tour and I did not hear any sythns, they sounded terrible, it wasn"t the same band, it was a different band with a different sound all together, ofcourse their older but look at the stones and the eagles they haven't changed a beat and they are as rich as sting, Sting and the police arent the same guys they were then the reunion tour was not the same it was like listening to a karioke group, you didn't experience anything unless you have a time machine an go back to 1980!
the police on the reunion tour were older ofcourse but they did not have the same sound, the same rythm they had then, I know they were young, but they could of come close. This song style is not dorky, its the way it should be played, in 1980-1982 they were the shit, especially 1980! You could tell in 1983-84 trudie and sting were rich and no longer hungry!
The police were original and had their own style, the syle alot of bands should emulate their style during this era, people today like dull music, everything sounds the same and boring. Bring back synthesizers, that jazz rock influence

The bass-line in this particular performance of this song is better than any other shown on Youtube. Kicks in at its best especially at 1:20.

Sting used some foot pedal synths, but only on one song and it didn't have that classic analog sound.
The reunion tour was amazing, but not as amazing as they were back in the day ... not by a long shot.

@stone985 TOTALLY TRUE WHAT YOU SAID!!!
And you can see it for example on Stewart Copeland, now he plays with the 1% of all the power he used to play with, it's very sad...
