classic adverts, brings back memories. I got the talcum powder out when I was 5 and shook it all over the floor and went round with my play hoover, you can imagine the mess and how cross mummy was.

Are you sure it came out in 1979? I wasn't born until 1985 and I can definitely remember this ad being on TV, and it wasn't just on one of those top 100 commericals shows...

I think this ad ran in some form for 9 years, i did see that on the 100 comercials show. i remember the woman saying they cant get it to come out of the pack like it falls onto the carpet. i think you can still get it in £ shops!

The excellent World Advertising Research Center has material from 1980 which states: Shake 'n' Vac - "Launch of a new powder carpet and room freshener. Sold in 1979, but advertising delayed to 1980 by ITV strike."

There's been some terrible research into the history of this product - by everybody from Channel Four to the BBC! The ad debuted in 1980.
