  • thanks for sharing!

you're doing a lot for people whoare trying to work up the guts to come out...like me :)

    thanks again!

  • I agree completely. I love your videos, too....... you're doing great work for the community. :)

  • When I tried to come out to my sister in May of last year those simple words were impossible, I had to leave her place call her and then hangup. It was terrifying but we are a lot closer now and can talk about anything and not feel all embarrassed.

  • Thank you for sharing your story.

  • Thanks for sharing your experience on YouTube!

  • I agree that we've come a long way, like people on here have said, but I have to say as a young person currently in the process of coming out, I'm not so sure that we've come that far. There is still so much hate and ignorance out there, it doesn't feel very safe from where I'm sitting.

  • im subscribing. tnx for the story sean.

  • Thank you Sean! For all your videos. Homophobes try to de-humanize gays by stressing the sexual aspect, as if our lives revolve around sex. Because they know that it triggers off ignorant person's dirty fantasies. That's why it is important to show everyone that we are ordinary, normal people whose lives do nor revolve around sex.

  • You're cute! I'm out.

  • Awesome, Sean.

  • Thank you for the Video. :)

  • Thank you for posting this Video! :)

  • Dude, you mean your Guidance Counselor wasn't a complete and utter d**chebag like mine was?! I'm jealous. 'Course, in my old High School, unless you came from money, he (and the school as a whole) would squash your ambitions and dreams!

  • Thanks so much Sean. I have been completely out for many years now. I cannot tell you how many minds I have changed just by being honest. I think people respect you more. And!!! What a wonderful relief -no more coworkers trying to "fix you up" with the perfect girl! ;-)

I feel sad for people who are not out. And there still are plenty. I cannot imagine taking it to the grave...

  • I came out in 1978 at the age of 18 when Anita Bryant was riding high in Florida where I was in HS,,if I can do it back then any one can!

  • Me too!! I LOVE Phil Donahue..he was always so gay friendly..My Mom watched him religiously..that helped. HIGH FIVES!! from Jim here in Ohio!

  • My Partner and I grew up on the Space Coast of Fl( both of our Dads worked for NASA,),,,and he was in the AF and I was in college when we met. seperated by the military we met up again in 1999 and now have two children and are married in Boston. I BTW have a best buddy in Cincinatti

  • 2 kids..WOW!!!! Good for you...AWESOME! Dave and I have been together since 1991. We are in NE Ohio. Big Browns fans here...even though the team stinks. Dave has cousins in Cincy and my brother-in-law is from there... Jim

  • Excellent video!

  • I'm not sure that I agree with you on your stance of "you HAVE to come out".

Coming out is a very personal experience and each persons experience is unique to them. Telling people that they must come out is peer pressure and it's not our place to try and force our agenda on any one.

Coming out should be done only when a person is comfortable and ready. Because let's face it. You or I don't have to deal with their individual consequences of the choices they make.

  • I'm a 40 year old female and I am terrified to come out. I live in a very small town and alot of people here don't except gays and lesbians. I did come out to a few family members. But scared to come out to the rest of them. Youtube is my only connection to the gay and lesbian community right now. Maybe some day I will be brave.

  • I just wanted to give you a big HUG..you are so not alone....none of us choose this..who would??? Our society is sooo uninformed. American Indians loved gay people because it really is a part of nature..gay people actually were kind of "special" people" in their society...

PLEASE it is not your choice..mine neither, not your choice..you are a BEAUTIFUL person!

    GOSH!!!

    Jim

    ANOTHER BIG HUG!

  • Thank you so much for the hug Jim! :-))

You brought tears to my eyes. Your words touched me. I want to give you a BIG HUG back!!

  • Hug accepted Gabby! My good friend Regina is gay too. She actually was my "fake" girlfriend in HS. We kind of used each other to make things look "right." Seems so silly now but times were much different in the 70's.

Our society still has a long way to go....

    Chin up Gab!!!!

    Jim

  • Thanks for telling your very articulate story. I came out in the 70's when police used to come in and raid gay bars and you couldn't even dance together. The g-word was never even mentioned unless it was used as a derogatory term. We've come a long way but we are not totally there yet.

  • Thanks for sharing your story to us!!

My family knows it about me for a year and i'm so happy that I came out!!

I wanna say for the people who are still in that closet COME OUT! it really makes life "easyer" Don't be scared for your parents/friends/family If they really love you that will accept the way you are!

  • that = they

  • Yeah I agree, being stuck inside of yourself and not coming out really kills you inside.

I came out when I was 16, but it just BURSTED out of me, with tears and screaming and suffering, I was so sick of having to hide myself and not being able to show my love for guys.

I think every single gay/lesbian person knows how damn difficult this is.

Thanks alot for your story on Youtube, I'm sure it'll make it easier for other people.

PS: you are really cute (sorry couldn't resist) :-)

  • Thank you for another great video sean this one was very personal thank you.

  • Thank you so much for sharing your story...I went through a similar set of feelings before I came out and I hope to have even a fraction of the strength that you've showcased through all your videos. Great vid, 5 stars.

  • What a day of celebration it will be when no one needs to come out...the day when it just won't matter who someone loves...that every human has the same basic rights...and all people are treated with dignity.

Thank you for sharing your story, Sean.

  • at 49..Ive been out since I was 20 in 1980

  • thanks for that. And i agree, that we should tear down the bigotry and lies.

  • I have been out since my teens. I think people should come out on their own terms, or if reaching critical pain. Not everyone has the good fortune and I did.
