I wonder if anyone has thought about the fact that this movie has been manipulated so that the sight and the sound are now coordinated. Sound takes about 5 seconds to travel one mile. Assuming that these pictures were taken from perhaps 4 miles (or farther) away, the sound of the explosions would have taken about 20 seconds to arrive. By re-dubbing the sound and picture, you get a much more interesting presentation.
Just another thought on that: Youtube is famous for having very bad synch problems at times. Some videos get murdered in the "processing" stage, after uploading.
The audio is real. Compare it to other videos. If this was filmed by geologists, they are sure to have several mics near the volcano. It could also have been edited to compensate for the sound delay. Most news stations do it, because they know there are alot of stupid people that would get confused.
People who understand that sound moves at a set speed depending on altitude and temperature generally don't need to be babied in the same way.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Fake audio!!! we all know that if you were close enough to hear the sound at the same time as the eruption that you would be cooked!!
and it sounds so crap anyways not like a volcano would. and were suppost to think the sound is real. god how i hate fake sound tracks sometimes! the real thing sounds much better!!!
The footage was great, but marred by the annoying URL at the top of the screen, and the attempt at snazzy editing. I chose to put it my favourites, but purely for the wonder of the natural spectacle. The person who created the vid only managed to detract from something marvellous. Shame.
romanians did not invent the volcanos...who told you this? i presume you should be an american, only them are naive enough to believe this kind of stuff...ha, ha!

pity we can't use all that power...
nurbsenvi 4 years ago
Ino...Some geologists say we could power the whole of Great Britain with that energy!

I wouldn't be surprised...
Did you know that the sun provides enough energy to meet world's annual energy demand every minute?

Really?? Cool! There must be some way to use it...hmmm

This volcano actually erupted in 1943 during the WWII Allied invasion of Sicily.
madpaintbalerx 4 years ago 2
lol, in 1943 there was no coloured television. the volcano erupted on more time in 2001. nub :)
sylfamas 4 years ago
He means it ALSO erupted in 1943. Etna is much more active than people realise.
Montana4Christ 4 years ago

thats the volcanoe that destroyed pompei in AD?
miroku5877 4 years ago
no, you're thinkig of Vesuvius, a few hundred miles north on mainland Italy.
Vesuvius isn't currently active, but Etna, on Sicily, just off the toe of the Italian peninsula, is one of the most active volcanoes on earth.
