@BVincent197 At 1 :16 it's plain to see that it's a Jaguar, the extra large rosettes with center spots are a dead giveaway, Leopards have smaller rosettes and no center spot . The Jags wide head and larger jaw muscles aren't nearly as prominent on female Jags like this one. Lastly, Jaguar tails can be up to 2 feet shorter than a Leopards. The girl in this vid looks to have about a 30 inch tail, which is longish for a Jag, but a Leopard of this size would have a tail of at least 3 feet.

idk if there are still any native to the US but there used to be. i still havent figured out what we have here in NC. we have a very large black cat species living in our forests, some have been shot but its illegal to kill moutain lions here so they are not reported. it could be cougar or jaguar i guess but idk

In North Carolina a large black cat is probably exaggerated for a large alley cat. Cougars have never been reported to be melanistic, it is not a mountain lion. It is not a cougar, but maybe a jaguar, but I doubt it.

If the large black cat is a malanistic cougar (same animal as Florida panther), then it is a first. A cougar with a darker pigmentation has not been recorded let, probably because cougars don't become melanistic. I live in Eden, North Carolina and I have not heard of the story, but I have seen something like it on "Monster Quest".

It could be a jaguar, but I doubt there are jaguars in North Carolina.

A jaguar with a darker pigmentation is not as common as the average person thinks. The puma did not come from the jaguar... I am a Christian, but my theory has evolution in it... Other small cats such as the serval have been melanistic, you do know that the puma is more related to smaller cats don't you? Why did God make the lion and tiger to turn whitish while the leopard and jaguar turn darkish, the jaguar has been a grayish color...

of course we're christian we live in the bible belt but i still believe in evolution to an extent and yes i know cougs are related to the smaller stuff but i still think if you put a coug in a dark enviro. evolution would cause that group to eventually become darker. like if you start with a group of montana cats and put it in a rainforest or somewhere with thicker foliage the group would get darker to fit the hunt better
