  • And what's with the low Rottentomatoe score. This movie is around a 50-65%, not 30%. If The Woman in Black can get a 60% or so, so can this.

  • This movie gets unfair treatment. It's not the original (80s) obviously, but I'll watch this over Contagion anyday (what a fucking disappointment Contagion was).

  • Don't I'm going to eat you any way, said the mimic.

  • They didn't get them all

  • Okay, to all the mutherfuckers that keep saying that this "Thing" acts nothing like the original.

do you ever think that the monster was inexperienced, and thought it didn't need to be subtle. And that when it found out the humans were dangerous, it decided to adjust its strategy a bit. And shut the fuck up about the CG effects, if they had them in the 80's, don't you think they would have used them too.

  • @kozakX316 Totally agree. Ends the argument about practical & CG effects. I've seen this movie and it is awesome!

  • @56postoffice Yes it was. Thank you for having the sense to realize a great movie when you see one.

  • @56postoffice Without saying that the movie isn't awesome, because I haven't seen it yet, I have to say that this argument really doesn't say anything at all. Of course they would've used it if they would have had access to it, I'm not denying that. They would've used it cause it's easier to do and less risky. This doesn't solve the debate which one looks better though. Just because something is newer, doesn't make it better.^^ I'll check this movie out and see for myself how it is

  • @kozakX316 no the effects in the 1982 version actually look better to me.in ten years people will think that the 2011 version's effects look awful but in 50 john carpenter's the thing will still be scary

  • @lumpyfishful probably true, but im just trying to get people to shut up about all the CG. And even thought Carpenters version does look a lot more gruesome, I still enjoy the new one. Plus, I showed how the horror all started.

  • Oh dear! this scene!!! can't believe they used it in the final film! shitty CGI effects??? why??? they could have used a model of a head? like the Norris monster! something that looks real! it looks like computer game

  • You see, this is the scene that shows how much worse this is than the 1980s version. The original Thing used subtlety and paranoia. This thing just opens its chest-mouth and is a "OOOGAA BOOOGAA" monster... this ruined my horror-childhood.

  • I just threw up on my keyboard

  • "crazy swedes"

  • press 7 for "SPAGHETTIIIIIIIIIII!"

  • @murd3r0usmuffin Hold 7 down CHA CHA CHA CHA CHA CHA CHA CHA CHA

  • @murd3r0usmuffin Lol. I lurrrve my Spaghetti with a hint of human. Spaghetti Humannaise. ;-)

  • @3582Xionlover The real him of the man was long gone. A direct assault from the Thing will kill you. But you remain you in an contamination scenario until a certien point.

  • are the infected people aware or concious wen they mutate?

  • 0:50 Atleast it has a heart :)

  • Sikorsky SH-3?

Also; what it should've done was wait for the man to land the helicopter and when they get to a more populated area start attacking.

  • Kinda of a poor tactical decision on the thing's part.

  • @WilliamGarland Maybe, but maybe not. Its utimate goal was to leave in its space ship wasn't it? I may be wrong though, as it could just have just as easily been to infect the entire planet.

  • so why all of a sudden the thing attacked?

  • @chibidevil132 doesn´t make sense

  • oh for the love of.. In the original the damn thing only showed itself when A, it thought it could get Everyone at once (the chest scene/dog scene) B when it was totaly given away (The blood scene)

Plus it was intelligent! it built a fucking saucer out of parts found in the camp store room for god's sake! it would have let the thing land, then attacked, that way even if it was discovered the chopper would be there for it to use! not explode because someone was waving to the pilot!

  • @cthulhlu i understand. but think about it. it thaws after 100 000 yrs sleep. wakes up cranky and in free-for-all mode. it learns a lot from the humans in norwegian camp that is why in Carpenter it is bad ass to kill.

  • @Blackhoundrise ive read the original story, after the Thing defrosts it immediate starts stalking the humans like it dose the Carpenters story, its a very intelligent creature.

  • @cthulhlu cool. you mean the WHO GOES THERE short story, right? i wanna buy that book and read it.

  • @Blackhoundrise Yep, its a short story written in about 1920, and its really close to what carpenter did.

  • @cthulhlu i know they sell it at amazon but anywhere else cheap to buy online. i'm in the UK so i shld check here

  • @cthulhlu

He wouldn't know how to fly the helicopter though.

  • @TEHGROUND yes he would, the Thing copys you to the degree that it knows what you know, when it was in a human it destroyed the vehicle's and comm's equipment so that they couldnt escape in the storm or call for aid.

  • @cthulhlu Thanks!

  • @TEHGROUND plus the thing was able to build a anti-gravity jump pack (in the book)/ flying saucer (film) out of stuff it found lying about the store houses. the Thing made Stephen hawking look like a inbred retard

  • This movie is retarded. Like they say, If you want a good sturdy house that will last forever, get a Carpenter

  • @slobergoof Has a few good bits in it though... though this ain't one of them.

  • yea...i wouldve jumped outta that helicopter

  • @prime513 ikr

Instead of just sitting there and screaming. The snow would've softened the fall a bit.

Your choices are: 1. STAY AND DIE 2. just jump dumbass. lol

  • @AwkwardRogue wouldve been funny if you heard one of the pilots shout: "whats going on? dont make me come back there!!!!" lol

  • How did the helicopter pilots survive without being assimilated? Do they keep a flamethrower in the cockpit?

  • @ 1:10 "I hope you like lotsa Spaghetti!"

  • why did he transform? there is no threat whatsoever.

  • @amazo88 there is a threat. kate flagged down the chopper before it could fly off because she knew someone on board was infected, and the thing realized this.

  • Okay this video is reversed?

  • @xXxBlackwaterXxX you can fool the bots by reversing the image! so you don't get caught that easily uploading copyrighted stuff!

  • how can he become a alien??

  • @Blastorg67 The Thing from the Iceblock assimilated him when he was alone

  • @BadSilence1 but what means assimilate coz im not English

  • @Blastorg67 Copy, take over.

  • @Blastorg67 Absorbing, giving his cells to his victim and copy his body and hides inside it.

  • @Blastorg67 It was dormant inside of him

  • this footage is a mirror image of the film

  • I found this hard to Masturbate to.

  • There is only ONE QUESTION I have to say...

...why is a pony vid listed in the side-bar?

  • @DestrierWillowWisp That pony could be one of those things...

  • @DestrierWillowWisp You kidding? Ponies are taking over youtube.

  • come on! in this prequel, the only transformation is torax mouths and spaghetti... what a lack of imagination ¬¬

  • AWESOME

  • "Hope he made lots'a spaghetti"

  • i said spaggeti like luigi "SPLAGETTI"

  • I don't hate this version of the film, its just the Writers messed up the plot. It left some unanswered questions, like what happen to Kate in the end? Is she infected? How does the Thing break out of the frozen ICE after being trap for over a 1000 years?

The Original Thing explains how the Dog escaped from the Norwegian base, and how it mutates and spread the infection.

  • @spoonmonkey14 If Kate was actually fully infected, I doubt she would have killed another Thing.

  • Original Thing was good and the Remake not bad but good but i like Original is always better then the remake the remake was good i haven't seen it yet but i am going to see it and rent it when the thing come's out but i like Originals and Remakes are great but sometimes remakes are pretty much worse? i hate the remake with Jackie Chan The Karate Kid (2010)

  • ... and it still looks like bad cgi.

  • @WyldCrater

Agreed. Although technology has improved a lot, puppets and animal electronics still looks more realistic than CG effects. That's what made the original Thing scary, it had decent acting mixed with the electronic puppets gave it some life.

The CG Effect in the 2011 Things looks too animated and it lost the sense of realism.

  • i know a lot of you will call me an idiot and whatever , but i hate the carpenters version , it is a classic but i really dont like it , i liked this one instead , but its my personal opinion

  • @darkestanimal I respect your opinion but i must ask, why? IMO i find this movie to be completely inferior to the 1982 version.

  • @rippedlampshade well because i find the 82' version too slow and the actors didnt make a good job (my opinion) and well in this one there are some scenes that remind me the 82' and its like having both in one but i remark its just my opinion

  • @darkestanimal I kind of agree with you, I think that each one has there things that there better at each other at!!!

  • When exactly did the Thing assimulate Griggs? That's what i wanna know.

  • @Cytron1515 He was born with it.

  • @Cytron1515 Agreed. I watched for when he was infected and never found the part.

  • @Cytron1515 when he went to get some drinks!

  • @Cytron1515 i dont think they would tell it,like the 1982 movie

about half the humans we didnt knew how the hell they got assimilated

i could see blair getting assimilated since you know he had his hands deep in the split face monster

  • @Cytron1515 When he was alone in the Helicopter to look for some drink the Iceblock Thing probably assimilated him (Offscreen). The moment when Edvard got assimilated was more a mystery.

  • @BadSilence1 Yeah, but that's the thing (No pun intended.) it was offscreen. They didn't show it. It would've been a little better if the filmmakers had shown Griggs being assimulated. Then we'd know what it looks like when the Thing takes you over. We have yet to see that.

  • Game over man. Game over.

  • Aliens anyone?

  • How many Things are there!

  • The Thing is Weegee. "I HOPE SHE MADE LOTSA SPAGHETTI!"

  • I feel so bad for Olav.:C

  • haha, the guy had too much spaghetti.

  • @shetalks777official as a token to your comment, i shouted "SPAGHETTIIIIIIIIIII!" when the strands flew out of his chest on my second watch of this movie. lol forever

  • @Ezio43 Haha! Nice one!

  • @shetalks777official YOU CAN NEVER HAVE TOO MUCH SPAGHETTI. I WOULD KNOW. IM ITALIAN. XD

  • just friggin wished they didnt show the parts of the scenes that have the things coming out in the trailers, cuz it gave away pretty everyone who was a thing. griggs, Juliette, edvard, and possibly even sander were all shown in the trailers.

  • @flipmasta14

    I thought the same thing.

    Then I remembered it's a prequel.

Pretty much a given that everyone dies.

  • Damn, I can't say I was expecting that great of an effect based on the brief preview from the trailer....Damn!

  • Beautiful. And I thought that it was going to be the sick guy.

  • @DanielDaniel1 i did to i was in the theater and i looked at my dad and said its gonna be the one who is sick and the boom everything goes to hell

  • It makes you wonder if any of the crew members knew they were infected.

  • @Alcairo02 Heh, were I to direct something like this I so would've done it that way. Some of the actors wouldn't even know they were going to be creatures until they no longer had lines in the script lol.

  • Love how they paid homage to the original by having the split stomach.. mouth thing... open up and wreck everything... don't know why The Thing would do that when it was already well hidden and on a chopper heading to where it wants to go... but crazy scene. 0.O

  • @diglfargl

Cause the thing knew that Kate found out. They were in the process of landing so the thing thought he could escape by absorbing the others.

  • @diglfargl They were going to land the chopper.

  • Just a quick tip when watching this. Don't eat when you see this.

  • my favorite scene, its so fucked up man. first attack in the movie, this shit made me shit my fucking pants all over in the theater, so badass, nigga
