  • You move way to much while you play, and that is why you arent able to hit most of the notes in the beginning. Also its not stecato its LEGATO! smooth, as if you were singing it. EVERYTHING MUST FLOW IN THE PLACE. you rush on the triplets in the begginning. Your fast part in the middle of the piece was REALLY GOOD!!!! then you got slow and it started to sound bad like your tone was squashed. Good job on the piece though! :)

  • have you every heard of LEGATO?

  • to be honest its not great at all i could play that twice as well

  • what was that last note u were trying to hit

  • @mattstephens1000 High B Natural

  • @ejpolot is that in treble clef?

  • Really nice job. Besides a few areas that was slightly missed but besides great job.

  • awesome

  • man i love how he plays this piece i must have already seen it like 50 times

  • i have 4 weeks to learn and be able to play the piano part for this piece. my best friend talked me into it. she plays euphonium

  • nice the piano must be hard i have to play the euphonium part for an audition and i only have a month

  • What's this piece called?

  • @TheEuphoniumGuy

    Rhapsody for Euphonium

  • I tried to post another, saying"

"It couldn't be as simple as Rhapsody for Euphonium"

I thought at least it would have the key in the title or something extra.....

  • wow...

im working on this piece right now, and i must say, you play it very well. its very difficult..

  • dude, the tone sounds bad because the cam was bad

  • try to practice for a better tone

  • Watch your tempo ...

    Open up your sound

and most of all calm down

    You seem very nervous

I can tell you have played it better

  • One more thing, that piano player is really talented

  • Not bad, sometimes its hard to keep those high notes, the G and A, in tune but this is a great performance of the peace. Nice job on the B natural at the end btw

  • great! try and be more expressive in the opening cadenza. and more dynamics. apart from that a very exiting performance

  • Amazing.

  • Im in a band with the best of the people from Hordaland, a big region in norway. We played this just this weekend :D a 12 year old kid played solo! This kid that i play with, he is sick! atleast as good as this guy!

  • how old is this kid? he's pretty beast!

  • esa entrada ta xvr pero lo bueno seria que el tema aca en peru lo hicieran con esa entrada y el solo de trompetas pero en 2/4

  • awesome, this was suggested to me by demondrae thurman (professional euphonium player) and thank you for letting me hear it

  • you know him?? I've heard some of his playing, and he is awesome!

  • i went to see a concert with him and sotto voce, and i talked to him, mike forbes, nat mcintosh, and they had a new member, i didnt talk to him. but i sat front row and talked to im before and after.

so,i think its an overstatment to say i know him, but i he told m about this in a e-mail.

  • its double b natural(2)

  • which note are you going to in the end ?

  • i think so far this and your other performance is the best on youtube

  • :) nice

  • He is a very good young performer. I believe his too much extra physical motion affects the clarity of the sound. Best wish for this young man and hope he can continue on studying euphonium performance. Good Job !

  • I LOve this song, kinda hard but thats what makes it great.I did it for the District 2 Florida Solo/Ensemble and made a 1.I was extremely happy. The Sixteenth note chramatic runs killed me!!!But I played the rest well. And I give much respeect to you dude, this solo isnt easy amd you pulled it off with class.Good Job---btw thanks for having this video I used it for practicing.

  • At the end of a piece like this, never end on the third of the chord. It's unmusical. If anything, just take it up an octave :D

  • its actually written in the music

  • interesting. i'll have to look into that. I've seen two different publications of the piece and neither of them have it written that way.

  • thats also the way steven mead recorded it

  • touche

  • dem fast bits are redicious!!

  • i just got this today. playing it for solo&ensamble.

  • ha yeah me too im getting it this thursday,i cant wait to learn this.its gonna be frakishly hard but hopely ill get at least a 2 at competition

  • If u know ur notes and tempos right ull do fine >.>

  • great job! i'm a freshman in O-TOWN, FL yeah i'm playing this in Feb '08 for solo/ensemble, i need help with anything thats fast in this piece. any tips???

  • Try to play the fast parts slowly, and staccato. then speed up as you get it right. then try to play it faster and faster whith legato. It works for me.

  • Hey Great Video!

I'm a sophmore in California, and i'm playing this solo with a band next month. I think that you did a great job!!! Great Tone, Articulation was pretty good.

I don't want to be to critcall, but just watch the rushing at the fast part.

But great vid, i'll post mine soon, and you can tear it apart all you like!!!

    Zach

  • yay think your tone is nicee.but maybe semiquavers articulation can be clearer :] slurs are nice.

  • I also looked at the solo while you played it and during the fast parts you were one full beat ahead of the accompaniment part. Also if you have to question on"hey should I play that note on a performance when I know I can hit it on occasion?"The correct answer is no.Overall you did a great job and if I had to grade you1-Best to 5-Worst,I give your performance a 2.I hope you take my advice for future performances.

  • Overall, good.I noticed that you seemed really tense and nervous and that's why some notes sounded really shaky and cracky.Always play with the confidence that you can do it.

  • ok after seeing this again, u look very tight al around your when u play. fix much?

  • thats pretty good. I played this at state solo and ensemble this year and got a 1 and you sounded good to me.

  • sorry kid... you fail.

  • 1-10 id give a 7.5

that last note at the end...ouch...

  • not too bad... but i hate de sound cuz of de room... n a number of mistake...

  • That was aweosome! Is that a Yamaha Yep-642 model or some other model?

  • much sweeter than the band version
